I hate Twilight.
I liked it when I first read it but them I started to work out all the non-flawed characters and that Bella had no personality.
And they still hadn't had sex. It annoyed me xD

I generally don't like vampire stories period- no offense to those two do. Just not my thing. I'm more of a zombie and demon girl.
But the girl I used to write with was convinced she could get me to like vampire stories and was always buying me vampire books. Among which was Twilight. I swear, the best thing to come of that book was the fit on fandom wank over it.
I felt gypped by that book in many respects. The lack of sex was the icing on the cake.

Eh, I didn't mind Twilight. You just have to take it at face value. It's like a junk food book. Something to pick up and read when you're sick of thinking too hard when reading. XD
And Harry Potter was awesome until the sixth book. The disappointment runs deep on the sixth book. crying

Oh, I love zombies! I'm into zombies and werewolves, but not vampires. A book I like about werewolves is Sharp Teeth. It's written all in poem format.
I liked Harry Potter until the last one. It was completely epic, but the ending was anticlimactic and the epilogue just killed seven good books for me.

SugarRos ...Twilight.... Something to pick up and read when you're sick of thinking too hard when reading. XD
The very reason a friend of mine loves Twilight so much. She doesn't need to think while reading it.
And the reason why I wont bother purchasing it if I ever decide to read it. I like needing to think to follow a story. I like complexity and depth. I also like dark and upsetting stories too, but that's another thing all together. 3nodding

I dont like Twilight or Harry Potter.
Im more of a non-teen book kinda girl. I love to read a book supernatural or horror book that is about everything and doesn't miss out vital parts like teen books do.

The end of Harry Potter- I was one of those people convinced that the leaked PDFs were hoaxes because of the pure O_o that is the epilogue.
Talk about fishing for goats.
Erm, sorry. In joke. Fishing for goats = baiting fanficcers.

Harry Potter started me off writing. I adore the series for the pure imagination and wonder of the world J.K created. Writing wise, it's not terribly impressive. In fact, Rowling is a pretty erratic writer. She wrote thousands of pages for that series and she still isn't anywhere close to being developed. Also, very few of her characters are genuinely interesting. She really outdid herself with Snape but that was about it. For the record, I hated the sixth book. There aren't words strong enough for it. Even a particularly venomous use of the word "merely" isn't enough.
Before I read Harry Potter I also loved Madeling L'Engle books. Many Waters was pretty hardcore. I was seven and one of the twins was about to lose his virginity in the past. Insane.
As for books of literary merit that I adore:
The Picture of Dorian Gray--I adore it because I disagree with so much of it. I also love Oscar Wilde. The Ballod of Reading Gaul is a great poem. I also just love crazy, morally debased pretty boys.
On the Wings of a Falcon--It's Cynthia Voigt and so, yes, a young adult novel...but I love it so. I love all of her stuff. But I am in love with the main character in this.
A Tale of Two Cities--I don't unerstand how anyone could dislike this book. It has political intrigue, historical basis, romance, espionage, and heroism. It also has my favorite ending of all time.
A Separate Peace--One thing I agree with Julia Roberts on. I love this book. I love the internal conflict. I love the unique light it sheds on that time period. I love Phinny and his tragic pride.
Now, if you're wondering what all thoes books have in common? Character Death. I believe strongly in character death. Especially when it really hurts me.

Michael Ende. It's a pitty that not all his works are translated into English.
Astrid Lindgren. She had some great books for the 7-13yr old group, unsure how easily they are found in English though.
Dune (Forgot the author.. someone Herbert. It's been years since I last read it)
The X-wing series (star wars, written by multiple authors)
Tales of the Otori (book 1-3, after that it became boring)
Anita Blake series. Vampires + sex = yay
Oh, and I'd better not forget that Terry Pratchett's stuff is very enjoyable to read too.

Have you read the black dagger brotherhood or the darkhunter series? They have non-sparkly vampires too.
