I don't remember what year I read that in HS, I just remember that it was an interesting read that I never could really follow. I think it was my Jr Year. Regardless it was stupid. Has any one read The great Gatsby?

What am I reading right now? Well I'm going to start the His Dark Materials series again. I've always loved them, and each time I pick up something new. That's the beauty of reading a book more than once!

What I really want to read are the Thelmic Holly Books by Crowley. I'm considering joining the OTO and they recommended I read some of those before taking classes or joining. So yeah.. they cost $50 on average...

Good selections, Bookwyrm, I am a fan of both authors. I honestly can't remember the last time I read something because it was required by school. When I was in school and they told me to read something I wasn't interested in, I just didn't read it. That's both high school and college.

Anyway, I just finished reading The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman. It's absolutely heartbreaking, which is not a good place for me to be right now, so I'm looking for a quick rebound.

Ah yes, I remember when my local public library first started carrying trade paperbacks. And I do prefer comic books to graphic novels in general. It was about twelve years ago, and they started with two of the greatest comic book sagas I have ever encountered: Dark Forces, a Star Wars comic book, and The Dark Phoenix Saga, an X-Men story arc.

Has anyone ever read The Crock of Gold by James Stephens?

Never read it. Fiction isn't often on my list.

I am reading something by Mercedes Lackey right now though that is so blatantly inspired by modern occult philosophy it's great. The book started off a bit slow, but now it's starting to pick up.

I've got something stupid like 5 books on the go right now, can't remember all the titles, one is on the ogham, another on the fey folk of the british isles, one is Earth Power by Scott Cunningham another is on modern day vampirism and the last is one of the Drizzt Do'Urden novels by R.A. Salvatore - I think i'm on The Thousand Orcs at the moment.

Ooooh... Real Magic is nice. Well, some of the material is nice.

By far the best dissertation on the Laws of Magic available. Though even he misses a few.

I've just started reading The Black Donnelleys, which is a nice pleasant tale about an old Canadian crime family and their feud with everyone in a fifty mile radius. I'm only on the twelfth page or so, and someone's already been hanged (twice) and a few brawls have been started. In all, it seems to be a promising read for a historical piece.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone have an opinion on The Book of Abramelin? The more recent version, compiled and edited by Georg Dehn, translated by Steven Guth, foreword by Lon Milo DuQuette. I've heard it's more scholarly than other copies, but I'd like to know if anybody has gotten into it here.

Real Magic
Craft of the Wild Witch

It seems to me that Real magic addresses magical practices from a scientific and psychological view. It's one I am really interested in. Craft of the Wild Witch has some "wiccan" overtones, but in general thus far has been really interesting. I actually really like her view on witchcraft. She treats it like a practice and not like a religion.

I'm reading Natural Wytchery by Ellan Dugan, and well.. I can't say I like it all that much. Mostly it reeks of "Goddess" based witchcraft and that's not what I was looking for. Oh well. My mom is going to be getting me a book on Cunning Craft as it fits my search into Traditional Witchcraft.
