I concur, I'm in as long as I see it.

Now, my suggestion is what I do sometimes. Go back through movies, games, and such to find good things to do. Then upgrade them slightly, move things around, combine others and voila! New RP.

The only problem I would see with sides being a major part of the Roleplay would be a major imbalance. The "Lyoko good guys" already outnumber the only real villain in the series already, so if original characters were to go first, that would be something nasty. Plus, if people decided to flood one side or another due to popularity or whatever, the other side(s) would either perish or have to be given some type of bonus that would really compromise the fairness of everything.

Personally, I know that those three sides (Good, Bad, Neutral) will come up even if a faction system is in place or not, but resting a Plot's entire backbone on such a crucial balance would be pretty risky. The only way around that would be to force people to pick a certain side, but that's never any good seeing as most roleplayers have already predetermined everything about their character.

No matter which way we choose to go with the group Roleplay, it would be best to determine an early map of how our characters fit in to the general story and with other characters. If we have a basis like that ahead of time, then people will know how they are going to fit in. It should be noted that some of this information wouldn't be readily available to your character (like something on a villain who hasn't even appeared yet), so some form of honesty would need to be present.

By the way, We should probably make a list of the original/series characters people want "dibs" on, the number of non-canon/made-up characters and their alliances (Good, Evil, Neutral). Oh, and I personally wouldn't start claiming people just yet. I don't even know if this idea will be shot down or not.

As far as a Plot goes, I was thinking about XANA and like forces making some larger steps in their advance to the real world which eventually leads to the confessions of the Lyoko Gang which could go in any direction and open up a wealth of possibilities. For example, their coming clean could lead them to being annexed by a government group (and allowing new characters from a new setting), asking for any and all help (made-up characters in general), or (my personal favorite) some government body finding out about everything and deciding to take the reigns for their own needs. That would lead the gang to flee and try and move their portal into Lyoko elsewhere while leaving behind their school, families, "normal" friends, and giving them some new threat to go along with an advancing XANA. The government or group could also make their own way into Lyoko and cause the entire realm itself to becoming twisted due to various experiments and the like.

If we begin with a Sandbox Idea (certain parameters with the ability for a lot of variation and customization to go on inside said boundaries), then we all can combine thoughts while keeping to skeleton we all are aware of. That way we can have some organized chaos.

If you give a junk about that, I'll be happy to go into more detail about the Plot itself.

Wonderful points you made, Super. Factions do seem to appear whether intended or not. I also like the sound of throwing the government in the way of the gang. That'd make for some fun story, trying to battle advancing evil forces while the Man is hunting you down AND interfering.

Thanks xp

With the government group it's possible to have another legit group of people who could not only access (or attempt to) LYOKO, but actually try and alter the program, and cause both trouble and strife outside of LYOKO without being a problem.

Well, if you need it, I can be an awesome evil guy. Or a mindless drone, I do not mind.

(Wow, I haven't been in here in a while DX)

Well, I'm pretty good at playing a villain and I have quite a few OCs who walk on the darkside. I even have an OC named Melody and her younger sister who doesn't have a name yet. Her background for joining up with XANA would make sense.

As for the plot, I like Zaber's idea about recruiting armies for each side.

I also have some concept designs for new monsters I'm working on as part of a fanfic. I just need to work out the kinks.

Spiffy. I'm glad to see everyone so interested. ^_^

As for storybase... it seems to be going in the direction of the introduction of a bigger battle between the forces of Earth and Lyoko. Lyoko makes bigger advances on Earth. This results in the original gang getting outside help to fight a battle they simply can't win on their own. With both sides gathering strength, an all out war appears to be developing.

...or at least that's what I'm gathering. Something struck me just now that may be a problem. I've noticed that people will automatically jump to being an OC, leaving that original cast out. Either that happens or the people who offer to be the original cast are the first ones in and the first ones to lose interest. I'm trying to think of a good way to remedy such a problem.

Let me know if my summary up there (written at the fun hour of 6:30AM) was accurate and if there's something big and blaring I forgot to add. As a note, I made the sides "Lyoko" and "Earth" to avoid the problem of saying "good" and "evil". I've seen that the ones on the "evil" side often change their ways and wind up "good".

And I didn't mean to rant, I just feel like we've been preparing for a while and need to get to the fun stuff. *nodnod*

Well, the good thing about OCs is that if the person leaves the roleplay it's easy to come up with a way to drop their character out of the story.

There's also another problem of people becoming part of the original cast just so they can god-mod, and sometimes they go and act out of character. I think we should just make it so that we (being the people here who are genuinely interested in the roleplay) can each play one of the characters on the main cast. Those of us who are more experience could also add on an OC if we want and are VERY committed to it. If an OC suddenly drops out of the story we could say that something happened like... XANA wiped their memory and they went back to living a normal life with no clue of what was going on... or something sweatdrop *just an idea*

As for characters I could do... I could probably play as XANA or help with that... I'm pretty good at creating evil characters. I'd also be willing to play any of the Lyoko gang including boys if needed.

The point you brought up about playing the original cast can also work in reverse with OCs. I think god-modding is a big problem with roleplays. Especially when the person god-modding doesn't realize that they're doing it.

I have a feeling that this happens to certain people more often than others, possibly those with less experience. That being said, I think I'm probably better off playing an original cast member, myself. This being because original characters already have a set personality and if you try hard not to go out of character, you'll be less likely to wander off in a different direction.

I liked what you were saying with the less dedicated OCs. That'd probably make me laugh a little. "Where'd so-and-so go?" "Oh, ...XANA wiped their memory... or something. >_<""

*shrugs* Sounds like an interesting idea.

I could re-introduce a down-powered Xandra into the mix (although her weaknesses are easily exploited). And I love playing a villain now and then... *evil grin*

I'd be very interested... I have like two good oc's and 1 VERY bad one...

I'd probably stick with the RP even if very few people joined... I'm just a person that starts a project and wants to see it finished.

[oh what exactly is god-modding? I've only heard the term a couple times and no body would bother explaining it to me...]

I'm good with making characters and their pasts... I have a whole bunch of ideas for pasts of evil people... I just need the form and their weapons and it'd be an oc...

Plus I am good at making characters stay in character and I've been known to be the person in RP discussions to have the last say (the reason I said that is to say that i'm dedicated if you're wondering why the heck I mentioned it).

Never once has my oc ever broke their character [except for ONE time but they were xanafied so I think that is a legitimate reason to be out of character.... sweatdrop ]
