Sameena lent forward and jumped backwards slightly to avoid the tip of the templar's blade. She barely escaped the attack as they were battling at such close quarters.
She heard the man's question, knowing that should she speak, she could easily be recognised if they met again.
As she raised her sword in a defensive position, she noticed Noor running out of the door, screaming for help. Hawk grimaced, as she knew she would soon have two or three town guards to battle with too.
Realising this, she turned and leaped towards the uncovered window in order to flee. Just as she was about to escape, she took a throwing knife and threw it almost horizontally towards the half-naked man, hoping that she could make up for her previous error...

As expected the assassin didn't reply at all but he or she turned to run after Noor left screaming. His sword still raised he was, with some effort, able to deflect the knife from striking his stomach. Instead it cut across his left arm and he grimaced at that "Damn assassin I'll need to track him or her down" he said thinking the possibility the assassin was a woman.
He would have chased but decided not to when two guards entered "Go find that b*****d, they were one of those assassin heretics no doubt," he said, the guards nodded before rushing off. That done, he felt himself fall forward and he was lucky to be such a favoured customer here. His wounds would be treated and he'd likely get a chance to finish what he paid for.

Hawk cursed herself silently as she saw the Templar deflect her knife. It would have been buried to the hilt in his abdomen if he hadn't blocked her throw. When she saw the guards enter the room, she quickly threw herself from the windowsill, grabbing onto whatever piece of architecture she could to lower herself onto the streets. Without looking back she raced off into the night and sped back to head-quarters.
She was definately NOT looking forward to reporting her failure to Abu Dara; the Assassin Master...

The time passed much more quickly then it usually did even with Noor. Such a distraction was never good for fun let alone his work, so he found himself leaving dissatisfied. He'd have to hunt that assassin who ever s/he was "I'll kill that murderer" was his mutter as he rode back to the barracks.
(Erm short but meh.)

With a deep sense of foreboding, Sameena mounted her black horse outside Jerusalem's walls and rode back to Masyaf, pushing her mount to full speed. She frankley didn't care if she aroused the suspicions of the guards in the small villages, as she had much greater problems to worry about.
Eventually, after what seemed an age of riding, she left her horse in the stables outside of Masyaf's gates, and headed towards Masyaf Castle. It was a very imposing building, impressively built, and standing since the Bizantine era. She muttered a quick du'wa to herself again before trecking up the hills towards her Master's abode...

His return to the fort and the barracks was as expected, he got back mostly unnoticed. However someone was waiting that man as usual, he wasn't a friend nor an enemy so it confused Kains as to why the man bothered waiting for his return. Usually all he did was berate his fellow Templar on his path of sexual gratification outside of marriage.
Kain would of course reply "I'm not married and will only get married when there's more benefit. Besides why tie yourself down to one woman?". The other Templar's reply was always one of silence. At one point the Templar would quote a passage from the bible only for it to be ignored as "It doesn't mean that to me so I don't care".

