Brad gave an exasperated sigh, yanking on his tie to loosen it as he looked over to Coyote. "First, my pet," he started, tossing the tie back into the car, "you came to me. I was simply dressing to impress you, and no one else. Second." He leaned into the car, grabbing his jacket and tossing it over his shoulder as he unbuttoned the cuffs of his sleeves. "This is a perfectly normal restaurant. You think I wore suits before I got this job? I'll have you know, my days were spent near naked, fancy is not my cup of tea." Rolling his sleeves up to his elbows, he also removed his vest and gave it the same treatment as the tie, unclasping the first few buttons of the shirt by his throat so that he looked like a slightly more classy version of his casual self. "Better?"

He turned and started to walk towards the restaurant, not paying the stomach grumble too much mind. It wasn't unnatural to be hungry, after all. "We'll have time to talk all you want tonight, isn't that the point of this?" Brad cast a bemused glance to Coyote, his expression neutral. "If you leave here hungry though, it's your own fault." As the two approached the front door, the Italian did not bother to stop by the short line, instead ushering Coyote inside and giving the host there a look that said he was expecting the worst. "Aldo."

The man in question - an elderly gent with salt and pepper hair and a distinctive air - turned to look at Brad. And then looked at him again. "Signor Falcone! Ah, we thought you had fallen off the face of the earth!"

"Just Brad tonight, Aldo. I assure you I'm alive, but my date wont be much longer if we exchange too many formalities."

Aldo nodded at the man, looking to Coyote with an apologetic smile. "Forgive me, signore, we will get you seated in post haste." Looking over the sheet on his post, he nodded, tapping a spot. "Your table is open, if you so desire, Signor--"

"That'd be great," Brad cut the other short, smiling tersely.

The elderly man smiled, gesturing for the two to follow. "This way, per favore." He lead the way through the restaurant, which was full but had tables and walls spaced in such a way that it did not look so crowded. The lights were dim for ambience, the tables set with crimson cloth and faux candles in smokey glass vases. The atmosphere provided was friendly and open, and indeed there were many people seated who wore casual clothing. Tourists, mostly, although a few people were wearing suits, likely for business.

Aldo lead the two through the tables towards the back, on a slight rise with a partial wall that secluded it from the rest of the restaurant. The tables here had booth-like seats that were arranged in a half circle, providing some form of privacy. The host put a few menu's on one of the tables, turning to face the two with a slight bow. "Your waiter will be with your shortly. Brad." There was a slight question to the last part, looking at the man in question.

He nodded, another thin smile forming. "Thank you, Aldo." Turning to Coyote, he motioned to the seats, before sliding through one side towards the middle.

As Brad changed his appearance and lectured Coyote, the younger man grimaced and kept his eyes on his shoes, looking like a student getting a scolding from his teacher. "Sorry Brad I didn't mean to upset you, I wasn't really that serious, I just have an odd sense of humour... And for the record you of all people don't have to dress up to impress me. Also if you're taking notes, I know you want to go slow with this relationship, but putting the mental image of you running about near naked doesn't help me restrain myself." finally coyote looked up and took a moment to admire the changes Brad had made ot his look, then met Brads eyes and gave him a lopsided grin. "If it's any consolation I think this look suits you a lot better anyway."

Coyote was quiet as they went into the restaurant, looking around and admiring the interior as he followed Brad and Aldo to the table. Sitting down Coyote took off his jacket and rested his elbows on the table as he propped his head in his hands. Coyote completely ignored the menu as he watched Brad get settled into his seat and after a moment spoke with a cautious tone. "So tell me, how should I address you? Mr. Brad Lee or Signor Falcone? I'm begining to regret not peeking at your record back at the club..."

A quiet sigh pushed through his teeth, indigo eyes shifting over to the young man. He was silent for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck before lacing his fingers together and resting them on the table. "I brought you here to know me, and this place knows me well. I've nothing to hide." Brad paused, before explaining, "Signor is my mother tongue for 'Mister,' and he called you 'sir'...knowing I'm of Italian heritage, you didn't really think my last name was Lee, did you?"

He chuckled to himself. All this time and no one had asked, so he supposed that most people accepted certain things at face value. "My last name is Falcone, although I'd rather it stayed between us. I'd prefer you call me Brad if you want me to be comfortable but I can't tell you which way to go with that." He leaned back against the booth, watching the young man with a calm smile. "You can ask me anything, Cai, and I'll answer." It reminded him of a certain deal he'd made with a certain red-head; he decided Coyote would be better company for such a situation, and that a trial run sure wouldn't hurt.

"I hope you'll be willing to talk about yourself as well, seeing as I know precious little about you other than that you think you're a midget and you adore ledgers." Brad's smile softened as he relaxed a little. "Am I ordering for you, since you don't seem terribly interested in food all of a sudden?"

