I think the cost of alot of it makes it a little difficult to get into. and laziness.

And believe me, laziness is very difficult to combat without someone to give you a kick in the a** to beat.

I love both the music and the fashion. However, when it comes to fashion, I'm not really in a position where I can wear a lot of it. I'm still in high school and I am also unemployed. I do have a few things from Cryoflesh (1 pair of pants [Serpentine], 1 sweater-esque thing [Transporter Top], 2 shirts [Chemical warfare top, Dark Circuitry]. Other than that, I guess I have a more Cyberpunk-esque style [combat boots, gray pants or urban camo pants, black gloves, thermal style top, black knit hat]. Also, another factor that heavily influences what I can wear is that I am enlisted and I'll be shipping out to Paris Island in August and then my career in the USMC will be started.

Now I'd like discuss the matter of downloading vs. purchasing music, and I know I'll piss someone off here. I'm going to be completely honest and say that 90% of my music is downloaded (vs. bought). Yes, I know that I am not supporting the bands and I know what I am doing is wrong. However, in order to have purchased all the music I have it would cost me hundreds of dollars, which I can't afford. Also, a few of the bands I actually actively listen to honestly don't care if you download their music. Unter Null put one of her CDs online for free. Bands I completely love I would download in a heartbeat. After downloading Psyclon Nine, I turned around and bought their Inri CD. I would do this for all the bands I listen to, but I simply cannot afford to do so.

In all actuality, what you said makes sense. Alot of bands put thier music up for free. But that's what the decide, and that's no problem to many. I have several bought cd (from metal to industrial) and I also have burned cd's full of music that my band mate Bakkus gave me of a s**t load of dloaded music he has on his computer. So, in all honestly, I would be a hypocrite to say that's it's wrong because I have such in my possession (though I did not dload it myself.) There are times, when, like you, I have dloaded content, and then go out and buy the cd, because hey, a tangible, actual copy is not bad to have when you can find and buy it.

I agree. In this scene, any publicity is good publicity, as long as you're seen/heard, whatever. Granted, I dont ever expect this scene to be as huge as emo or whatever, and damn me if it ever does. But, not to intentionally make me sound like a hypocrite (I also have a terrible ride situation i.e terrible road rage therefore no lisence, one dead car, and another that must be taken in...) money should not have to be an excuse. Yes, economy sucks, etc, blah blah (no politics, I hate 'em!) but we all must do what we can to support this scene.
I am often more than thrilled to inform my freinds of industrial, synth pop, EBM or any other electronic music in the scene.
