Pedro said something in Spanish before turning and walking back into the bedroom. She wasn't quite sure what he'd said, something about her, and nothing. She should probably have brushed up on her languages before arriving. There were many diffrent languages that sounded vaguely like the basic ones she knew in the halls, and it would have made her much more comfortable if she'd known what she was saying. She cleared her mind of the thought of countless hours infront of her computer learning French again, although shuddered one more time. Her hair was tangled. Even after running a brush through the snarls, the usual sheen didn't return, and she sighed in exasperation. Everything about her apperance was wrong today. Hopefully, her makeup would apply more smoothly- although she was so focused on creating the smokey-eye effect her stylist had shown her, she was completely unaware of Pedro's re-apperance. His voice made her jump a little, poking her tear duct with the eyeliner. Blinking back the tears, she nodded. "Y-yeah. Sure, I'd love to come." Adeline was still stumbling over her words, more focused on the complete disaster that was her face at the time. "I'll change." Booty shorts and a white tank-top probably wasn't the most classy alternative. She didn't want to embarass her sweet room mate by showing up looking like trash. Adeline made sure her changing wouldn't be viewable before sliding off her shorts and switching into a pair of khaki capris and layered tanktops. The second one was looser, concealing her figure- as most of her wardrobe did. Sliding on a pair of shoes and a necklace, she returned to where Pedro waited. "Shall we go?" Hopefully, her eye would quick being irratated by the time they arrived.

[short ghey post alert]
Pedro nodded, stepping into the hall. Not to far, he could hear the noise coming from an open door, identifying several of the voices as familiar. A mixture of scents drove him wild as he got closer to realize Justin was cooking his chocolate chip pancakes. Something inside of him twitched and he turned to Adeline, a smile on his face. "Hope you like French Toast~" There would definitely be compitetion once Pedro entered the kitchen.

Adeline's head seemed to act resemblent to a magnet and steel as it hit the pillow. Her attention had been easily wavered while at the breakfast table, and as everybody dismissed themselves, she did so as well. Thanking the girl and the boy who had been standing in the kitchen graciously, her dissaperance was sure to go unoticed by the larger percent of the room's population. She hadn't gathered enough courage to talk yet. Even a paragraph of speech would have been an improvement, but Adeline couldn't free herself of the cocoon haunting her attempts at improvement. The harder she tried, the harder the weight was to bear. Her finger grazed the layers of blankets neatly laid across her bed. Nothing else seemed to hold much relevance, as her dull amber eyes bore holes into the equally as drab wall. If "Blah" was a person, she was sure their facial expression would nearly mirror her's. Her free hand slid under the pillow, clutching the loose fabric from the case. It was a childish habit that she retained for comfort, and was grateful it was far more subtle than toting a teddy bear around in her arms whenever she felt such rare waves of confidence die.
One would have believed events as un-significant as a fall from stardom would have passed over by now. To be fair, any other teenager would already be dusting themselves off. But Adeline? She'd lead the defenition of ideal life, and was comfortable ignoring the plastic in the situation. Besides, she was a hormonal teenager. Angst came with the package. After the third readjustment in the ten minutes prior, her cheek lay on the pillow. Unusual pain only further densed the gloom. Forgotten such a beautiful cut, how could she? Sliding off of the bed at last, gnawing her lower lip in worry, she reported to the bathroom mirror, turning on the lights as if flooding the gash would make it dissapear. After two minutes of exposure, she realized it wasn't working. An hour had done miracles, though. Adeline could predict the way the scar was going to result, and it didn't look awful. Enough to wound her career, but not enough to devastate it. Sighing, she dropped the bandaid in the garbage and let the cut breathe for awhile, returning to her bed. The rest felt better than it should have.

There was a rather long period of time that passed where Hikari hadn't a clue where she had ended up. Dark eyes slowly sized up her surroundings before the decision that she was in a dorm was made. Odd. She had taken Adeline as the slightly adventurous type. Certainly not the type of girl to hang around in her dorm for the better part of the day. "Adeline?" she called softly, her voice lacking necessary conviction. From her previous conversations that morning, the girl didn't feel much in the mood to even be in the relative vicinity of people. But even she knew it was better to talk something out with someone rather than to mope all day long. Adeline seemed nice enough. Surely she'd listen.
Forcing herself to her feet, it occurred to her that she had failed to knock since she kind of transported herself there. Immediately she tapped on the door that stood behind her - mostly so that she could use the 'I knocked' excuse later. Not that she really thought it would be needed. It was just precaution. "Adelineeeeee?" she called again, her voice cracking momentarily. Damn you, Reizo. See what you've done? s**t.
Hikari wandered around the dorm for awhile, softly calling her apparently invisible friend occasionally. The last room left to check was the bedroom. Honestly. Why hadn't she thought about that? Just because Hikari hadn't slept and was up and running around early, certainly didn't mean that Adeline had the same routine. Knuckles lightly tapped twice on the bedroom door before she slowly opened it, poking her head in through the small opening she had created. Bingo! Oh, wait. That was bad. She didn't want to wake the girl. Maybe she had had a bad night? Regardless, Hikari was intent on making herself at home. "Adeline," she called gently. "If you're tired I can come back later..." That offer hadn't sounded very convincing at all. But, hey, it was worth a shot.

