A solitary bee buzzed angrily in Blaze's face, and darted for his nose, only to drop harmlessly to the ground as he fused its wings to its body. **Of course. They seem to be well quieted now. Take care to leave them enough to feed their young.** At the mention of his past, a shadow passed over his mind, and his sends lost their cheer. **There is nothing of my past worth knowing. It is a long and bloody story, and it ended in pain and loss. It's best I not reopen old wounds. Perhaps you could tell me more about these dense forests, since you seem to know them well. That would be more constructive.** Yet sensing it might be in his best interests to let her have what she wanted, he continued. **But if you wish to know, I will answer a single question.**

Dancer made her way calmly to the tree. She was sure to take slow breaths and keep her mouth shut. If she was stung at all her actions never showed it. His request of her made her frown just a bit. Any other time she would have enjoyed talking about anything but now she needed to not think about anything but what she was doing. *Tell me of your tribe then. How you came to work fire and all.* Setting the basket down she started to calmly remove hunks of wax and honey. Placing them in the basket neatly.

**I have always worked heat and flame, ever since I first singed my father's eyebrows off when he pinched my cheek as a babe. At first I could only heat things hot enough to make one want to drop them, and cool myself when the sun was too hot even for me. But I pushed myself harder and harder every day, untill my fire became a weapon and tool that I knew as well as my own body. There were a few others with the same magic, but never did anyone approach my level of controll.** He paused as the bees began to swarm around him, then dispersed. **My tribe... we were Dunerunners. We called ourselves that because we were light and strong enough to skitter over the soft sands like wind-spiders. (Adobe version of the camel spider) That's what the humans called us; wind-spiders, after those vicious little beasts. And we lived up to it. Vicious. We played a deadly game with the humans, us hunting them, them hunting us. But there was no anger, no hatred, a sort of sordid sportsmanship. More often than not we would laugh and go our seperate ways when our nomadic ways crossed paths, and once in a summer's rain we helped eachother. We were too deadly for warfare, they with their bows that stood taller than an elf, and we with our speed and stealth. Of course, that didn't stop the more hotheaded youngsters of our two races from fighting, stealing, and taking the occasional ear. Besides, we stuck mostly to the cliffs and dunes, they took the grasses and scrubland. They needed more water than we did, so it was an unspoken agreement that the elves took the lesser. It kept the peace. We were happy, and as far as I saw the humans were happy too.**

*That did the trick. Thank you.* She said when finished. Lifting the basket she moved steadily back to the place Blaze stood. Bees still buzzing about she lifted a small bit of honey still in its comb. *Here you are. Have a treat on the way back and I will tell you about the jungle if you like.* Dancer removed a few bees and once a good distance from the hive if any were still about she felt it was ok to swat them. If Blaze looked he could see she was stung a few times as the well tanned flesh around the bee sting swelled bit and got red. *Can you carry the basket for me though?* Her mood seemed to be improving if only slightly.

Blaze took the honeycomb with a delighted grin, and put the whole peice in his mouth, happily chewing the wax. A bit of the gold liquid dribbled down his chin, and the armadillo on his shoulder began to lick at it. **Of course I like. Mmmm, good batch. Really sweet. You should squeeze the stingers out of those welts, and put some mud on them when we get back to the beach.** Regardless of her mood, his mind was back on honey. **Shure, I will carry the honey. It must be murder to get out of that cat's fur. Lets get out of here before the smoke wears off.** The bees were begining to buzz angrily, and Blaze was not going to wait around for them to get nasty.

After the basket was taken she started picking out any stingers left in her. The honey on his made her think of Reilm and the juice running down his chin last night. It must be a male thing she thought with a slight shake of her head. Fire Bright was nowhere near them and the hive. He instead kept watch from a distance and circled the area. *I won't ride him if I was just in a hive because yes it does make his fur awfuly messy.* She sucked on her fingers a bit then put a small hunk of comb into her mouth. "mmmmmm" *This is such a treat. Then we can make lights and various other things with the wax comb.* As they walked back to the cove Dancer didn't say much. She was still mad at Blaze but slowly getting over it. Still she didn't trust him much and unless he thought of something to get her talking she might not speak the whole way back..

**Lights, you say? I have seen the wax used as a healing balm for sore skin, but how in twenty moons do you make lights from wax? Nevemind, I'll find out later. What sort of creature is this?** He held up a small, squirming red and blue frog that he's snatched from a leaf as they passed. **It looks tasty.** He looked at the hand that held it puzzledly. **I cannot feel my fingers...**

*High Ones you fool* She slaps his hand making the frog fall. *That little tree hopper is going to kill you if we don't get something in you to heal it.* She takes the basket from him. *Give me the basket and you will have to ride with me. NO arguments about it either!* She gives a yell and the large cat is there from nowhere. She hops easily on his back and holds out her hand to help Blaze.

**What? Is it poisonous?** Blaze seemed more curious than afraid, and didn't seem paniced in the least. **In that case, wait a second.** He tore a thin peice of cloth off his frayed tunic, pulled a small spike from his belt, and fasioned a tourniquent around his lower arm, winding it tight by means of the spike. Clamly, he accepted the hand up and situated himslef behind her. **Does cooking those little wetskins take the poison out?**

Dancer took a breath. She needed to calm down too. *Hold on.* A light squeeze of the legs and Fire Bright was off. Moving deeper into the forest and not back to the cove where one might think they were going. *Do you always just touch things and such without knowing?* The question sounded a lot like her Mother and made Dancer roll her eyes lightly.

**I touched it because it stood out.** Blaze normally would have been enjoying the ride, but he was instinctually trying to keep his heartrate down. Now HE was trying to keep his mind on other things. **We came from the other way. What are you going to do to me?** His sends had already begun to develop a fuzzy edge to them, and the anger that normally would have accompanied them at being so talked to was gapingly absent.

"I'm going to drop you in the woods and let you die far away so you don't stink up the place." Her tone was joking and that is why she had to say it and not send it. Still his answer to why he touched might be the same one she would give her own Mother. Was she starting to see things in him that she liked? What a distasteful thought. *We are going to look for a special plant that will help fight the poison. I just hope I can find it fast enough if at all.* She could feel those fuzzy edges and it worried her a bit. She didn't wnt anyone to die anymore. Not even the hot tempered Blaze.

Blaze's head nodded, and for asecond he wondered where he was. **What does it look like? Another pair of eyes always helps...** Again, his sends faltered. He tightened the tourniquent. Then they started up again. **Does heat destroy the venom?** He was eyeing his arm like he'd eye an old shoe. If worst came to worst, he could send a blade of intense heat through his arm at the elbow, effectiveley cauterizing it off from the rest of the body. But without a healer; he would loose it.
