Paper Clip : In Between "Commercial" Breaks
1st Break Thoughts THE WHITE BUFFALO SUMMONS CHANGE! Nice bit of Navaho mythology at the beginning here, I do like how they're throwing in spiritual matters as well as conspiratal (and terrestrial) matters.
And one of the suits is getting cornered and I get to learn a little more about this secret society and how certain members operate. Also, I like the reference to the Paperclip, which was also played on in an issue of Warren Ellis's Planetary dealing with The Four.
2nd Break Thoughts Lots of medical files, eh ... recent samples on Scully (thing-a-jigger in her neck?) and an originally Mulder file all pointing towards ... ZOMGZ LITTLE ALIEN DUDES AND RANDOM SPACESHIP!!! Freaky.
3rd Break Thoughts LOL IMMA GONNA CARRY THIS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FILE AROUND AT ALL TIMES. I suppose the old adage of hiding things in plain sight is a tactic, but come on Mr. Assistant FBI Director, I was starting to get a little more respect for you.
4th Break Thoughts Ok, Scully, whose the young dude in the car that almost went boom?
Also, YAY SKINNER FOR BACKUP PLAN!
Also, nice closing scene.

Dude in the car that Cigarette Smoking Man (CSM) wanted to kill was Alex Krycek. He's a dirty man whore!
In the 1st season the X-Files gets shut down and Mulder and Scully are reassigned. Mid season 2 Mulder gets a new partner; Alex Krycek. Krycek works(ed) for CSM and helped in the "abducting" Scully plan so as to distract/destroy Mulder's quest for ze truthiness. After Scully dissapears, Krycek disappears and no one within the FBI or out seems to really care - pissing Mulder off to no end. Krychek reappears at the end of season 2 where he kills Mulder's father. He was a witness to Melissa Scully's murder - he was the leader of the opperation and when it failed it was his fault. "His" fault 'cause CSM to look bad and so he decided to blow him up. CSM doesn't ******** around; he'll make and carry out long elaborate plans but if he gets pissed off he'll do really drastic things. He is crazy wif da powarz.
Expect more of Krycek and his Rat Boy awesomeness.
And poor Skinner. His life does suck. Don't worry though, Skinman proves his worth multiple times- I enjoyed his backup plan as well. And hoora for Albert Hosteen! heart

And hazzah for Rat Boy info! Now I am on ze same page of yumminess. D.P.O.Nice episode! Oh what fun it is to follow around a love blind psycho kid who can summon lightning at will. From here I learned about Scully's educational background and a bit of Mulder's expertise. Then we get a nice surprise of RANDOM JACK BLACK LOLZZ!!!1one And in the end he was only trying to help DPO out. sad An overall nice episode I think, giving me my first taste of an episode that deals with the paranormal instead of conspiracy and extra-terrestrial.

D.P.O:
Unless your a huuuuuuuge fan of Jack Black or Giovanni Ribisi this episode I find to be pretty forgettable. Not one of meh favorites but it isn't bad. Entertaining, a pretty basic X-Files episode.
Other then the sweet MS Paint lighting affects. Those = Awesome. I will cherish them forever. 8B

To be sure, they're worlds apart, but something about the atmosphere in The X-Files got me to thinking. No disappointments yet, really. I'm three episodes in so there hasn't really been much for me to compare and contrast. The only thing I dislike (and its a small dislike) is some of the acting. I just keep reminding myself that this is a TV show and not a high budge movie production.

I just keep reminding myself that this is a TV show and not a high budge movie production. Chris Carter luvs The Twilight Zone, as do the core writers. There are quite a few Twilight Zone references within the show, with a few characters named after regular Twilight Zone writers. Senator Richard Matheson is a reoccurring character within X-Files and he is, obviously, named after Richard Matheson who wrote sweet Twilightepisodes. And of course his awesome short stories. I love Matheson. ninja
And yeah, the acting can range, especially with the secondary cast. LAWLZ. It's the hazard of live action. I forget about it, 'cause I watch so much animation. 8B
I've enjoyed it so far. Of course I was going to anyway, but the start of season 3 isn't my favorite, so I'm waitin' to get more into the season as well. Kekeke...

Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
I really enjoyed this episode and hope many future episodes are along the same lines of it in terms of execution and substance. I really liked the character of Mr. Bruckman and how, while being a psychic, he lived an average life as an Insurance guy. His reasoning behind why he never used his abilities to prevent are something that I've always felt a trueism. It's one giant pandora's box, but more importantly, if the ability to change the past is made available to humanity, there are simply too many variables, on levels the human mind cannot fathom, to consider and their will always be the scope of who exactly will be doing the tweaking?
Some favorite lines I can remember: "How do you know these things?" "I just know." "But how do you know?" "I don't know!"
"Why do I do the things I do?" "Because you're a homicidal maniac." " ... Huh ... that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?"

Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose:
I got so excited for this episode I watched in ahead of schedule because I love it so much but I'm posting about it now. LAWL. It's written by Darin Morgan so it's awesomeness is predetermined (although it is probably the least awesome of Morgan's scripts, which is sayin' something). I've always particularly enjoyed:
Mulder: Be honest, Scully. Doesn't that propane tank bears more than just a slight resemblance to a fat little white Nazi stormtrooper? Scully: Mulder, the human mind naturally sees meaningful patterns and configurations in things that don't inherently have any. Given the suggestion of a particular image, you can't help but see that shape somewhere. If that tank weren't there, you'd see it in a rock, or in a tree — Mulder: Did you answer my question? Scully: Yes. It looks like a fat little white Nazi stormtrooper, but that only proves my point.
and
Scully: All right. So how do I die? Clyde Bruckman: You don't.
The second quote only makes sense in the 6th season. xd
Anywho, I love Clyde Bruckman. He is made of strange wonderness. This is because he is played by Peter Boyle. I just love how seemingly simple this episode is yet it's filled with some pretty "deep" stuff. I also love how the "deep" stuff isn't done in a "deep stuff" way.
Plus!: it introduces Queequeg, Scully's loveable doggie friend. xd heart

The List:
Pretty solid episode in my opinion, I rather liked it. More so now that I'm older, I like the pace of the story and the directing - when I was 12 this episode bored me but this time around I was pretty engrossed. whee

Red Scully The List:
Pretty solid episode in my opinion, I rather liked it. More so now that I'm older, I like the pace of the story and the directing - when I was 12 this episode bored me but this time around I was pretty engrossed. whee A most excellent episode to be sure! It's my first glimpse of X-Files as spooky and it does it in that old school, Psycho way. Scaring you with the anticipation of what comes next and not with some creepy thing coming out and saying, "BOO! LOLZZ!!!" (hated that so damn much in I am Legend) Vengenance from beyond the grave, revenge seeking ghosts are stories I like, but I rarely see them done well on the big/little screen. And the warden, that actor is always playing that kind of character! He's always such a snob and a sleaze bag. (like his role in The Negotiator) I agree with you, solid episode. Also ... GOOD NEWS! My local DVD rental shop has all the Seasons of X-Files. :3

In season 2 there is an episode called "Excelsis Dei" thats about a woman who claims a case of rape and battery against an invisible attacher. It has ghosts and herb induced out of body experiences and old people. I like that one a lot, it kinda reminds me of "The List" but I think the former is the better episode. I like a lot of the episodes CC writes and directs.
AND OMG GREATEST NEWS EVER. xd

Not the greatest episode I've seen so far, but still an interesting premise. It's like the blob meets some form of the decaying man or HE WHO SUFFERS ETERNAL SUN BURN PEELING!! (lol but in a serious sense, he could also be skin cancer man, nasty stuff that is) There wasn't really a lot to this episode as there has been in others. It felt more like an episode of Law and Order but with just a twist of the paranormal.
W00t B00t
On a related note, I had a good talk with my best friend back home and the subject of X-Files came up. His favorite episodes? Humbug and Clyde Bruckman7s Final Repose with the latter taking the grand prize hands down. He didn't tell me about Humbug, but knowing my friend's taste in things, I'll be looking forward to that episode. 3nodding

2Shy:
Meh. Over all meh. Re-watching the series has been really really interesting for me! I used to really like this episode, last time I saw it I was 13 I think. Now it was kinda, as you said, Law and Ordery with peeling skin. I kinda like the idea of a fat sucking vampire guy who preys on insecure women - that's quite a serial killer - but I feel the execution fell short. Not not entertaining, but following "The List" it wasn't the most amazing episode ever.
"Humbug" is in season 2, so you just missed it. Look forward to "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' " for it is amazing in that Darin Morgan way.

Just finished watching the Pilot episode as well as Deepthroat. Very nice! The Pilot episode was a pretty good starting episode, all things considered. We get thrown right in but there's plenty of time to reflect on things and try to figure out what's going on.
Deepthroat was great, I really liked the story behind it as well as the first initial insights into the secret society that invents the future. Cancer Man in the HUEG file room was neat. Also, the first season looks like it will do an interesting job showing the helplessness behind the actions of Mulder and Scully. I'm hoping this turns into showing us how they adapt to their knowledge and start taking precautions and so forth to keep their information.
