"Thank you, you know you're a good friend as well." He pulled out a piece of parchment and began to write a letter of recommendation for Amelia. He heard what she had to say about not having homeworks and N.E.W.T.S which made him work even harder of her recommendation. He wanted this year to be extremely special considering this was her last year here. "What do you have in mind for this year?" He asked with a smile, not trying to be nosey, he was concerned about what she would do in the wizarding world after her education was over. He had two years left and he knew what he was going to do already, be like his mom and he was well on his way to doing so. "I have Transfiguration after this...and I know that she isn't in that class." He thought, this year he had one class away from all of his friends and that was Transfiguration. "Yeah...I just think that quidditch will not be the same without you on the team." He muttered, he was waiting for the proffessor to let the class out but nobody had showed up yet. "Can you believe this? Still nobody has showed up." He sighed as he slumped down in his seat as he waited for the ink to dry on the parchment so that when he folded it up to turn it in later the ink wouldn't run off.

"Guess they are too busy down at breakfast socializing and eating that they are all forgetting we have class today." "I wonder what happened to our friends though, I'm sure I reminded them that we had potions today but I guess they forgot." Amelia was a little confused as to why some of her other friends didn't show up for class but at the moment she put that from her mind so she could answer Xurdion's next question. "What do I plan on doing next year? Hmm, well I'm trying to become an Auror at the Ministry of Magic if not that then I'm going to get into Magical Law enforcement like my Father. After that goal is complete I'm going to move out and see if I can find a flat not to far away from my family but still be able to retain some privacy, you know?" ......

"Yes, they probably forgot or they have different class schedules than we do..." Something was still odd though, if they did have different times than they did why wouldn't they have told them? It was quite something to think about but Xurdion decided not to waste such time on that. "Sounds like a plan, but keeping privacy will be hard when parents are constantly bugging you about what you're doing with your life." He laughed, knowing his mom always sent him letters on how he was doing and how he'll spend his last two years at Hogwarts. He hadn't heard much of anything from his mother or father in a long time. His face showed a deep expression of concern, it wasn't like either of them to leave him in the dark for to long and this was a very long time. His mom, who usually wrote to him every week, telling him about her exotic findings and sending him more supplies, hadn't wrote to him in six months. His father was rather understandable since he was serving in a far away country but he would have some free time to write. Wouldn't he? Xurdion bit his lower lip, the concern growing on his face but he quickly snapped out of it, surely they must have just forgotten.

"Hey, are you ok?" One minute he was mentioning Amelia's parents and then the next he was worrying his lips in what looked like concern. "My mom is dead, I don't know if you heard the story last night and my dad well, he knows that soon he is going to have to let me go. Obviously he is going to ask me what's going on every once in awhile but he won't constantly nag me, I expect that more from my sister than I do from my dad." Just thinking of her father made her want to write to him and her family right now but that would have to wait until after classes were over for the day. .....

"Yeah, I'm fine thanks for asking..." He listened to what she had to say to him. "I'm...truely sorry for your loss." He turned to the side and looked down at the floor. "I..didn't know your mother died..." He didn't want to think of death right now since his father was currently risking his life fighting in a distant country. "Your dad's just worried about you...that's all. He had to raise you by himself, did he not?" He couldn't force a smile at the time. "My father...I'm not sure if you know this...he's fighting in the muggle war right now and...he hasn't written in months...it's been especially hard for my mom." He knew that his mother was either worrying about him or his father. "All I know is that every day...it could happen." He didn't want to say what 'it' was since he might jinx it somehow and make it happen. "Every day when she's home she looks out the door and waits for the muggle mail to come and...see..." The subject was getting to dark and sad for his liking and he wanted to change it but he couldn't think of what to change it to. "Don't concern yourself with my troubles though, you have your own to worry about." This time he did his best to force a smile but he felt it came out wrong.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 01, 2008 7:35 pm

Amelia was glad that Xurdion wanted to change the subject. She hated talking about what happened to her mom it just made her angry and vengeful. "Yea he did but he did have my older brother to help despite the fact my brother was six when my mom died but my dad always says he couldn't get through it without my brother." "I'm sorry about your dad being in the war, I hope he is alright and I'll keep your family in my prayers." Bowing her head briefly, Amelia decided now was the time to change the subject. " Anyway, going back to what you asked me earlier, what are you going to do once you graduate Hogwarts?" .....

Xurdion smiled. "Thank you Amelia, that's all I could ever ask of anyone." He admired her because she had done what he couldn't, she changed the subject. "I'm going to become a world famous alchemist, just like my mom." He has always dreamed of traveling to distant lands, risking life and limb to find a rare ingredient or herb. He smiled at her again, knowing that her path would be considerably more dangerous than his own. "An auror...I admire you for that...you have the courage to do something I could never do..." He thought, he couldn't stand up for what's right no matter how much he wanted to. He rubbed the top part of his arm and felt the small bumps that were on them. It was a special disease, it wasn't contagious but no magic could heal it either. It was something he had developed when he was six years of age, they went to a wizard's doctor who told them he couldn't fix it with any form of magic. Why was he always so focused on hardships? He constantly grew angry with himself for being so sentimental. "But anyway, that's what I'll become...an alchemist."

"An Alchemist, that is so cool." Amelia said clearly excited. It didn't go unnoticed to her that Xurdion was rubbing his arm and a look of anger mixed with sadness appeared on his face but Amelia thought it would be wise to let it go, at least for now. Getting back onto the topic at hand, Amelia's curiosity began to get the better of her as she wanted to find out more about Xurdion's chosen path. "I was always interested in the topic but I never dived into it further than Nicholas Flamel. It would great to actually see some real alchemy. What does your mom do with it?" .......