When she reached the large hallway of the Masyaf castle, she slowly and solemly trecked up the stairs to her master's study. The man dressed in black, with a long, cleric-like beard was Abu Dara, Lord of the Assassins, a truely feared individual... When he heard her footsteps, he turned to face her, an expectant smile on his face, his arms outstretched:
"Ahhh, Asalaamu wa'alaikum sister, it is good to see you again." He said, his voice gentle, with a Saracon accent. Yet the mask of his voice hid a ferocious attitude beneath it.
"Wa' alaikum salaam my master..." She said unable to hold her master's eye due to the shame of failure. Abu Dara noticed her unease immediately, and moved closer to her;
"My child...what troubles you?" He said with dangerous softness, lifting Hawk's gaze to his own icy, blue stare. "I...I have failed you my master..." "Failed me?" He said his voice tensing slightly. "The templar...he still lives...a thousand apologies my lord!" Sameena said, looking her master straight in the eye as she told him the truth.
Abu Bakr's lips pursed, and an angry glint flickered in his eyes;
"I send you...my greatest assassin, to complete one of THE MOST important tasks I have given you...and you come back to me with nought but apologies?!" His voice was now filled with rage at her misdead, and he forcefully slapped her across her face, causing a red whelt to form on her tanned skin. Hawk took the blow without making a sound, even though the slap had caused a trickel of blood to run down her cheek;
"You...you are my greatest student! A miracle! A female too! Unheard of! It was a miracle you were even accepted into the brotherhood, and you fail me now? Perhaps I was wrong, and you are not such a gift after all..." He said, as he paced about his study, his eyes till fixed on hers.
"I am sorry my master, I emplore you, please let me try again, I shall not fail you a second time!"
"No! You are now too easily recognised. Placing you back on this mission would be foolish. No...no my child, this burden shall pass to another. You must first regain my trust in you.."
His words stung her, and she responded rashly:
"This is but one failure in a history of successes, and yet I lose your trust?" She said angrily. In response Abu Dara rounded on her again and grabbed her firmly by the jaw;
"It takes but one failure to destroy an empire! But one weak link to snap a chain! It was not some mere, corrupt merchant, this man was a key player in the continuation of the Crusades...so do NOT lecture me on trust, girl!" He said with venom. He released his hold and turned his back to her.
"Perhaps, a simple demotion will be enough to teach you a lesson.." He said matter-of-factly, turning to face her again. "You will be given other, less important tasks from now on, and in time, maybe I shall give you back your Templar..."

The "conversation" finished and Kain wondered off not encountering any more roadblocks. He returned to his room and lay down on his simple bed "So an assassin tried to kill me eh?" he thought to himself. He'd have to look into this further find out more about any possible assassin groups. (Blarg. >.<)

Hawk let the cold air of the night lash her face as she rode back to Damascus. The pain of the stinging wind helped to calm her now troubled mind. Her? Demoted? The Holy Land's most feared huntress? She just couldn't believe what she had been through, how could she had disappointed her master so? Still he had given her another chance, although she felt in her heart that he was particularly hard on her as she was female. Although she would never tell him this opinion to his face...
Eventually she arrived in Damascus. The air was still bitterly cold as she paid for her horse to be stabled. Her first task was to report to the head of the Bureau in Damas and seek his knowledge.
She moved her hand to her side where the parchment containing the name of her next mark was tied. Her master had allocated her to lesser victims to give time for the situation to calm down. She now had to do all the detective work herself, whereas before her informants would do this for her. She was an initiate again. Initially the plan was to remove the Templar leader, thus destroying morale and creating disorder, now that this had failed she had to go about the job the hard way. Still, if she could destroy the base of the Templar pyramid, the top would fall...yes...perhaps...perhaps this demotion was more of a gift from Allah then she had thought? Maybe there was some divine plan behind her failure?
Only time would tell..

Time passed and morning soon came with morning cam duty. But Kain would alter his duty and pursue any information on the assassins. To do that he would first of all pursue through an open search. Which usually involved a paladin and a number of armed guards it would at least let them show they were still in control.

Sameena eventually arrived back in Damascus, and stabled her horse before entering into the gates. The sun was high and hot in the sky, the very air was thick and stifling. Sameena's white robes were her only salvation from the heat.
Her first task of the morning was to seek out the head of the local assassin's bureau. These establishments were always well disguised, located usually in a disused building accessable only via the rooftops. This prevented anyone accidentaly wandering in.
After a short walk following the directions on her map, she found the building that the bureau was nestling in. Sameena gave a quick glance around her to check if she was being observed, before leaping up the side of the building, and disappearing over a wall.
She eventually saw the tell-tale mark that showed the location of the bureau, and clambered down into the cool, marble interior. There was a small fountain used for drinking and for making ablutions before prayer. Sameena gratefully drank and washed her face before going in to talk to the Rafeeq.

(Finally an idea.)
The search was swift and harsh on any who interfered. Kain led a group of soldiers through the town. They broke into the homes of people who had been watched. By late morning no less then ten people were in chains. Kain grimaced some what it was hard to accept that this was all his doing. Eventually he was able to throw off any guilt.
Each prisoner was dragged to the fortress and locked away, each separate a Templar ready to interrogate them. They'd had their eye's open for these people the attempted assassination attempt just so happened to be the trigger.

