At first glance what I noticed was... first off, you have both Debate, not Convert, and Don't convert. I'd recommend changing the Don't convert rule into the no-bullshitting rule that was talked about. The underlined part in that rule is perfect. If you can't help, don't post. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't post. If you just want to talk, don't post. That kind of thing, but better phrased, of course. And the other thing I noticed, it's Distribution, not Distrobution wink

Other than that, it looks good, but I didn't look at it too in-depthly so I'm sure there may be other things that could improve.

Yeah, when I was looking at that, I fwondered about doing that too, but Twistex said it wasn't an official rule.

I'll do it for now.

Plus:
Curse Guilds adding all those apostrophes and slashes in contractions and links... stare

Thanks for the help.

Edit: On second glance, I'll just completely delete the "Debate, not convert" one.

I''m trying to find the bbcode for links within a page, so it can "jump" to certain sections. That would make the thread more readable for the users...

(Edit)

I meant without opening a new window.. Checking this here.

I know how to do it already, but since you can't move guild threads to forums, I just haven't done it.

I could do it for one or two links though, just to show you if you wanted.

Edit: Decided to just explain it, instead.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=1255196&start=
This is the basic link stuff. The numbers of posts go as follows:
0=first post
1=first reply
15=first reply on second page

So, by putting &start=5, it lands you somewhere in the middle of page one.
The nifty thing about this is that it's not an anchor, as it erases all the posts previous to the one you jumped to, meaning you can't scroll back up.

There's another code alowing it to be just an anchor link, but I forgot what it was, and involves single-handedly editing each post to just look up what URL you get when redirected. Which just takes forever and a day and isn't worth it.

There's an easier way to do that; you see the little white page next to "Posted: 03 Sep 2005 5:42am"? Right-click that and choose to copy the link location.

I like the layout, the colours on the main parts are good. I think it would look a bit nicer to have a little heading for 'Sticky based on contributions from' at the bottom where the names are, instead of just having some random-looking names.

I'll read through the whole thing later for additional contributions 3nodding Great work.

It still opens in a new page, which I would like to avoid. I've seen it done on other Gaia pages.. I'll try and find one, then rip the code from that wehn I get my tools back.. Or, I'll ask 72.

Massive apostrophe issues. It's like an apostrophe orgy in there.

Some more white spacing maybe. Perhaps listing things a bit more (using the list tags or whatever).

All in all though, it looks good.

We need a small section in the DtD part about uploading music; I just saw another one in C&T and Joda mentioned that there is a thread about it a day... worthy I'd think.

I'm not sure how one would put an answer to it, because it could also be promoting illegal music distribution... so perhaps we could say that copyrighted for private uses they go find their own web server to host it on, and for open music we could point them to a free host like freewebs.com. Freewebs will let you host your own material, the last time I checked.

I scanned through the sticky, and yeah I basically agree with Skye.

Ah, I get what you're saying Twistex... only way I think you can prevent that is the anchor method.

Twistex> I've never seen it done on the same page on Gaia before. All I can think of is that they used HTML, and that is totally disabled now on Gaia...

Unless there's..
OH. We could use the highlight feature! It'd look kind of messy, but it would work if we keyed it in to the correct words.
Edit: That's been disabled all around, plus doesn't anchor.

Yes, this anchors it. We shouldn't look over people's posts next time. xp Sorry MrMadman! sweatdrop
example.
But still in a new window. I really don't think we can bypass the new window thing, it's part of Gaia's coding, and they don't allow HTML anymore. XP

Skye> The guilds automatically do that for some stupid reason. It adds 1-2 apostrophes per edit, not sure how many slashes. Since it works like that, I'm simply not fixing it until/if I move this to Chatterbox.

MrMadman> I hardly wrote anything in this sticky. The only thing I can really remember writing offhand are the blue simple title-things for the rules. Everything else I just compiled together and organized. So if I recieved no credit for posting the sticky up, that's fine with me. Being as such, it's not my responsibility to update the D2D. That's Manhattan Project/Slutty_Eddie's job(I honestly can't figure out who made it first >.o)

Well, I'm thinking of it as a framework for the final sticky, so we could all put comments for changes and additions in there.

I know it's probable that a DtD team will modify it as necessary, but we might as well post things here while it's easier.

Well, it looks like D2D is going to have it's own sticky, so I will take it out and modify the rest of the sticky in a bit (Yes, I'm procrastinating. Hurr).
PostPosted: Sat Sep 03, 2005 6:39 pm

The history of The C&T DTD Topiclist:
Slutty_Eddie fathered it. Some time passed. Arethic took it, cleaned it up, and dubbed it 2.0. A little bit more time passed. I took over, updated it some more, and dubbed it 2.5a, due to the fact that more people will be involved in the updating than before.

Oh, and the info came from an assload of people. Too many to name.

EDIT: Now that I think about it. I''ll post a copy of the DtD here. So we can keep the updates rolling. That, and if Gaia ever eats the sticky, a backup will be readily available.

Right, well, I just remembered: I put in two image hosting places that weren''t in D2D.
xs.to and imageshack.us.

But since I''m going to delete the D2D from this topic right now, those updates will be lost. Not that it was that much work to add them, anyway. XP

Edit: Deleted D2D, added rule "Use Google", (near top in blue). I couldn't figure out if that would go better in rules or asking a question, so I plopped it in rules. If anyone has anything against that, feel free to bring it up.

Going to fix the floating help names, and try to add a list of C&T Helpers and mods. Then will move the thing to chatterbox and put in the anchor links.

Edit2: C&T mod/helper list scrapped, since I have no idea to go about doing it or making it more useful than "report a thread".

Edit3: fixed the floating contributor names. On to moving this to the chatterbox in anticipation for guild downtime and ease of moving to C&T.

Edit4: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9878625
The anchor links may have to be redone if the hidden posts don't keep their status when/if the thread's moved to C&T. If you actually delete the hidden posts, the anchor links may shift and cause errors. I'm not positive if that's true, but I'm 95% sure it is.
