Ha, I got all of you beat. Before the actual show or game even came out, Nintendo sent me a promo tape about the anime and the games. I watched it so much it broke in less than a month.

My first experience with Pokemon was the Christmas of 98 when I was four and I found a red Game Boy Color in my stocking and I was like "WTF IS THIS? O: ". I also found Pokemon Yellow and Red and played them like crazy, thanks to dad. Apparently, Dad had already beaten Yellow for me so I could see what it was all about and played Red on my own, but stupid little four-year-old me erased his progress on Yellow to start my own adventure with Pikachu! whee I love all of the "retro" games, they're fabulous. Dad sucked me into Pokemon. XD
My grandma noted that I liked Pokemon and bought me pretty much all of the VHS tapes for the early anime and I watched 'em. x3 I like the Sabrina episodes where she's like a kid and an adult at the same time! @ 3 @ FTW!

Ah, Pokemon. I was 7 or 8 when the whole Pokemania started. I had a friend who like Pokemon, and introduced me to it. I was hooked immediately.
....10 years later, I'm 18, and I still love the games.
What can I say? They're fun.

Hmm. I was into it on and off the first years it came out. I had Yellow because my mom got them for me for Christmas, but I didn't play them a lot. I was young and frustrated because Brock kept whupping my Pikachu. It took me forever, but I was a little idiot who raised my Pikachu to level 25 solely by battling wild pokemon, JUST so I could take on Brock with it.
(For some reason I didn't bother trying to use other pokemon... I put them all in my box.)
And I also saw the first airing of Pokemon in the US, and I remember as people have said earlier that they played th SS Anne episodes before the actual first episode. I was so confused, but I said "whatever" and kept watching. But I always got home from Daycare late and I missed it when it changed showing times, and I stopped watching it for a while.
I only REALLY got into it and REALLY understood it when my mother's coworker's nephew came over and we played while the grownups chatted. We didn't talk much at first because we were both shy and he was absorbed in his video game. Then I kept passing behind him until I recognized he was playing Pokemon. And I said, "I've never seen that area in the game! Where's that! --OH MY GOSH, WHAT'S THE POKEMON, IT'S NOT IN MY HANDBOOK!"
It turns out he was playing Gold, a totally new part of the Pokemon series. I told Vincent all about my experiences with pokemon, and he said I was an idiot for using my Pikachu against Brock, and he explained all about how some types are good against others and all the elements and things like that. And he said, "Here, I'll show you Gold."
He made a new file (without saving over his old one, of course) and we played together (it was hard). When we left Elm's lab and saw that red-haired guy standing there, I wanted to talk to him, and Vincent laughed. I didn't get it right then, but then we got pushed by the guy.
As everyone who played it since the first games knows, that was some MAJORLY AWESOME ANIMATION right there. Vincent and I laughed ourselves silly, we thought it was so cool, and we just kept on talking to the guy and getting pushed, over and over.
After he left, I studied up on Pokemon and started playing Yellow again.
For the first time ever, I beat Lt. Surge. I was so happy, and I've never been able to stop since.

My bro got it, and my parents bought me the other version (being red and blue)
And now i've been playing it since kindergarten. I couldn't read, and released a level 100 venasaur on accident.

(it got "chewed up" he sed) well... it was played on those old colorful original rectangular gameboys. i think it was crsytal know that i know wat crystal was. but the game was w/e the second gen game was.i never really knew anything about pokemon though.so i sarted getting more into it. by watching it and playing the games. (my first pokemon game in the mineral sereies((emrald/saphire/ruby/diamond/pearl etc.)) was ruby.lmao sereiously xD. i NEVER herd of the classics of blue or red and only saw my cousin playing leafgreen a couple of times.

i was introduced by my best friend, whose brother had a pokemon game.
and we both enjoyed it so we became pokemon buddies.
that was in 1999...
when i was in kindergarten. gosh i was a noob back then, but i was only five, and my bestie was four, and we were the talk of all the boys because a) we played pokemon b) we played sport and c) i was taller than all of them.
so pokemon was introduced to me at an early age.

How did I get sucked into the addictive world of Pokemon? Why the brilliant TV ad of course! Having beaten every game I came across up to that point, I pleaded for a ride and got it at launch. I decided on Blue and played it on the gameboy brick; I didn't stop playing till about 1:30 A.M. when the batteries finally died.
I even remember the team I used when I beat the game for the first time: Blstoise, Pigeot, Articuno, Haunter, Machoke, and Raichu.
...this may seem a little off-topic, but does anyone remember Robopon?

I think I started sometime in elementary school. I started watching the show, progressed into cards [went no where] then the games.
this was in '97 i think I have been playing the games for about 11 years now. and am not ashamed. I am 18 and entering college.