Xurdion's excitement welled up in him like it always does when it comes to alchemy. "Thank you, it's a pretty difficult path but...anyway, my mother is currently trying to find a cure for almost every disease imaginable while also trying to find the true elixir of life. Unlike Nicholas Flamel, she believes that the true elixir of life you only need to drink once and then you would live forever...but she has no luck so far. She believes the most likely place to find such an elixir is somewhere in China where they are the most...talented in the ways of alchemy but she has traveled there many times with no luck, a lot of paths towards it but they always came out short." His smile made him feel like he was beaming with joy. "Now though...she's stopped searching for that for a while. She said she needs a rest from the heartache of...anyway, she's doing something for me now. She's trying to find a cure for this disease on my arms. Don't worry though, it's not contagious." He said, he felt like he could trust her. "Other than that she had already found quite a number of cures for other wizarding diseases. Like Dragon Pox, she had found a general cure for that..." He sighed, he was rather proud of his mother for doing what she does.

Amelia was shocked that Xurdion had a disease. "I'm not worried that it's contagious, I'm worried about if it could kill you." Amelia said slowly. That was one thing about Amelia that everyone who knew her admired, she never once thought of herself and when it came to someone else well being she was always there despite the consequences. "Sounds awesome and exciting that you guys get to do a lot of traveling. I would give my arm and my leg just to be able to travel like that, I don't get to do that much traveling since my family isn't exactly the richest family in the wizarding and muggle world." "We get by of course, my brother is in a muggle technology university here in London on a scholarship and my sister is in public school so muggle money is somewhat saved and as for wizard money my dad gave me what he had left since he denounced the wizarding world after my mom died. And as you can guess after being her for six years going on seven I spent a lot of that money." Despite the crummy situation Amelia still smiled because money didn't bring happiness you had to work for it and at that moment in time Amelia was truly happy talking to Xurdion here at the best wizarding school in the world, Hogwarts. .....

Xurdion couldn't help but laugh at the thought of the disease possibly killing him. "I thank you for your concern but it's not something like that. Just that my arms produce the same thing that my fingernails are made out of which makes many small bumps appear on them." He had always admired that quality in Amelia. "Your concern for others is very admirable indeed." He added. "I don't really get to travel much either...my mom doesn't like to drag me along since I would only slow her down and many of the tasks she does is very dangerous." He listened to what she had to say about her money concerns. He had plenty of muggle and wizarding money, having his dad risking his life gave them plenty of muggle money and having his mom find cures for disease also gave them plenty of wizard money. "If it's money you need, I have plenty." He didn't want to treat her as if she was a charity so he decided not to continue. "But anyway, I'm not surprised your dad would let this go...it probably brings up memories..." He looked around the dungeon, class still wasn't out yet and nobody had shown up. "I know a little bit about alchemy but I'm no where near my mom's level. I could teach you some if you'd like." He smiled again and waited for her response.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 01, 2008 8:45 pm

"I would like that and your right it does bring up bad memories for my dad. He doesn't completely blame the wizarding world but he does see it as partially responsible. When I got my letter he thought he was going to loose me too but when it came down to it he knew that this school would be better for me." Amelia didn't really know why she was talking so much about her past to Xurdion especially since she only really spoke to him last night. But there was something about him that gave off this sense of trust that he would never betray anyone. Amelia slowly began to feel her emotional barrier tearing down and her feelings being able to come out that for the first time in a long while, Amelia cracked a true smile. .......

"Excellent, as soon as I get more ingredients I shall teach you some of the things that I know." He felt close to Amelia for some reason, like he would if he had met an old friend he hadn't seen in years. "Your father knows what is best for you but he doesn't want something to happen to you as well, and it's not hard to see why. You're a wonderful person but always remember that no matter what you do, there are always people who care about you, those whom you call 'true friends'." He remembered how his mother used to tell him that all the time when he was feeling upset about something. He felt at home at Hogwarts and around his closer friends, Amelia being one of them. "Anyway, this summer I begin real training to be an alchemist. I have to go to China for a few months and study the alchemy there. They have perfected it to such a point that muggles can even use it without knowing it's truely alchemy." He sighed reluctantly. He saw her smile and he smiled back, it wasn't even forced. It just came out of him, warm and open.

((I have to go now since I have school in the morning that starts at like 6. But I'll try to get on in the evening.))

"That sounds cool, if you don't mind I would like to keep in contact with you by owl because next year I won't be around to hear about your summer." Amelia was slightly saddened by this thought but she knew that if these people she came into contact with and a sense of closeness this year were truly her friends then they would find someway to stay in touch. Sitting at her desk waiting for the bell to ring, Amelia went back to her thought earlier on why a good portion of the class didn't show up. 'That potion took us a maximum of 20 minutes to complete and now if the class does show up they are going to have to stay overtime. I guess I'm going to have to inform the people I know in this class about the assignment later on. Oh the joy.' ......

"Alright, that sounds great." He said, knowing that the owl would have to travel quite far to give messages between them. He continued to look towards the door since nobody has shown up yet. "I'll love to see how your summer of being an auror turns out to be." With that he pulled his alchemy book out of his bag and placed it ontop of the desk. "I might have a few ingredients left to do some smaller tricks." He flipped through the book until he came across a minor alternation trick. It told about how to make a simple goblet turn into an elegant chalice. He pulled out the materials needed for the trick and placed them in a circle. "Alright, here's what you need to do for this..." He took out a vial since the trick would work on almost anything. He placed the vial in the center of the circle and took some of the extra equiment and placed it around the vial in a triangle. "Here, you can say the incantation while I spray some of the sea water onto it." He pulled out another vial, smaller and filled with a greenish blue liquid. He popped the lid open and started to sprinkle the salt water all over the formation of items. "Whenever you're ready." He said with a smile.
