"looking"

Looking at life
It's so fragile and transparent
yet rigid and unclear
with many observations and estimations
I can see it, I can hear

Full with beautiful disasters
and ugly victories
It's right infront of my eyes
yet sometimes can't be seen or found

It's like an ocean
you either float or drown
or you can swim forever
It's like a dessert
with you as a grain of sand
being carried
by the everlasting wind
to an unheard of land
to an unknown destination

Living it is strange
Sometimes you love it
Sometimes you fight it
Tackling its wall
One falls down
but countless still stands

Blood and flesh
Black and white
Emotions and logic
and everything in between

Unavoidable it always has been
Undefinable is its defintition
Unpredictable it seems
Understandble it is and isn't
Unlike dreams , it's real
Unlimited is its duration
Unloveable it can be
Unless you at least try and live it.

I second that, but you really don't move on, You just learn how to live without them!

its probally WAYY too late but...im a true poet i have written poems that have won money and authours choice awards.. i specialise in war poetry

least we forget

On the shores of Gallipoli,
where the poppies sway.
On the battlefields of Vietnam,
where the bodies lay.
In the jungles of Congo,
where time stands still.
In our homes, in our hearts,
remember we will.

the telegram

The telegram came one sunny Sunday morn,
Elsie stood at the stove, quietly shucking corn,
It was Winter, and the skies were supposed to be grey,
But they were clear as far as the shores of the bay,
And Elsie absentmindedly thought of what weather could mean,
To her fiance who sat in a trench across the sea.
Perhaps he was drinking, he had always had that vice,
Or maybe he was eating a meal of stew and rice,
Was he bunking down in a barn full of hay?
Had he perhaps been withdrawn from the line today?
Did the soldiers have padres and sermons and prayers?
Did they have dreams and hopes and fears?
Elsie would never know, for there came a knock at the door,
She wiped her hands and answered, shoes clicking on the floor,
On the doorstep was the boy, and in his grasp a telegram,
Elsie thanked him and opened it with trembling hands.
She felt her breath catch in her throat as she saw the words,
The teapot whistled shrilly, but Elsie hadn't heard,
"Private Peters killed in action" the telegram read,
"Victim of a shell, there were fourteen other dead".
They were due to be married, when he came home from the war,
And he had been planning on a career enforcing the law,
But now he was dead, and he would never come home,
And Elsie was truly, and completely, alone.

war

Hark who hears me, war is bad
To kill good men so young.
And the world must be barking mad
To greet a war with arms outflung.

armentieres

The war has dragged on for years and years
Destroying our hopes and feeding our fears
We are the war, it's cogs and it's gears
We run the show at quaint Armentieres.
“Mademoiselle from Armentieres, parley-voo"
We sing our grim songs just for you
We love quaint Armentieres, yes we do
"Hinky-dinky parley-voo."

heroes

Heroes are a long lost age
Of men who die so young
Of soldiers parading in uniforms beige
Who keep keeping on until the job is done.
Men who don't know what is means to lose
Who kill just because they were told
Heroes are men in khakis and blues
Men who shall never grow old.

bay

The whip felt warm but fresh,
as it leapt accross her chestnut flesh,
She looked out on the bay,
her whinnies have gone away,

She saw the rows of bodies out there,
She felt that awful fear,
that feeling in your stomach,
when you feel your gunna vomit,

She dug her heels in,
She thought she was gonna grin,
just to be in a saddle again,
she thought she was insane.
