Mhin Hae-Min

PostPosted: Thu May 15, 2008 12:26 pm

Hae-min (gently) shoved Remi into a seat, so she wouldn't feel bad about sitting down herself. Her feet hurt, and she got regular exercise in the form of gardening- she didn't want to think about how poor Remi felt. Nevertheless, she smiled as she rolled up her sleeve (just the right, because, well...) and tugged her fan free of her bag. "This is fun," she said cheerfully, but she still seemed to have an issue with keeping her head up off the table. "Thank you so much, Brad!"

Next time, she was so not wearing a hanbok. Or she was at least wearing a lighter one, anyway, if not something American. "It okay! I okay!... Remi?" Her tone was quite perky, but she'd finally given in and set her head on her left arm. Dancing was serious business, apparently; still, she wouldn't have asked if she thought she couldn't do it... And it felt like she was improving. That was the important part.

Or so she told herself. She hid a quiet yawn behind her fan and was really quite content to vegetate until it was time for her to go.

He was downright exhausted, and sweaty, and most definitely achey. His cheeks were flushed red, and he had to discreetly wipe some sweat from his brow. So, when Hae-min pushed him into a seat so she herself would feel comfortable sitting down, he didn't protest, and instead sagged down in his chair, sighing exaggeratedly. Dancing wasn't supposed to be this difficult, and he had lost count of how many times his feet had become tangled in Hae-min's. Undoubtedly he wasn't a great dancer, but he had to admit that he wasn't the worst either. That title belonged to some other poor fool who lacked even more grace than Remi. The young man would have to take solace in the fact that he wasn't the worst, but it was obvious that he'd never be as good as Brad, or even Hae-min. She had gotten the hang of it more then he had. At least he wasn't the jealous type, or he would have been pouting at her already and wondering how he could show her up. But, since he wasn't that kind of person, he was at least happy that she was doing better than him. Now, what truly would be a disaster was if she was worse at dancing.

"Water would be perfectly fine," he replied to Brad with a smile, not willing to admit that he was sore. Hae-min wasn't complaining, so he wasn't going to complain either. He didn't want to seem like the baby of the two of them. "I'm okay," he quickly said to Hae-min after she prompted him slightly. He didn't think he was okay, actually, but there was no harm in lying some. He was just happy that they were finally getting a break. His feet were practically throbbing in pain. It was very, very unpleasant. A hand extended up into his hair, pushing his unruly bangs away from his dark eyes. For some reason, it was very obvious that Remi was not having that great of a time, at least compared to Hae-min. But, he could pretend to have fun for her sake. She obviously seemed to be enjoying herself, and that made him happy enough.

Brad chuckled as he left the two, disappearing behind the bar and into the kitchens. He hadn't been there before, so it took him a short while to find appropriate glasses - nothing fluted, nothing large, nothing ornate, and it was harder than it should have been. He located the ice and water, watching the cubes crackle beneath the stream of clear liquid, musing to himself. At least they're both willing, he thought fondly of his two 'students.' Even if it's not perfect, they're going to do great at the prom. He knew most of the people going would just do 'hip dancing,' and if Remi and Hae-min did even the basic steps for the foxtrot, they'd steal the show.

He returned after giving the two some time to talk, gingerly putting the glasses on either side of them. "There you go. Hydrate. You'll need it." Brad smiled briefly to the two before moving to the table he'd left his own belongings. It wasn't that he didn't want to be around the two, but hey, he remembered the days of trying to impress a lady. Those days were long gone, granted, but he still had the grace to be respectful of their time.

She grabbed the back of Remi's chair and pulled him over. "Your hair all over place again," she muttered, taking advantage of its damp status to pull his hair out of his eyes even further. "I maybe have to clip it back for you for prom." When the stubborn bangs finally stayed hooked behind his ears, she let Remi go and pulled out her cell phone to send a message (She had missed a call while she was practicing; it was Remi's mother, so she ignored it for now). It wouldn't do to fall asleep here, especially since she was a girl and as she understood it most people here were boys. She set her head down on the table and dozed.

Then Brad came back and she smiled gratefully at him."Okay," Hae-min agreed, picking herself up. "Thank you." She watched him go over to his table and blushed a little. Seung, her oldest sister, often did something like that to let Gin-hul spend time with his wife. It struck her as a little silly, but... She took a delicate sip of her water before poking Remi gently in the side of the head. "Your eomeoni call me. I check message and tell you what she say tomorrow." Because she could see the man who drove her outside. She stood and kissed Remi on the top of his head.