Thinking about it for a moment Coyote shrugged and leaned back in his seat. "I guess I never thought about it, people are allowed to marry outside of their nationality, so for all I knew your mother was Italian and your father American? In truth it never even dawned on me that Lee might not be Italian, I've never been to that country or anything like that, so I've no idea what a proper Italian name might be. If you want me to call you Brad that's fine, I'll forget I ever heard Falcone if you'd rather that secret remain untouched for now. After all, you don't think my parents actually christened me Coyote do you? Unless you thought I was a Native American?" Coyote let out a short chuckle as he crossed his arms and shook his head, he off all people could understand people choosing aliases, though he suspected Brads motivations were rather different to his own.

When Brad offered to answer any question he was asked, Coyote got a thoughtful look, tilting his head back he starred up at teh ceiling for a while. "Hmmm... what to ask our tall dark and mysterious Host? It's not like I have a handy list of things I wanted to know about you." Coyote was silent a little longer tehn returned his gaze to Brad, his face carrying a slightly sinister grin. "I find myself caught between something naughty, like asking if you're a brief or boxers man, or something more innocent like your favourite colour? I'll need to think a little more on it... As for ordering go right ahead, just nothing with too much onion in it."

Brad chuckled. "It's not a secret, it's...a lack of association with family." A tight smile, followed by, "Of course I don't think your name is actually Coyote. Suits you well enough anyway." He watched the young man consider the options, unable to stop the slow smile that started to form as the silence stretched. He could only imagine what the other was thinking.

He spotted the waiter coming their direction, and sat up a little, trying not to look startled as Coyote settled on some questions. While he had half expected something like that, it still made him grin just a bit. "Boxer briefs and blue," he replied nonchalantly before turning to look at the waiter, who introduced himself as Vincent and did the standard questioning of drink and appetizer. Perhaps not so normally, however, he put down a basket of breadsticks, which Brad immediately moved towards Coyote. "Iced tea, please," he replied pleasantly, looking over to the young man at his side before ammending his request. "Actually, strike that. A peach bellini and a Sunset, water too. We'll worry about the food after that."

As the waiter left as quickly as he arrived, Brad turned to fix Coyote with a deeply amused smile, tilting his head to rest his temple against his knuckles. "Best breadsticks this side of Italy. What else can I answer for you, Cai? Or shall we play twenty questions?"

Hearing Brad order the drinks caused Coyote to quirk an eyebrow at his about turn. "I thought you said you didn't want to drink tonight? Hmmm... Should I take that to mean you're comfortable enough around me to let yourself have a few drinks or does it mean that you've already decided the only way you can get through the night with me is by dulling the experience with alcohol?" Coyote put on his best smile, hoping Brad would realise it was just a joke, rather than any criticism.

Waiting for the waiter to return, Coyote took one of the sticks and chewed on the end as he considered his next question. "Not bad, not sure if it's the best bread stick I've ever had but it certainly is good. But what else do I want to ask you... I've got so many questions but I'm not sure which to ask next. I'll keep things simple for now, like how are you finding it at the club? Settling in alright, getting along with everybody, that sort of thing?"

Smiling tersely, the man shrugged his shoulders. "It's just one, and I assure you it takes a lot more than a light wine mix to get me buzzed, let alone drunk." He leaned towards Coyote, moving his hand to briefly touch the other's chin, his smile twitching into something more suggestive, "I'm not about to let all my inhibitions go just yet, Cai. Not on the first date."

Brad leaned back again, stretching as if nothing had happened. "You probably know the answer to that better than me," he mused. "I've met a few people worth keeping; the rest aren't my biggest fans, and I'm not really bothered by it." He shrugged again. "If they're going to assume the worst of me, let them. Their loss." He smiled sideways at Cai, chuckling faintly. Sadly, that statement encompassed over half the Club, but it truly did not bother the older man. He was good at what he did, and if everyone expected him to be personable, they'd be in for a rude awakening.

"I know your take on the Club, and what you did before, but...are you from New York?" he questioned, tilting his head as he watched the young man.

Much to his annoyance, Coyote found his face reddening slightly after the brief touch and as Brad took back his hand Coyote glared through narrowed eyes as his lips contorted somewhere between a grin and a scowl. "You sir, are an evil flirt.."

Giving his head a quick shake, Coyote sighed as he regained some of his composer and watched Brads face. "Actually given how little time I spend in the club when the rest of you are around, I'm generally oblivious to whats going on between people. I was under the impression you were rather popular with everybody. But you're right, it is their lose and my gain, it just means I have less competition." Coyote smiled broadly in an effort to lighten the mood a little more and then slid along the couch of the booth, so he was sitting closer to Brad.

