I heard of Nightwish from my brother who found it through some random AMV that he had downloaded. He did some research and downloaded some music videos. THen one day he came up and told me "Hey, I found this band from Finland that you may like." Then he showed me the "Wish I Had an Angel" video and I was hooked ever since. Especially to Marco, he has such a great voice and so does Tarja. Then I bought the Wishmaster CD and a few weeks later I bought Once. They are such a great band heart

Nightwish is big here in Finland(as you all know), and I always knew about it, but i had never heard it. Then my best friend introduced me to it. Well, first I was like: "Okay, cool to mix heavy and opera, but I hate opera."
Then I thought that the music is good but I still don't like Tarja's voice.
Now I totally love Nw. It kinda sneaked in.Woo. cool ninja 4laugh

Lord_of_blood How dare you think Tarja can't sing????? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... evil It was then. This is now. And it wasn't about her singing skills, it was her tone of voice and her pronouncement(Well, a lot better than MINE)... Now I think that Nightwish isn't Nightwish without her voice.

My best friend let me listen to a CD that was burned from some mp3s, "10th Man Down" to be exact. Sounded interesting so I came home and downloaded "Dead Gardens". I've been hooked ever since.

I found Nightwish on Yahoo! Launch. The Wish I Had an Angel video randomly showed up while I was watching. My reaction can be chronicled like this:
HOLY CRAP!
Um...what's with that guy's beard?
These guys kick Evanescence's butt!

Who's that hot guy on the piano...
*video ends* Must go! Must buy albums!
And the rest, as they say, is history

I got to know them shortly after Wishmaster was released. I was at a friend's place and he had the album, and I liked the cover artwork and asked if I could listen into it. He said "Sure", put it in, turned it on, She Is My Sin came up - and I was hooked. mrgreen

I saw the video for Nemo about 3 times in one night when I was in Spain (oddly enough, it was on German MTV. If you can figure that out, let me know). At first I was like ********. The second time I thought it was pretty good. Third time, I was like MUST BUY CDS!!! Of course i forgot to write the band name/song name down, so I forgot by morning. I spent the next 3 weeks going WHO THE ******** WERE THEY!!!??? I got back home, and my gf let me borrow a Lacuna Coil CD. I let motosorelli (I know her IRL) listen to one of the songs, and she said if I liked them, I would like Nightwish. I borrowed one of her CDs, and about had a stroke because I finally found the CDs biggrin . The rest is history.

I still think you got the better end of the bargain trading your soul for those CD's... rofl I just can't believe i missed the one day they were on American MTV... everyone who saw rubbed it in my face too... crying .
