They've filmed a bit of that here in Liverpool - apparently rolleyes .
I haven't really seen him in much but I remember thinking pre-this, he's quite short. Is he, or is that just me? Can't say I'm a fan of his face :/. Too good-looking, doesn't really make an impression.

You'll need to scrub your town down, then. D:
And yes, he is amazingly short for a normal person, but doubly so for Holmes. He's also got a bulky physique and a square face with insufficient Nose and a decidedly un-intellectual brow. >>; Though I would never call him too good-looking (I have unique tastes).
The only thing he's got going for him is his cocaine addiction, and I will admit that he does occasionally have random bouts of good acting. But so much of the character is the first impression - that of a cold, brilliant, adamantine personality, which shows through in the physical aspect. RDJr is just too average-looking, like someone you might pass on the street without even noticing him. Holmes is supposed to be striking.

Ahhh, you know what they say about the best looking people having the most regular and average features rolleyes . That's all I meant.
I'm with you though, for a face with character any day of the week. Trust me, I have what you might call some weird fancies people-wise. Take yerrr non-descript mess somewhere else Downey.

Should have been Hugh Laurie. Or would that be too perfect?

D: WHO MANGLED STARGATE?!
And Hugh Laurie would have been too perfect. Especially since he plays House, who is essentially a modern a*****e Holmes. Some actors have issues with playing roles that are too similar to one another. He would have been excellent, though.

Its going to be horrible. ;_;

My mother agrees that RDJ is not a suitable Holmes, by the by. "If you've got Holmes and Watson in a shot together, and neither of them is incognito, you ought to be able to tell which one's which." ~A Wise Woman

I've always kept the notion that Jeremy Brett was the best actor who portrayed Holmes and Robert Downey Jr. is not going to change that fact. But, I do not despair in him trying for it, anything is better then the most recent adaptation Sherlock Holmes: A case of evil, was terrible. As for another actor, Hugh Laurie would have been too predictable, and Alan Rickman would have been nicer sounding, seeing as he is English after all.

When will you make an end?! I think Hugh Laurie may have been a decent choice, but I have never seen him play anything that was simply dramatic. He's always being a smarty-pants or a complete idiot. As far as looks go, one of the fellows from The Mighty Boosh would almost be a better choice than RDJ.

How wrong is that? When I am finished!

xDDDD Hugh Laurie is English, too! ~has a thing for him~ Really, though. What would have been epic is Stephen Fry as Holmes and Laurie as Watson. Or even that pair in reverse. It would be like watching Jeeves and Wooster backward. ~has heard RDJ trying to do an English accent and failing miserably~ I just sort of assumed that he was going to be using a regular voice, poor guy. 9_9
I'll have to start watching the Boosh, also. I sort of meant to, and got too busy.