"From New York? Erm.. Yes and No. I was born here but my parents moved away to California when I was fourteen. I only moved back here a little more than a year ago. What about you? Have you been living in America long or did your parents emigrate?"

Brad simply smiled at the comment, giving a noncommital nod to the words about work. Granted, the older man hadn't met everyone, but those he did meet either liked him or did not; there was no grey area. Except with maybe Ferdinand, but he was fairly sure that was more in the 'dislike' category than not.

The man glanced over to Coyote, the arm along the back of the booth remaining where it lay, his fingers itching to touch the other's hair but refraining from it. "I see," he murmured in reply to the statement. "My...? Oh, no, my parents are both gone," he said without the slightest hint of dismay. "They never left Italy. I moved here shortly before high school, to live with some 'friends of the family.'" That actually translated into something else completely, but Brad was not yet willing to delve that deeply without some prompting. "So that's been what...nearly twenty years."

It took a great deal of control for him not to draw lines between the time he'd been in the States and Coyote's age. The waiter saved him from his dilemma, inclining his head towards his young date when the server put the Sunset down. To Coyote, he said, "It has vodka so make sure you eat more breadsticks." He winked, and turned his attention to the waiter. "Vorremmo ordinare lombata gorgonzola-alfredo e annerito pollo." Back to Coyote, "Chicken and steak with pasta, will one of those be sufficient?"

((EDITED: Counts his lucky stars he got to edit his craptastic ols post before Chrys responded... ))

Coyote grimaced a little when he heard Brads parents were dead, leaning closer to Brad he placed a hand on Brads arm in a comforting gesture as he offered his condolences. "Sorry Brad, I hope I didn't reopen any old wounds... " Coyote tried to hide his embarrassment at the blunder by giving his attention to the drinks, picking his up he gave it a slight swirl as he looked at its colour before taking a sip, savouring the taste while Brad ordered their food.

"This drink isn't bad, but if you're ordering me drinks in the future I prefer Vodka and Cranberry juice... Or just Vodka will do. Although I would have expected you to order some kind of wine in here?" It was obvious from his tone that Coyote didn't really care about the drinks and was content with what he had. Taking up another bread stick Coyote took a few slow bites out of it as he talked with Brad. "So enough about the past how about the present? When you aren't wooing customers with your debonair charms what do you like to do to relax?"

The man shook his head, lifting his hand to pat the one on his arm in equal comfort. "No old wounds. They've been gone for years." Brad shrugged a bit and smiled faintly. What was gone was gone, and he'd long since made his peace with the loss...if it could even be considered one. The arm over the booth remained where it was, fingers brushing over Coyote's shoulder since he was leaning in close, eventually moving to squeeze his shoulder. "I'll keep that in mind," he replied with amusement. "Now I know." Another soft chuckle escaped him, resting comfortably once the waiter left.

He considered his options, and opted for the truth. "I work," he replied, his smile growing just a tad. "I guess you could say I work two jobs, but because I'm freelance in my profession, I can work wherever and whenever I want so long as I meet the deadline. It's just that work hasn't been coming steady with the decline in the economy, so Searan's became my second job." Truthfully, his work was the most relaxing thing he could do; it was all encompassing to him, a demanding mistress to whoms needs he tended to contentedly. A workaholic to the end.

Brad sighed a little, looking to Coyote from the corner of his eyes. "I just try to make people smile and have a good time, Cai. It's not so bad." Another light squeeze on the man's shoulder, before he asked, "Do you do anything other than work and demand dinner of old Hosts, hmm?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 04, 2008 1:46 pm

As he listened to Brad, Coyote got a thoughtful look on his face, as he did he leaned back against the arm around his shoulder. "So you do this freelance job more for the love of the work rather than for a living? I suppose I can understand that, I've always liked maths and enjoyed working with numbers. Not sure I love maths enough that I'd like to spend my free time solving quadratic equations though... What exactly is this other job, you love so much?" While a workaholic wasn't a bad thing, in fact Coyote had been accused of being one on more than a few occasions, but a man that dedicated to his work might not spare much time for other pursuits like romance or relationships. Coyote wanted to see if he might have another competitor for Brads affections.

Coyotes first response to Brads question was a short glare, after which Coyote edge a little closer in the seat to Brad, rubbing his shoulder against the older mans. Rising slightly from his seat Coyote starred intently at Brads features for a moment before sitting back down and crossing his arms. "I'm sitting about as close to you as I can while remaining publicly decent, but I still can't spot any crows feet, grey hairs or liver spots, so stop it with this old man nonsense. If it's an effort to put off my affections it won't work and if it's some kind of personal issue, get over it." Coyote glanced at Brad out of the corner of his eye then turned to face him directly his tone one of mock indignation. "Besides if I conceded that you're an old man and a relationship grows between us, that would make me your 'toy boy'. And I am no one's toy boy." Letting a smile curl his lips Coyote playfully poked Brads side. "Understand, 'young man' ?"

