The man's expression changed with a suddenness that would unnerve anyone in that situation. His eyes closed and he laid back down with a triumphant looking smirk curled on his lips. "I do not know your parents, no, but I know everything about them as do I you," Caecus replied in a tone of mild amusement. He opened his eyes again to once again study the boy's initial reaction. He would have to play this game very carefully if he was going to make it work out the way he intended it to.

After a moment, he continued again so that the boy had no time to respond. "I know that your parents are out of the country and often leave you here alone for weeks or even months at a time to fend for yourself. You are twenty now and have gotten used to it, but in your younger years it was often very difficult for you to cope, so you would wish for someone... anyone to come and give you company," he spoke in a sharp, arrogant manner emitting an air of long time knowledge. In fact, he knew too much. "And so your company has come."

He felt his heart speed up once more when the man said he didn't know his parents but that he knew about them and knew about Rafael. Fear, once again, was overwhelming him. The glass slipped out of his hand and bounced onto the bed, but he didn't notice. This man he'd found and taken into his house. The fear grew as the man...Caecus...spoke about the one thing Rafael assumed that no other person in the world knew about. No one knew his parents left him alone for so long as a child, or else child welfare services would have taken him away. No one knew how he once longed for company but only had an empty house and a new caretaker ever few weeks.

"...H-how did you know that? I never..." He trailed off and looked down. He so dearly wanted to run as far away from the man as possible, but he couldn't. partly because the man was injured and it wouldn't be right, but mainly our of curiosity. Curiosity trumped his fear so easily. Curiosity as to why this man knew so much about him, about the wish he made to himself and to an achingly empty house. "How do you know so much about me?"

Caecus' eyes narrowed in intrigue, his mouth curling in amusement as Rafael's expressions changed so predictably. The boy was, after all, only mortal and so to assume that he would not become afraid would have been foolish, though Caecus couldn't help but to find the boy's fear rather adorable.
And because of this and his tendencies for whimsy, he couldn't help but play off of these mortal emotions and unfortunately for Rafael, curiosity was the one Caecus was the best at manipulating.

The ink-haired man leaned forward ever so slightly and tilted his head to the side and slowly lifted his hand to caress the boy's cheek in a severely inappropriate manner. "I can know everything about all people if I will it, Raphael. You see I am not like you, I am far more powerful than you or any human could ever wish to be. I am the enemy of all things good and ruler over all that is dark. I have been called many things over the centuries... demon, imp, devil," he leaned in closer to the boy, his hand having strung itself into the boy's golden hair, "but my favorite is The Dark Prince."

Caecus' sensual voice seemed to echo again around them, his eyes now glowed eerily as his lips parted into a Cheshire grin that did well to show the previously hidden fanged incisors that extended down from his upper jaw.

Amber eyes widened in surprise at the touch to his face. He jerked away a little from the caress. But not far enough back to end the contact. He was sure if he didn't jerk away enough because he was afraid of what would happen or if he didn't jerk away enough because he liked the touch. A light blush coloured his cheeks and his breathing quickened as he stared into the turquoise eyes. This was getting to be more than a little eerie. The things that the man was saying as he leaned close to Rafael. They made the fear inside him grow. The Dark Prince?

"...O-oh..." Rafael exhaled slowly, his pupils dilating and his breathing came faster and a little ragged. His hands gripped onto the bed, trying to stop the small tremors of fear in his arms because of the adrenaline the fear was pushing into his system. His eyes began to water as he stared at Caecus and tears slid out of them slowly. The fear was overtaking Rafael initial curiosity. Fear because of the glowing eyes, the fangs, and what the dark-haired man said while leaning so close to him. "Oh..."

T-t-t-the Dark Prince? The...the...the... God, this wasn't possible. Why was it that he was the one who found him and took him in? He continued to stare at the man, not sure what to do next. Rafael swallowed and bit his lower lip. This...this...oh. "...W-why...?"

Caecus' grin softened into a look of intrigue as he watched the boy's expression melt from curiosity into the worst of fears. He readjusted his hand so that it was cupping the boy's cheek and in doing so wiped away the tears that streamed down it, then slowly curled his other arm around the boy's waist and pulled him close and then against him as he rested his lips just outside of his right ear. "Be still, you have nothing to worry about. I will not hurt you. I wish to repay you for what you have done. I will give you any one thing you desire and you have my word," he whispered tenderly into the human's ear.

There was a short intake of breathe when Caecus' hand pressed the touch more firmly against his cheek, wiping away the tears that fell out of Rafael's eyes. The firmness of the touch made the tears stop and he stared at the man. He felt everything drain from him as the man pulled him close and told him that he had nothing to worry about. Right. What was there to worry about? He'd just saved the person...no, being...no... He'd saved the man that the world referred to as the Dark Prince from dying out in the rain. And Rafael was just sitting on a bed and letting himself be held by him.

But what he was offering was so tempting. Any human would accept the offer of getting one thing they desired. Fame, fortune...there were so many things that Rafael could ask for. He reached out and hugged Caecus weakly, leaning against him. Another few tears leaked out of one of his eyes as he did. "Why are you offering me this...? You...you..."

Oh this feeling was so sweet, to have such a fragile creature clinging to him as if suddenly all of his other hopes and strengths had been drained completely. The demon lay his hand gently on the back of the boy's head and slowly caressed his hair. His lips pursed slightly as he hushed the boy after he'd spoken.

