There will be a DMC 5 and my brother says that it will be better then DMC 4. By the way, he works for Capcom. I can't wait to see it. xd
Congratulations on using the fastest method known to man for destroying your credibility online.

Humoring your statement though; Your "brother" no longer has a job. Why you might ask? Because of a little thing known as a non-disclosure agreement, meaning quite simply he's legally forbidden to tell anyone about what the company is working on until the company decides the information should be released. Now had you not said that, your "brother"'s breach of contract would not be known and he'd still have a job. "He" must love you alot right now. biggrin

Dude.

STFU

"Its only ileagal if you get caught" same principle.

And how the hell are they going to know who her brother is anyhow?

And we may be getting inside info on dmc5 from him. so stop complaining.

And besides capcom already announced that they are working on dmc5 the director was talking about a different game and he said something like "We wanted to make some knew kinda games and also have a little fun project while we work on dmc5" or something along those lines.

I want to see it go into the tony redgrave era of the stor i think it would be freaking sick for the finnal boss fight to be be between dante and Gilver. and have the old lady too i think it would fun as hell all the way around maybe even some co-op mission with tony and gilver just liek the story

Tony Redgrave?
Is that sparda? ...? o__o Im confused, ive never heard of that before. and i know alot about DMC, but not everything. The only people that know the most are the developers. X) and storyline board.
But tony? who is he? XD;;;
(then again i havent finished the 2nd dmc... i got bored because its so emotionless. finished the rest though.)

I do wish they would bring lady back. I barely saw her in the 4th game, which was a huge dissapointment. Shes my favorite female character of all videogames! She kicks a**.

Tony Redgrave is Dante's alias in the DMC1 novel. It was the original prequel to DMC1 until DMC3 blew that canon to Hell.

oh wo. i didnt know that....
You learn something new everyday.
Thats a neat fact...
Here i thought the game came first. And the novel came afterward.
But i have heard of a Devil May Cry novel that wasnt revolved around the gamebase. Never thought about reading that one though, i didnt think it was related to the characters...
Thank you. :3

rofl Don't hate on the name. ...Okay, hate on the name, but at least hate the fact that Dante's made out to be weaker in the novel than in any of the games, and in all serious business, got saved by the plot in his fight against Gilver. That was the biggest insult to any of the canon.

o3o and can I ask why you thought the manga was horrible? (Looking at it now, I think it's horrible too, but I'd like to hear your reason. xD)

I can't remember where for the life of me I spelled out my theory for DMC 5, might have been somewhere in the guild, or it might have been the Gaming Discussion.

Regardless I'll reiterate;

DMC 4 is likely just a stepping stone to setting Dante aside for a little while so as to not have him go stale, deny it all you want it'll happen if he doesn't get a break.
The game will likely take place after DMC2, I'd prefer immediately after, as there's little room to move beyond forward in time now.
Now as a little recap; As of the end of DMC 2 Dante has gone "all the way to Hell" and Lucia is last seen waiting around at Dante's, running out when she hears a motorcycle. WHile this could imply Dante's outside on his bike we'll say this is not the case.
Instead DMC 5, picking up where 2 left off, sees Lucia running out only to find Nero, the reving heard being an intended playful mockery to get Dante outside to discuss getting his assistance with what is to be the main focus of the game. However, as Dante isn't there he settles for Lucia's assistance instead, her motivations for doing so being twofold; she's a demon hunter and this will give her a chance to possibly find Dante.
As is the norm for the series, a gate to hell will be opened toward the end permitting Dante to return and join in for the final fight and fully step back into the spotlight for the 6th game.

Now, new things that have come to mind are gameplay mechanics;
Multiple playable characters are a given, as only two of five games have not really featured this(counting DMC3 SE as it's own game).

Nero obviously is going to be using the Devil Bringer and Exceed systems. One improvement that can easily be made is to provide him new weapons, in a way. It's been seen that he can absorb Devil Arms into his arm, and is more than capable of utilizing both Yamato and Red Queen at once while in the Devil Triggered state with Vergil's assistance. It is also seen that Vergil is more than willing to use weapons other than Yamato. As such it would be safe to say more weapons can be utilized in such a way.

Lucia on the other hand, and don't give me that look for saying she's the other playable character, will be using the amulet system. Elements, flight, speed, regeneration, and time control have all been seen to be used by this, but there are still a great deal of other possible attributes that could be modified in this way. As for weapons, that's a little harder to say. the two sword fighting style she had is a given but beyond that she'd likely be sticking to faster and smaller weapons over what you'd see in either Dante or Nero's possession.