"Safety and Peace Rafeeq.." Sameena said to the bureau leader as she entered the inner chamber. "And upon you, also, Sameena." He returned, his eyes somewhat cold as they met Hawk's. This subtletly, however, did not go unnoticed. Hawk was trained in perception, and with a grimace, she quickly retorted:
"It would seem you have heard of what became of my last mission? Gossip travels faster then the wind it would seem..." She said slightly venomously; angry that as always, she was under greater scruteny then her fellow, male Assassyum. It seemed to her that they were waiting...perhaps even hoping that she would fail. Many of her Brothers envied her skill and position at the Master's right hand. And now...how she had fallen...
"Huh!" Was all the Rafeeq said, as he brushed off Sameena's angry response; "Don't take that tone with me "Sister!" You have finally been brought down from the heavens to join the rest of us on the Earth! Perhaps it will teach you some humility.." He said smiling slightly.
He had never been pleased when Sameena had proven herself worthy of the Bretheren. A traditional man, he simpley couldn't stand the thought that she was greater then he.
In response to his harsh reply, Sameena's breath hissed through clenched teeth as she attempted to maintain her composure:
"I have been charged to take the life of a local informant to the Templars...Would you honour me with some directions as to where I should commence my searches?"
"Certainly Sister!" He said sarcastically; the corners of his mouth twitching with pleasure at her discomfort.
He unrolled a large map of Damas, and marked several spots where she could potentially gain information on her next target; a supplier of information, more inpolitely known as a spy. His name was Jerad, and he would soon be supplying Sameena his final thread of information...

Kain made his way down into the dungeons of the fortress. As always it smelled foul, reaching the bottom of the stairs he headed into the main area to find the new guests! Each bound to the walls, no one was allowed to talk to them. If any of them attempted to communicate they'd be beaten. Kain stopped at the door of the first cell and sneered at it's inhabitant. The man in question was a French monk, this man had been watched for twelve months. They had evidence that he was involved in dark dealings.
Whether it was something to do with the the Assassins was a different matter entirely. Kain then moved on looking in on each cell thinking about what each was and why they'd been seized. Each was guilty of some sort of crime but which was the question.

After many hours of seraching and clever questioning (occasionally using a knife and her fists), Sameena located her mark in the Poor District of Damas. He was bartering loudly, and somewhat rudely for earthenwear pots at one of the covered Bazaars.
Silver Hawk, snorted quietly at his behaviour and wondered how someone so obnoxious could possibly be slipping dangerous information to the Templars about the Bretheren?
Hawk continued to observe him from amongst the crowd; doing her very best impression of an Islamic scholar. She moved slowly with the crowd but never once removed her gaze from him. As he angrily completed his transaction with the merchant and began to exit the Bazaar, Sameena kept walking in the opposite direction until she was sure not he, nor anyone else would notice her turn around and follow...
Very slowly and deliberately, she continued to carefully follow the man, never once looking out of place. Never too far or too close to her target. Eventually he exited from the marketplace, and turned to an empty, shaded area that housed a small water fountain. She watched as he washed his face and drank from the small water source to cool down, mumbling to himself about: "The prices of simple goods these days!" As he continued to grumble, Sameena quietly stopped but a hair's breadth away from him and coughed gentley.
Jerad whipped around to face her, his eyes filled with surprise.
"Christ! Can't you wait your turn fool monk?! I was drinking here first!" He said angrily.
Good. Thought Hawk...
"But you see...I'm not here for the water; Jerad..."
"Wait...a woman? You're no monk! You're an Ah...!"
And before he could speak the last word Hawk grabbed him, flicked her wrist and rammed 7 inches of cold steal into his stomach. Her other hand covering his mouth to hide the screams of agony. Whilst still covering his mouth, she sat the dying man down on the fountain, her bloody hand hidden. With theatrical skill, she spoke to him as if in pleasant conversation:
"Tell me what you told them, and I will ease your passing..."
~
After a few minutes, the man lay dead against the fountain, his blood washing away in the cool waters. His funeral hymns; screams and cries of horror... The only guest, disappearing over the rooftops of Damas to the shouts and roars of the furious guards...