"I see you," she said, somehow managing to summon the energy to skip over to Brad and hug him, too, before drifting out the door.

Remi was a man of incredible tolerance, and so when Hae-min pulled his chair closer to her's and began to "fix" his hair, he did not utter a complaint. Instead he smiled sweetly, indulgently, and let her force his hair behind his ears. Miraculously she got his bangs to stay where she wanted them, and even he was surprised about that. Perhaps that meant his hair was due for a cut. He hadn't gotten one for a few months now, and it was really beginning to show with multiple split ends and an almost-shaggy style. "If you want to," he said softly, though secretly he was a little worried about having to have his hair clipped back. It would look a little feminine, and Remi was feminine enough as it was. But, if that was what Hae-min wanted, he found himself in no condition to complain. Really, he just wanted to have fun at the prom, and for her to have fun as well, and he knew his hair bugged her at times. So, if she wanted it clipped back, she would have it clipped back.

"Thanks!" he said cheerfully when Brad gave him an ice water, and instead of sipping it gingerly like Hae-min, he downed it. He couldn't help that he was thirsty, and he didn't see any need in being so proper. Remi wasn't as observant as Hae-min, though, and so was rather oblivious to the fact that Brad was giving them some time to converse between one another. They talked enough as it was, anyways, and so if he had known what Brad was doing, he wouldn't be able to see the purpose in it.

He blinked when Hae-min poked him on the side of his head, turning his wide blue eyes to her to see what it was that she wanted. "Oh," he replied, a little blandly, defensively bland actually. He knew his mother liked to keep in contact with Hae-min, just in the case that Hae-min knew where Remi was. It was a blessing that Hae-min was supporting him through this, because he was pretty sure he didn't want to hear a word from his parents for another few months. He needed time to himself, and that time was precious. "Thanks," he ended, an almost wary/cautious smile drawn onto his face. He was always a little tense when it came to family matters, but it was liekly something he would need to know. It was better then being kept in the dark about his parents' actions. "Bye Hae-min. Have a safe ride."

He watched Hae-min leave, and when she was gone he sighed softly and pushed himself up onto his feet. Remi decidedly stopped thinking about his mother, because that was the only way he could deal with it. The younger man crossed the room and went to Brad's table, giving the other man an easy smile. "Hey, I was wondering if you could look at my suit from prom and see if it's all right. I'm afraid I'm not very good at picking out good outfits. I was never born with the sense of design and 'cool'. It's in my room... if you don't mind?"

The man gave Hae-min a sweet hug before she took off, smiling a little at her departure. To say he was fond of the young woman was an understatement. Continuing to gather his belongings, Brad glanced over to Remi, raising his eyebrows in quiet surprise. Looking over his own outfit, he chuckled, "While I'm flattered, are you sure you want to be asking me about what's cool?"

Slinging the bag over his wrist, he nodded and rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "That's be fine, if you'd like." Brad smiled again, thankful for once that it wasn't his bedroom that was up for discussion.

"Well, your sense of style is better than mine, so I can't possibly lose in this situation, can I?" He nodded his head enthusiastically, "follow me, then." He waited for Brad to finish collecting his things, and then he guided the other man up the stairs and to his room. He had definitely made it a cozy place, the walls splashed in a warm cream, the bedding a dark red, mahogany wood. It was spectacularly clean as well, despite how someone would think a person as young as Remi would have their room. His dirty clothes were hidden safely away, and his bed was made. It was pretty clean, most definitely. A grin blossomed across his face when a black and white ball of fur uncurled from on the center of his bed. Its jaws opened up in a wide yawn, and with a meow the kitten greeted his guests. He stretched, jumped off the bed, and practically hopped to Remi's feet, meowing cutely in order to coax Remi into holding him.

Obviously, Remi gave in. "This is Socks, he's my kitten. You can hold him if you want," he said quickly after considering the possibility that Brad would want to hold it. Before really waiting for a response, he dumped the kitten into Brad's arms and hurried to his closet. He passed by a mahogany cabinet, its top decorated in old and newer photos. One showed him and a young girl who looked surprisingly like Hae-min. In fact, the resemblance was uncanny, and left little doubt to anyone who looked upon the picture that Hae-min was definitely that young girl in it.

"Here it is," he said after fishing into his closet for a navy blue suit, and pulling it out he turned around to let Brad inspect it.