That matter off his chest, Coyote took another sip from his glass and leaned back, taking advantage of the fact he'd moved closer to Brad to lean his head against his dates chest. "As for what I like to do in my free time, besides asking out handsome, athletic, young men. I like to go swimming, it's one of the things I miss about the beaches in California, a chlorinated swimming pool just isn't the same. I also like art, I've no talent myself, but now and then I like to go to museums and exhibitions and admires the work of others."

A light nod was the return for Coyote's inquiry, his smile faint. "It's a passion," he admitted, "out of circumstance. I'm-" Brad paused and blinked as the young man glared at him, looking even more perplexed as the other scooted over and all but peered at his face. He lifted his free hand to brush through his hair in an old habit as he was reprimanded, a sheepish but earnest grin forming as Coyote lectured him. "Yessir," he gave a lazy salute, the arm on the booth bending so that his fingers gently curled through the other's hair, listening.

His grin dimmed into a soft smile, turning his head a little so that he was nearly speaking against the crown of the young man's head. "Admirable. I haven't gone swimming in years, and I go to museums mostly for my job--oh. We didn't get that far, did we?" Brad lifted his head again, chuckling, "I'm an architect. I've helped design a handful of buildings in this area alone. I work on the construction aspect too, since most companies are understaffed. Cheap bastards." Another light bit of chuckling, and Brad moved on as if his work was of no consequence.

"What's California like? I had a few job offers out there but wasn't too keen on that type of relocation. I haven't left New York, well--that's a lie, I went into Canada once but that was just to see the Falls." He hadn't been back to Italy since he'd left; this state was his home, and would be for the foreseeable future.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 1:52 pm

Feeling Brads fingers in his hair, Coyote turned his head towards the touch. An architect? Really? I never would have expected any of the hosts at Searans to live double lives as architects. We'll have to go for a walk around town some day and you can show off all your masterpieces. I suppose the construction work is how you got such a rugged physique and calloused hands?" Coyote took another sip from his drink and let his eyes drift half closed, despite it being a public place the booth offered a sense of privacy that let Coyote relax against Brad.

"It's hard for me to compare New York with California, I had very different life styles between New York and Los Angeles. Growing up here I went to private schools, lived in one of the 'well to do' neighbourhoods and well my parents were snobs, or at least snob wannabes.... Which meant they lived beyond their means so to speak and that bit them in the butt one day and they were forced to rein in their finances. Rather than face the 'shame' of it all, my mother had us move to the far side of the country to avoid the embarrassment of her meeting any of her old friends. Over in Los Angeles we lived in a relatively nice suburb, if in a smaller house, I went to a public school and was generally a lot happier, even if things were... a bit rougher. I missed some of the perks of our old life but it was living in Los Angeles that made me who I am today." Moving to take another sip from his drink Coyote realised he was holding an empty glass, frowning at it a moment he set it back down on the table before leaning back against Brad and casually resting a hand on the taller mans knee. "What about you? What was it like growing up in Italy?"

Brad chuckled dryly. "You mean you didn't expect any of us to be educated?" At the mention of calloused hands, the one touching Coyote's hair paused, slowly returning to the booth. "Yes, the years of working on the site accounts for my physical state." He grew quiet as the young man recounted a decent portion of his life, nodding a little, somewhat understanding. Making a soft 'hmm'ing noise in his throat, he gave a faint shrug, mindful not to jar the man leaning against him.

"Italy is what inspired me. It's full of history. It's a different world than here...it's old, traditional, retro but very fashionable. It's a delicate line to walk, but lucky for me, I was too young when I lived there to be bothered by it." He paused, eyes shifting off to the side, seeing the cobbled streets and looming structures of the past in his mind. "We were well off. My sister and I never needed for anything. My family comes from Naples, close to the harbor, that's where my father 'worked.' I didn't get along with my old man ever, and my folks decided to send me to study abroad. I never went back."

He blinked slowly, coming back to the present. "All I brought with me was a good upbringing and strong work ethic, for the most part. At least I'd like to think so." A faint smile returned to his lips, moving his free hand to pick up his bellini and take a sip, offering it to Coyote once he was satisfied. The waiter returned shortly after, dropping off their meals with flourish and a bow, promising to return to see if they needed anything.

"Take what you'd like," Brad commented, eyeing the steak nuggets and slices of chicken over the tender pasta. He missed this place more than he had realized.