Adeline had drifted into a light sleep, easily sustained and broken just as simply. It was a surprise that the repeated calling of her name never registered in her head as something to respond to. Adeline's eyes were still completely lidded, her chest heaving another slow, steady breath at periodic intervals. Her brain was capturing her into a twisted scene, an spin-off of her reoccuring. She had continued to run. The flames were all behind her now, help was in sight. Mobs of people, reaching out to her, just begging to help. Nothing was going to stand in her way, absolutely nothing... Until, like the beautifully coordinated girl she was, Adeline tripped over a gap in the pavement and tumbled to the warm asphault, the skin covering her arms and legs taking turns skidding against the sharp pieces as she rolled. It hurt. Her limp body eventually lost momentum, taking a final rotation before letting her completely expirience the pain. Needles pierced her entire body. The help was still out of reach- she was so close! The warm liquid staining her shirt and her ivory skin was more familiar now than it ever had been before. Relief flooded through what hadn't yet escaped, when she felt a small rumble behind her... The final time, her name was recognized as an urgent call. Desperate enough to wake her up? Hopefully it was important. Pleadingly, the warmth still lingering in the depression she had created upon her sheets tried to pull her back asleep, but Hikari looked troubled. A little startled that she hadn't been alone all this time, Adeline jerked her body into a sitting position. Her russet eyes seemed to have lost all of the dancing joy they had once contained, although a small spark surfaced. It was nice to know that somebody would visit her from occasion to occasion, unless Hikari'd only come to inform her she'd been expelled or something. Adeline scooted over on her bed, pulling her slender legs under her body to make more room for her friend to sit. "No, I'm fine. Just trying to catch up on sleep I miss..." Her sentance was discontinued by a yawn. "Missed out on. Come, sit." Patting a clear spot on the bed, Adeline smiled gently. Something was troubling the once-bubbly girl, and she had intentions to figure out what it was.

"Then go back to sleep, silly," Hikari replied, her voice only holding half the caring tone she had intended. Her feet apparently didn't like what she said, for they disobediently carried her over to the bed. Biting back a sigh, she perched herself where Adeline had patted. Nice how it was still warm from where her friend had been sleeping. It was comforting in a way. It was always nice to know that everyone wasn't cold blooded. A chill shot through her body with that thought. What an awful thing to think about someone. Deftly, she kicked off her flats, but made no move to pull her legs up onto the bed.
"Sorry about yesterday..." she started, her fingers beginning to play with the ebony strands that she had left down for the day. Something inside of her knew very well that she couldn't say anything about her and her roommate's current relationship. That'd be treason. It had been a promise that she would act as if she still hated him. And Hikari didn't break a promise. Which was exactly why Hikari planned on rambling on about why they had been fighting in the first place, and if necessary add on something about the nightmare she had during the short period of sleep that greeted her the night before. Lies were always a great way to cover up a miserable kind of mood. Or maybe not. Something about Adeline's smile was so trustworthy. "We...Reizo and I, I mean, we don't get along too well... I really didn't mean to blow up like that and everything, so..." she paused in her rambling to rub sleep from the corner of one of her eyes. "Sorry for ignoring you. I really, really, really didn't mean to. Sorry."
Apologizing was strikingly easy. Why? Because it was second nature and was the only honest thing she could force herself to say at that moment in time. A weak smile graced the girl's lips as she stared at the floor, finding it impossible to meet Adeline's pretty eyes. The smile was more of an attempt to reassure herself than anything. It was failing, too. Miserably.