Looking over his cargos and tank top again - wondering if maybe they'd transformed at some point during the dance - he just shook his head and followed Remi's lead. Brad tread into the room carefully, a little surprised that it had been so decorated, wondering why he hadn't thought of doing that to his own abode before. He didn't have long to muse, as there was suddenly a warm ball of purring something in his arms. The man scrambled to make sense of the vibrating thing on his arm, almost croaking, "Cat?" but Remi was already on the move.

Clutching the tiny thing to his chest in an awkward fashion, Brad moved towards the closet, looking between the blonde and the black and white feline who looked awfully pitiful to him. He paused by the cabinet, shaking his head to himself, catching sight of the pictures in the motion. As any person would, he gave them a cursory glance...and then looked again. Crinkling his nose, he scrunched up close to the picture that looked like Hae-min was in it, frowning to himself in disquiet. Now wasn't that odd?

He jerked his head back towards Remi, blinking at the suit as if he'd never seen one before. Giving himself a good mental shake, he looked the article over, nodding. "I'd have to see it on you to see the fit, but it looks good. It'll compliment you nicely." Brad gave another distracted glance to the photo before nearly leaping backwards as the kitten started kneading his forearm. "CAT," he exclaimed again, frowning at it despite the happy purrs as the needle claws pushed merrily against his skin.

"Oh, well, I wouldn't want to keep you waiting here for the time it takes me to get changed. It fits, so I guess that's all good. So long as you think it looks good... I guess that means it passes, right?" He was at least pleased that Brad said it looked nice, though he wasn't thinking far ahead enough to know that he'd only get a proper analysis if he put the suit on. He just didn't want to bother Brad that much, because he knew that Brad didn't have to teach him to dance, or look over his outfit to see if it was suitable. Remi was grateful, and thus didn't want to hold Brad in his room for any longer than was necessary.

He turned to look at Brad, quick enough to notice that Brad's eyes had been drawn to the picture of him and Hae-min. He could only take it as curiosity, and so he naturally went out of his way to satisfy Brad's curiosity. "Oh, that's the picture of me and Hae-min. We're getting married pretty soon." He said it simply enough, almost as if it wasn't a big deal. It wasn't, at least not to him. He knew he was going to marry Hae-min, had known it for years. But, Brad did not know this, and perhaps speaking so uncaringly about it was a bad move on Remi's part. It was just information in his mind, so he didn't see any need to squeal over it. The gleam of being engaged had long since ended for the 'couple'.

"Oh, Socks, stop that!" He made an irritated 'tsk' noise in the back of his throat, and went to rescue Brad's arm. "I'm sorry, he's just a lover. He doesn't mean to hurt you, I promise. Maybe I should get him declawed... but he likes scratching things so and I'd hate to take that away from him."

Brad gave a distracted nod, but quickly became stock still at Remi's next words. Married? He stared at the blonde, indigo eyes narrowing in the slightest. Was that some type of a joke? He'd just met the two in his time at the Club, but Hae-min was a customer and Remi was training to be a Host...what type of married couple did that?

"That's not funny," came the uncharacteristic growl from his thoat. "Don't you dare make fun of her like that." He recalled finding Hae-min lost, walking her around the city...she'd never mentioned a fiance! She hadn't even mentioned Remi for that matter. Just her brother, and a driver, but not a fiance! Brad thought over it, remembering how she inspected his hands; she hadn't had a ring on the proper finger. There'd been a plain band on her hand, but that hardly counted.

It would have been easier if he'd been jealous, but Hae-min was like a little sister to him. Someone to look out for. And this young man saying that he was going to marry her...? "Why would you even--" He was distracted once again from his confused annoyance, glancing down as the cat hooked its claws into his tank top.

"What?" Now he was caught off guard, his body subtly stiffening, wide blue eyes staring up in confusion at Brad. He wasn't trying to be funny, so why did Brad think that he was? He was being perfectly serious when he said that he was going to be married to Hae-min. That had been planned for years, and now Brad was thinking he was making fun... and he wasn't. He was being serious! His lips curled down into an unhappy little frown. "I wasn't being funny," he said softly, uncertainly. He didn't want to make the man angry, but he also didn't want Brad getting the wrong idea. "I wasn't being funny at all," he continued, glancing away from the other man. He had to admit that he was hurt. He really was hurt that Brad would think he'd make fun of Hae-min. "I love Hae-min, I love her as much as I can love her, and we're getting married. I'm not lying to you, I swear I'm not."

