Artist: Lyrics Song: Music of the Night Lyrics
PHANTOM:
Night-time sharpens, heightens each sensation . . . Darkness stirs and wakes imagination . . . Silently the senses abandon their defences . . .
Slowly, gently night unfurls its splendour . . . Grasp it, sense it - tremulous and tender . . . Turn your face away from the garish light of day, turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light - and listen to the music of the night . . .
Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams! Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before! Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar! And you'll live as you've never lived before . . .
Softly, deftly, music shall surround you . . . Feel it, hear it, closing in around you . . . Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind, in this darkness which you know you cannot fight - the darkness of the music of the night . . .
Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world! Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before! Let your soul Take you where you long to be ! Only then can you belong to me . . .
Floating, falling, sweet intoxication! Touch me, trust me savour each sensation! Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in to the power of the music that I write - the power of the music of the night . . .
i love this song is the bast.

Gerry adds the rough voice to the Phantom and his passion when he sings actually makes me so much of a Gerard fangirl it is crazy.

angel_of_joy Gilwen angel_of_joy i really don't understand how people cannot find the phantom of the opera in general not just with Gerry in the role incredibly sexy. there is just something about the sexy masked men who lurk in the shadows... like Zorro and Dracula and The Phantom... lucky for us Gerry has played two out of three Indeed. Erik was sexy to me back when he was smelly, noseless, and slept in a coffin (book). It's just something about his talent and tortured psyche, I guess. xd oh i know what you mean. i have been in love with the phantom since i was about 8 years old. its one of those obsessions i never grew out of I know what you mean. 3nodding

I have both the origanal London cast version(never acctually seen the play though, unfortunately, but I hope to someday) and the movie version on CD and I think Gerry does a better job singing the Phantom then Micheal(sp?) Crawford no offense to him just Gerry has a slightly lower voice that I always imagined the Phantom would have.

I have only seen the play once, but hope to see it dozens of more times!!!! I own the OCR and the Movie CD, plus the Lon Chany (original Phantom, before Webber got a hold of the book, making it into a play!!!! It was done in 1925!!) and the new movie, though I hope to collect all versions of it!!
Have loved the Phantom for as long as I can remember!

I have only seen the movie (600 million gazillion times though heart ), and that's when I started appreciating POTO. Before the London cast CD that my parents had was meaningless. Now it's all I listen to. I was actually depressed for two months after i saw the movie (stupid Raoul! crying ). Wow I havea long story with Gerard, almost met him once (soo close domokun ) and have two POTO autographs from him. I have thread on it. Called Guess What??!

Prepare yourself, this will be a long post. Of course is was Gerry singing! You can tell, besides the only voice that was dubbed as far as main characters was Carlotta. The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite movie of all time. Around my 15th birthday I saw the poster in Blockbuster advertizing it and I said hmm...I wish I could go see it live in NY before seeing the movie. Well that didn't happen so in the middle of May I rented it. Me and my mom left it in the DVD player and when we came home it got to the part where Raoul says "we have all been blind..." And me and my mom thought it looked stupid XD So we started it back to the begining and I was fascinated. But the part where I fell in love with it was when Christine is singing "Think of me" and then they show you Erik standing in the cellars listening. I wanted to cry ^-^ I think Gerry did a FANFRICKINGTASTIC job. He added such sexiness to the role. And he did such a great job portraying the sadness of the Phantom. Also, the way he sings...so dark and emotional. Even if he didn't have tons of training he can sing. I wish the actors on the live musical had a deeper and darker voice like his. It's hot. But like I said, he really did a great job. He was charismatic, sensual, and had such sexual magnetism. The emotions he showed and all that was fabulous. All in all I love the film, I'm obsessed with phantom of the Opera and hot Mr. Gerry.

Hmmm..... not a single taker on these magazines? I'll be throwing them in the trash before the weekend so if anyone is interested, please drop me a private message before 5 p.m. PDT on Friday.
They are FREE! You just have to let me know you want them and pay for the postage. I'll throw in a copy of the Hollywood Reporter too, but it has the same cover as one of the Daily Variety magazines. So that's two Daily Variety magazines plus one Hollywood Reporter magazine, all with Phantom of the Opera covers.
They are going in the trash at 5 p.m., Friday, September 1, unless someone wants them.

I have got to say he was pretty awesome in the movie. Gerard sang very well for not really having a career in singing.

Phantom was the first movie I saw with Gerard in it - he did an amazing job, and now I am a true Phan, I listen to the Original London Cast recording frequently - not as good as the movie though. I would like to see it live and I hope to when I go to NY this Spring. My two favorite songs are probably the Overture and Music of the Night. (Which I'm proud to say I can sing like Gerry!)