Now to bring up something else, yet to be seen. Actually multiplayer gameplay. I personally found the Doppleganger style to be much more fun to use when there was another player to control it, so why not have it so that this time around, should you have a friend to play with, be able to have one player take control of one character or the other. I'm undecided as to whether the other character would be absent for the level or AI controlled when another player isn't present as both options have ups and downs in terms of actual and potential gameplay changes.

One last thing, if there must be repeated bosses they'd damn well learn to pull out more tricks with each encounter. Bosses getting progressively easier because they don't ever bring something new to the table is kinda bad.

Wow!! This is a great idea. However, i would have to add that i would like to know more about Nero's origins. My friend is INSISTING that Nero must be Vergil's son...
that would be cool, but SOMETHING does need to happen to clear the whole, "he has Sparda's blood" thing up... question

--AVNGD_SVNFLD--
I totally hate that I couldn't be Dante in DMC4. That pissed me off...bad. I just like Nero's arm, its totally cool.
but you do get to be Dante, for part of it.

xd I've seen manga drawn worse. I thought you were going to point out random oddities in it, like Rebellion's awakening in the mansion, or the fact that Dante notices Lady's picture when he busts into the mansion to rescue Alice but doesn't really acknowledge anything about her in the game, the part where Lady hides in Dante's bathroom one moment (in manga) but tries to blast the s**t out of him the next (in game), all the needless (or just plain wrong) dialogue/translations in the Tokyopop version, or... Never mind.

Now, what was so bad about the anime (which I also happen to think is pretty horrible)?

I've seen a lot of badly drawn manga but that doesn't excuse it. The anime....the anime....the Dante drinking milkshakes thing was lame. He should be drinking some kind of alcohol. The secondary characters were horrible. Patty made me want to kill myself. Trish and Lady were not cool and have horrible fashion sense.

If I may add my two cents...:/ I happened to have enjoyed the novel, manga and anime to some degree.

Novel:
Just recently read it -- yes, I realise, it's not canon, but if you ask me, it was really well written. It seems to me like this novel could have been written by Dante himself. The words used and such. It was filled with emotion and action and even I felt the anger/sadness/etc. at the designated parts.

And I think it's a little unfair to not like something just because of a simple name. Tony Redgrave is definitely something I could see Dante coming up with, especially considering if implies that Dante was a kid at the time of choosing the name. [correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall it ever specifically saying when, but to me it seems to be implied that he was younger when choosing it] He's a mercenary, not an artist. You need to take into account that creativity is the least of his worries.

Manga:
Honestly, I thought it was well drawn. Most people can't realise it's the style it was drawn in that is where people have the problem. It's messy, yes, but not without reason. The messiness compliments the dark, grittiness that accompanies most of the Devil May Cry series. Proportions, authenticity and such were spot on.

I liked the concept of naming the statues and how they represent the sins. :> I've always gotten a kick out of the seven sins, the elements and other such things, so, I enjoyed it.

Plus, I'm an Alice's Adventures in Wonderland freak too, so that reference made me smile. :> [Where's the Chesire caaaattt? D<]

Yes, the storyline has loopholes, etc. etc., but it's enjoyable if you just take it as a story instead of connecting it completely to canon. Obviously, this isn't canon. Just enjoy it. Seriously, if you can do better, I'd like to see you try. [I say this with the least bit of offensiveness as possible! o.o]

My biggest problem with the manga was that there were planned to be three and yet only two have been put out. It really pisses me off when artists do this. If you're not going to see a project completely through, then don't show it to the public and get people liking/disliking it. You'll only end up with more people disliking it.

Anime:
Didn't like it nearly as much as I wish I could. I liked the music and some of the missions, but this is where the art really could've been better and so on. The style itself is nice, but not working for Devil May Cry. Dante...simply didn't seem to look like Dante. :/ Spmething about the face...[I'm mad picky about faces...] and it's the same for Trish and Lady. Their faces seemed almost masculine to me and it really irked me. Although, I found it interesting to just sit back and enjoy generally. I guess what I'm trying to say by that is just to look at it like a fanfiction; it's not guaranteed to be canon, there's bound to be mistakes, so just put your own interpretation of the real thing aside for just a little bit to enjoy what good there is in it.