With a soft, sad sigh, he finally managed to pry the kitten off of Brad's chest. "Sorry about him, really. He doesn't scratch deep." He pulled the kitten in to his own chest, looking for a little bit of comfort in this uncomfortable situation. Brad certainly wasn't going to act very nice to him anymore, so it was comforting to think that this one thing, his darling kitten, would. He stroked the kitten's black and white pelt almost nervously, turning away from the man briefly to close the doors to his closet. "I really am not lying, and I... can't believe you think I would joke about this." But... it didn't seem as if there was anything he could do to change Brad's mind.
PostPosted: Sun May 18, 2008 9:50 pm

The young man's nervous rebuttals did little to ease Brad's mind. "Why haven't either of you said anything before?" he asked dryly. "I spent the day with her, and she never mentioned you or marriage. In fact, she..." He trailed off, a small lightbulb popping to life in the midst of his denial. Hae-min said she'd just moved here, hadn't she? Maybe she moved here to...? No. No, that was ridiculous. Why come to a place that made her so uncomfortable to marry someone who she treated more like a brother than a lover?

He scoffed at the idea. "It'd have to be arranged if that was the case," he grunted to himself. Brad neglected to add that he didn't think Remi could possibly propose to Hae-min...or that she'd accept. They were about as polar opposite as could be. Not that such things were bad, but...

...he couldn't be serious. He stared at Remi, as if waiting for some type of explanation. Or for him to admit it was a joke. Whichever came first.

He didn't appreciate being questioned, mainly because he thought Brad should have at least given him the benefit of the doubt. So he stood in silence when Brad questioned him, bowing his head and kissing the top of his kitten's head. He got a lick on his chin in return, and that made him smile ever-so sweetly. But, when Brad mentioned arranged marriage, Remi's attention was dragged back up to him. He blinked at him with wide blue eyes. Well, he supposed now was the time for explanations. He really didn't want Brad hating him for the rest of his life. No, he did like Brad, and he really did just want Brad to like him.

"We've been engaged for over ten years. It seemed like I had just met her, and my parents were telling me that she was going to be my wife. They own a couple of big corporations, and Hae-min's family does have some money. So... it worked for my parents and her parents. We don't really say anything... because I doubt we really want to get married to one another. I love her like a sister, and it's weird picturing her as my wife. We know it's going to happen, or at least it's supposed to." He smiled there, seeming pleased with himself. "My mom and dad don't know where I am, so maybe they'll cancel the engagement. But, anyways, it's not... that new or exciting for us, so why should we mention it?"

For proof he reached down the front of his shirt and pulled out his necklace, where dangling from it was his engagement ring. "Hae-min wears her's on her pointer finger. They match. I wasn't lying to you..." He looked vaguely sad in that instant, hurt that Brad would think that he was.
PostPosted: Sun May 18, 2008 10:09 pm

"Ten years?" he repeated incredulously. Brad did not even remotely think there was any merit to his grumbling of an arranged marriage, but, they were...?

The ring did nothing for the Italian, if not soley because engagement, in his mind, was only a ring for the woman. He shook his head and looked away, still annoyed while trying to make sense of the new claim. "Then why is she here?" He was completely baffled by Remi's words, and as such, was currently humoring the idea of marriage. "Wont that make it slightly easier to find you? And..." Brad ran a hair through his shaggy hair, scowling to himself. They were going to prom yet didn't want to get married? Which was arranged? And that Remi had run from?

Cursing in his mother tongue for a few moments, he ran his hand from his hair and over his face, one dark eye regarding the blonde with only a flicker of warmth. "I apologize, Remi. I owe you that much." He probably should have given him a greater apology, but he still wasn't thoroughly registering that the conversation was actually happening.

"I've been away for a while, and they have not found me yet, though she's here right beside me. She was the only person I could turn to when I got... well, into an arguement of sorts with my parents. I left without thinking, and I didn't know what to do, and Hae-min helped me. She's always been helping me, and I don't know what I would have done without her aid. I probably would have run back home to mom and dad." He pushed the necklace back underneath his shirt, and bent down onto his knees for a moment to let the kitten climb out of his arms. He was seeming awfully demure, soft-spoken now. Brad's displeasure had quieted him, because he really didn't want to have it. He wanted Brad to like him. He wanted everyone to like him... but he knew that wasn't possible.

"It's okay, really," he said softly, but he wouldn't meet Brad's eyes. In fact, he seemed awfully focused on watching his kitten play with a ball of yarn. Somehow the apology didn't seem to be enough for Remi, and he felt bad for feeling that way. He really did feel bad... but for some reason he was still hurt. He stood up then, reaching over to his cabinet to nervously fix the arrangement of his pictures.