"It'd be rude to go back to sleep. You look stressed." It was a mere observation, nothing significant unless she was right. Her hair had fallen infront of her face, and with a graceful motion of her head, they returned to their natural state- a "flowing river of onyx running down her spine". That's atleast the description her agent had used, and to be honest, she thought the entire attempt at making something as irrelevant as hair sound exotic was a silly waste of time. If the managers of the shoot didn't like her hair, they covered it, coloured it, twisted it, or photoshopped it. Hikari sat on the bed, kicking off her flats and explaining the situation with Reizo. "It's okay, don't be sorry." She replied, shaking her head and grinning meekly. Sincere as the apology had sounded, Adeline was sure both parties recognized that it probably wasn't quite what she'd wanted to say. That only pushed the raven-locked girl further in curiousity, and she began twirling a small heart indent in the loose covers near her knee. Her eyes lingered on Hikari's darker ones, before returning them to her work. "Is there anything else on your mind?" She hoped her companion knew she could trust Adeline. It was easier to convince some then others- being trustworthy was rare in the industry. There was nothing she'd rather do then help- no exceptions. On her perch atop the pillow, back against the headboard, she felt like some sort of shrink. Adeline had always known that she was a good listener. Her skills were exclusively used, simple as that.
She cocked her head, her range of motion restricted by the fact her head was resting in her palm, now winding a strand of hair around her thin finger. A distraction. She hated being patient.

"Do I?" Hikari questioned worriedly, running her fingers down her cheeks as if to rid herself of the expression. She sighed, realizing fully that such an act wouldn't work. "I'm always stressed," she added honestly, shaking her head. "I'm usually better at covering it up..."
Dark hues lifted when Adeline spoke again. Don't be sorry? How? Really, she should have been begging for forgiveness since she had kind of abandoned her friend. She probably would have to, if she wasn't so worn out. Even so, she caught the tone in her friend's voice. There was something off about it. Either there was something else that wanted to be asked, or she was hearing things. "What is it? There's something else that you wanted to say, right?" Skillfully she avoided explaining what was bothering her with a question. If luck was on her side, whatever it was that hadn't been said would make things that much easier for her to explain what was going on.
Pulling her feet up onto the bed next to her, she shifted a bit to make eye contact. How she dreaded the questions that would have to be answered in the long run. She was torn between two people. It was either break the promise she made to Reizo, or lie to Adeline. Neither of which she wanted to do. Oh. She hated tough decisions.

Adeline shrugged, gaze shifting towards the floor. She was still cautious of sharing deep thoughts with anybody, since she'd only been here a day, and therefore secrets were much like merits that had to be won. She sighed heavily, grimacing in a distressed manner as she contemplated whether or not there was anything she wanted to share. A complete blank was drawn; she had nothing to tell. Every traumatic situation in her life was published in the tabloids and there wasn't much left she could keep to herself. A day was far to early for form a crush, and there wasn't any complications with fellow students. There were, actually, but there were to many complications and tensions and she couldn't match enough names to faces yet. Her fingers wove together. There probably weren't any words that could be exchanged in order to convince Hikari to reveal the mysterious secret. "There's nothing going on with me, actually. Just worried about some stuff, is all." There wasn't much to be worried about, now that she was out of the spotlight. It was a relief and a large worry of hers all at the same time. "If you wanna talk about anything else, though, you can tell me." She grinned sincerely.

"Worried? Anything I can help with?" Hikari chirped, nearly returning to the peppy side of her personality. Placing her hands behind her, she lent back a bit. "People pickin' on you over those tabloids? Want me to rough 'em up?" Though she said that with a smile, she meant it. No one would hurt her friend's feelings if she could help it. Which was why she was really hoping that Adeline would never, ever be a target of Reizo's. There would be a huge fight if that happened. A fight between the pair was definitely not something anyone should see.
Ah. Adeline was dead on. There was definitely no escaping telling her what was wrong. Sighing slightly, she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Oh, how to put it? "I had this weird dream last night..." she started, averting her eyes to stare at the floor. "This guy I knew from a really long time ago was in it. We met up again, but I can't remember the consequences in the dream. Somehow, I ended up realizing that I still loved him, even though he had pretty much screwed me over in the past. But, due to various circumstances, there was no way that we could be together." It sounded like a fairytale, but the reality was that it was true. She was chalking it up to be a dream, but that wasn't the exact truth. But she had had a similar dream to it once. That had to count for something. She couldn't have been a complete liar. "So we decided that we would act like we hated each other in public, and care for each other when we were alone. But after that, I woke up. I never got to see how it all turned out."
A wry smile appeared on her lips and she turned her head to face her friend. "I know. I'm getting way too worked up over a dream, but I always a do." A half lie. A slight frown etched itself on to her lips, and she stared at Adeline through half-lidded eyes. "Do you think it would have had a happy ending?" There was no denying the slight bit of hope in her voice. Though, Hikari partially knew the answer. No. It'll never work.

