"The mountains due have a certain allure," R'lan admitted. "As for our choice in views, I enjoy the night more than the morning. It's either the sunsets and moonlight or just the fact that I dislike getting out of bed." R'lan laughed.

"I hadn't thought about that," Verenna admitted. "I love watching the phases of the moon." To Baneth, she quickly asked, We can see the moon from where the weyr is, can't we? Baneth turned her head slowly to Verenna, eyes whirling in amusement. Of course. And if we can't, I can always fly you to a place where we can. Right. I'd almost forgotten. Sorry. Out loud, Verenna asked R'lan (for she knew Baneth had been), "Have you been to the beach here yet?"

"No, I haven't," R'lan replied. "Shall we go?"
Ellorth almost preened with satisfaction at how the conversation was going.

"Sure. You'd probably enjoy it here more if you had someone showing you all the interesting things around." Verenna had no problem with that.

"Sounds good," R'lan replied as he climbed up onto Ellorth's back. Ellorth turned his head and eyed his rider. Rune protested at the movement and disappeared to find a better place to doze off.

Verenna smiled and swung herself up upon Baneth's neck ridges. She gave R'lan and Ellorth a salute and a grin before Baneth gracefully launched them out of the weyr.

R'lan looked out over the Weyr. The sun was streaming out over the opposite side. He smiled slightly, despite the fact that he would've liked to have slept a bit longer. It was a good day, just as yesterday had been a good day.

R'lan glanced at the mug of klah in his hand. The gift from his brother had been unexpected but R'lan hoped it meant his brother had received his letter and had come around finally. His brother had resented R'lan for many years for the fact that he had become a dragonrider. He sipped the klah. His mouth felt unusually dry and the moment after he had swallowed the klah it returned to that state.
Is something the matter, Mine?
R'lan shook his head. "I don't know." He stared down at his mug and realized his hands were shaking slightly. He sniffed the klah. It didn't smell quite right. R'lan threw the mug aside. He wasn't one to run to a healer but suddenly his brother's gift seemed less like a gift. He rushed to Ellorth, feeling a weakness in his muscles. "Take me to the healer, Ellorth!"
Ellorth swung his head around in concern as R'lan struggled to climb onto Ellorth. R'lan?! Eyes whirling orange in distress he reared up and wrapped one forepaw around his rider. He took off towards the infirmary. Minoa! Mine demands you! Ellorth didn't bother restricting the sending to the healer, though he did purposefully send it to her.

Baneth and Verenna arrived at R'lan's weyr from the healer's, and the rider quickly got to work. A mug, a mug, a mug, she chanted to herself, scanning the room. Ah! There was a red mug lying on the ground, chipped, ((if you don't mind)) as if it had been dropped.
There was also a small kettle of still-warm klah ((again, making assumptions)) near the small fire. R'lan had been drinking klah...just to be safe, Verenna grabbed a small sample of the klah as well, putting it in another of R'lan's mugs.
Then the two took off again, back to the healer's.