I can name a lot of crap I didn't like, a lot of stuff that really just should've been better [and really could've, I'm a bit disappointed with it when I think about all of the negatives.], but I guess that's the weird thing about me; I'm open minded enough to just enjoy something as long as it doesn't cross the line with ridiculousness.

I guess these really must've crossed the line for you guys, which is fine, I don't mean to say you're wrong completely, I'd just like to point out that there are good things to them and it's possibile to enjoy it. :3

But most of all, you're taking a video game and turning it into other types of medias. You have to expect imperfection, especially considering Devil May Cry has been taking on a series of crew switching right from the start anyway. If I have my sources right, DMCII and beyond are all made by different people than DMCI, which is why none of the games or anything else in the fandom will ever hold a candle to the first game. [my personal favourite]

PS. I own two of the comics; they were very nicely done as well. biggrin ~ I'm trying to find the two I'm missing so I can complete the collection. :3~

yes

@"n_niji arkoiris" : Of course it's unfair to not like something over a name, but it's how far the name continues to extend into already existing canon that can make a fan mad at the novel. The novel isn't canon anymore-- it used to be, but with the game making the plot (and timeline) of the novel go "HA HA DISREGARD; I SUCK EGGS", no one bothers to acknowledge the Tony Redgrave nonsense.

The manga is the spinoff that is supposed to exist alongside DMC3, explaining the events happening a year before the game (Pretty much to add onto Dante's "It's been a year since we last met" line) So it's supposed to be the real canon in place of the novel. Not just some doujinshi done for the lulz. No real problem with this except the continuous loopholes that it really shouldn't have (and the engraving on Dante's guns if you ever get a close look at them).

(Speaking of being able to write better, while I really can't speak for myself, go to fanfiction.net and read Laryna6's work. It takes some serious creative skill to tie in elements of the novel, manga, anime, etc. and make it believable. Even the Viewtiful Joe cameo makes sense, and THAT was for the lulz.)

The anime: The animated 'done for profit, not lulz' explanation to the events between DMC1 and 4, which actually did cross the line in ridiculousness. Take what I said about Tony Redgrave 'not existing' due to contradiction by DMC3 and add it here, since according to the now-canon manga/game, the story goes that Dante saw his mother die and just up and left, not bothering to change his name and simply moving to another town and training/running a demon hunting business until the appearance of Vergil (NOT GILVER).

Episode 8, was a nod to the novel (or just the alias) that throws everything out of whack, what with Ernest insisting that Dante WAS Tony Redgrave and had lived in THEIR town 20 years ago until the demons attacked and Dante's 'supposed to be dead' mother was run out of town and took him with her. The fact that Vergil magically falls off the face of the earth for that piece of the story (and the part where Dante totally proves he's Tony by digging up the treasure box that he and Ernest had buried when they were younger [unless THAT was for lulz/pure coincidence]) crosses the line, and possibly doesn't come back.

All I'm saying is, is that if something is done for profit, backed by Capcom, and is meant to explain any occurence between Point A of "established/undisputed canon" to Point B of "also established/undisputed canon", then it had better hold true to it, otherwise it ends up being in the realm of "stuff that was better as a stand-alone thing".

Ah, I see where you're coming for with that. mad Which brings me to the point of trying to keep things simple; =.=; I don't think Capcom's ever going to clear what happened in Dante's past up. I mean, it just seems unlikely, y'know? :/ I try to just enjoy it as it is -- even with loopholes and black pits...-- because it simply seems like all Capcom is able to do is to move forward, and even that is only slightly more successful than revealing the past. [*AHEM*DMCII]

I suspect Capcom's just milking it for what it's worth, at this point. They seem to have sold out, which does make it hard to enjoy the games and such. But seriously, my range of interest stopped at game four. I don't think game five will be getting better because seriously...game four was just a hair above DMCII thanks to the ZOMFGWTFLOL! graphics and the somewhat fresh spices added to the usual "Save the world!" storyline.

I seriously wish they'd bring back the old crew who were the originals in the making of Devil May Cry one. I miss the feel of it...I just really miss everything from it. It's what drew everyone in to begin with! It's always been my favourite game of them all. [Though, :3 DMCIII was pretty fun. Vergil = <3. haha]

But all and all, I guess it's that longing for what I originally loved about the game that keeps me coming back and just trying to enjoy it as much as possible. :/ Y'know?