Adeline's coppery eyes focused on the relaxed pink of the covers before her. Hikari had had a curious dream, and it seemed even more curious she'd be this worked up over such a small fictitious storyline. Well, the answer was pending. If it was a movie, it would have a happy ending. If it was a book, it wouldn't. A dream? She tapped her chin thoughtfully, stroking the porcelien skin as if it would fuel her to further inquire. Her alarm clock beeped, and her golden gaze trailed towards the electronic device, trailing away from her prior focal point. A curious question, indeed. "Hm. It depends on the boy and the girl. If they're both willing to stay honest with each other, call it off before things get messy again, then I guess it'd be fine." She looked overwhelmed by the question of her logic. Knowing what the people were like probably would have helped. "Then again they'd both have to really like eachother. I don't know- it'd be easier in real life. Because then I could say whatever's gonna happen would happen." Adeline wasn't a strong believer in fate, nor karma. Tabloids and their acid assumptions wasn't payback for stealing a cookie two years ago. She sighed, tilting her head slightly to the side. "Kind of funny you'd be so worried, though. A dream is a dream." She added a smile on the end of the sentance, to refrain from making it sound mean. Not quite one to judge. She tilted her head back again. "Naw, the tabloids can't follow me here." She sounded unnecessarily relieved.

An almost miserable smile took up residence on glossy lips. Even though that had been the expected answer, whatever piece up a happy mood she had died on the spot. She rested her chin on the top of her knees, eyes trained on the floor. It made since, really. Unrequited love never really worked out in the end - except in the movies and fairy tales. So where did that leave her...? In a very harsh reality. That was where. "Yeah. A dream's just a dream," she murmured, her voice almost thick with emotion. It hadn't been that bad when she had suspected it herself, but now that Adeline had confirmed her fears... It really hurt.
She nodded deftly at the relieved sound in Adeline's voice. At least no one was picking on her. Yet. "Have you made any friends yet?" she questioned after a long moment of silence.

Adeline's eyes were now fixated upwards, trying to ignore Hikari's sadness. It wasn't that she didn't care, it was that she could never really quite handle a crying person, or one who's lower lip was wobbling. "B-but I mean, there could be some twist in the plot and they'll fall in love with eachother! I've seen it happen!" She quickly rushed after Hikari's small input. It wasn't a strech when a couple beat all odds to be together- why, there were stories all over about people overcoming some impossible obstacle for eachother. With a romantic, forlorn sigh, Adeline brought her thoughts back to Earth. "Friends besides you?" Her lips pulled taut into a dissatisfied line, raising her shoulders in a feeble shrug. "Acquantinces. I have a wonderful room mate named Pedro. I don't know if we're friends, but he's been really great." Her fingers brushed over the still-bumpy scar. "And Sean, we worked together once. Otherwise I haven't been able to relate to anybody." Her worried gaze shifted towards the floor, remembering the countless list of people she'd had once in her phone book. After The Incident, her number had to be changed- Adeline was still clueless as to who had really cared. "But that's okay. I'm not here to be Ms. Popular."

"It's fine. You don't have to cheer me up," she smiled brightly. How could she make someone like Adeline feel bad? Come on. The girl had been through enough already. "I should have listened to his warning when we first met." Oblivious that she had just revealed herself as someone who had just told a hypothetical lie, she laughed. "I'm fine." A lie. "Really." Bigger lie. Hikari finally turned to face her friend. Talking was always fun, right? Right. "I'm really glad that you have a nice roommate, then. I was kind of worried, to tell the truth." A long black hair was flipped out of her face. Talking about her own roommate was out of the question, of course. At the 'Ms. Popular' comment, an incredibly realistic smile lit up on her lips. "Still, I hope you make a lot of friends."

[[Mine is short too. Dx]]
"That's what friends are for." She smiled reassuringly, but the easy smile dissapeared and was replaced with a confused frown immediately after Hikari said: "I should have listened to his warning when we first met." It either meant that this 'dream' wasn't a dream at all, and was actual reality, or that these dreams came in some sort of chain. Like a story sequence. She hadn't really heard of that before, but she hadn't heard of somebody getting so worked up about a dream either. It didn't matter why she had added the small twist, Adeline didn't feel like pushing the topic that made her so sad. Maybe the prying would be appropriate some other time. "Don't worry about me, really." Waving a hand, as if to imply she wanted to dismiss the topic, Adeline's familiar grin resurfaced. "We all can't be natural socialites." She stood, streching and muting her yawn before turning back towards her friend. "I'm kind of hungry, though. I'm not sure why- I ate a huge breakfast." If Hikari didn't want to come and get some lunch, she understood. They could probably meet up later and discuss further- but it also gave Hikari the oppourtunity to have some time alone if she needed it.