"It is unwise to question creatures of the darkness," Caecus advised quietly. "But it is wrong for you to doubt my intentions. I am indebted to you and simply look to repay you with one gift of your choice," he paused, "However, I must warn you to choose wisely and speak in detail so that I do not accidentally leave your gift open to other circumstances."

The demon's lips were curled into a haunting sort of smirk. The sort of smirk that just beneath the surface, lied the beginnings of a dangerous plot and ulterior motive.

Amber eyes widened at the words he heard from the other. His lips parted slightly and his heart hammered in his chest. He didn't... He only want to understand why he was being offered such a thing. "I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..." Rafael lowered his eyes and sighed softly as he clung onto the other. "...I'm not used to anyone offering me anything like this..."

Being alone in this house and equally alone outside of it had restricted much of Rafael's social interactions. People would ask and expect things of him. Never had anyone offered him anything or, when they had, he didn't know what to do and the chance would be taken away.

"I...I'm not sure of what to ask of you. All I've ever wanted is to not be alone." He closed his eyes and enjoyed the feeling of the other's presence as he wondered on what he could ask for. Even if it was a creature of the darkness he was leaning against, not being alone was a rare feeling. Not being alone... "I think... I think I'd like an older brother. One that would love me and never let me feel alone." He didn't think to make his wish anymore specific. He was just thinking out loud, after all. There was no way what he wanted would be given to him...

The boy's apology was amusing and even more so than that, was the fact that this boy seemed all too willing to reveal anything the demon wished or did not wish to know about him. Another dangerous move, but Caecus wouldn't warn the human again. He could already feel the boy's uneasiness and in that knew that he'd at least understood the gravity of what was being offered him. Though after the request was given, Caecus could not suppress the sigh of impatience that came from him.

"I cannot do the impossible boy," he stated shortly. "I have not the power to create such a life. You must rethink your request, but this is the last chance I will give you. Choose wisely, for what is done is done," he finished, his turquoise eyes piercing.

"O-oh..." He swallowed and closed his eyes tight. He had made another mistake, hadn't he? He didn't mean to. It was just...interacting with people was not something he did well, if at all. And what Caecus had said before, about what and who he really was, still bothered Rafael quite a bit. What had he been thinking, taking in a stranger than was a demon and who was offering to grant one request. Believing him was troublesome, along with figuring out what he could ask of him. He didn't know what Caecus was capable of either. All he knew was that he really couldn't think of anything he desperately wanted, apart from not being alone. And that...well...maybe he could get a pet to keep him company. Or something...

Rafael let go of the man, pulling away as much he could. "I'm sorry. I... The only thing I want is for someone to be here with me, but...I'd rather you concentrate on getting better..." Amber eyes looked up at the turquoise ones before dropping down. "That is in your power at least, isn't it?"

As stated before, Caecus' patience was growing thinner by the moment and he found that the pressure of a terrible headache was well on its way to the forefront of the pains he felt at the moment. He stared at the boy with an expression of slight menace as he waited the long moments, before the boy finally spoke again. The demon let out a silent sigh of relief just for the mere fact that he no longer needed to waste his time waiting for the other to make up his mind. In fact, this time he found that the request was just perfect for what he'd had planned all along. 'Perfect,' Caecus thought as he narrowed his eyes in mirth, a new smirk gracing his lips.

"Indeed, that I can do," he replied simply as he allowed himself to lay back, resting his head upon the boy's pillow. "And your wish shall be granted, don't you fret," he finished before closing his eyes and willing himself into a rather sudden and deep sleep.

Rafael wilted a little under Caecus's gaze. It felt much like the looked he used to get from his father when he accidentally interrupted his work. He often felt...insignificant under those eyes, as he did now. His muscles tensed as he waited for what he expected to be the man snapping at him in some way because Rafael couldn't answer fast enough, or couldn't give him the 'right' request, or for some other reason. Instead all he got was a smirk and the look in the man's eyes made Rafael even more nervous. He nodded slowly at Caecus's words, then blinked in surprised when he saw the strange man lie back and seem to fall asleep.

A sigh escaped his lips as he slouched, closing his eyes himself for a moment, before standing and walking out of the room. He wandered throughout the house, turning off the lights and half-heartedly cleaning up until he arrived at his own bedroom, down the hall from the guest room he left the strange man in. Speaking of which, Rafael was feeling a little sleepy. And tomorrow wasn't going to be an easy day, if he had to deal with that man more than he ought to. The boy rubbed one eye and walked to fall onto his bed, only bothering to pull an old stuffed bear to his chest before he settled himself in for the night.

He did not dream, and hadn't really dreamed for a long time now. He was too troubled to let his mind just wander, especially when asleep. The Deviate could penetrate his mind if they so chose and Caecus was not about to allow them the pleasure of seeing what he had stored there.

He felt rested now, though, and awoke with no pain; his wounds had finally healed. He hated to admit it, but he was thankful and indebted to the boy who took him in. Running his fingers though his black stringy hair, he turned his head to look out into the hallway. Where was the boy anyway?

Getting out of the bed, Caecus left the room and wandered into the hallway. There were two other doors that lined the hallway, two of which were the bathroom and a linen closet, and one at the end of the hallway. Stepping outside the door, the demon peered inside curiously.

There was the boy.

Caecus' turquoise eyes narrowed a little as a crooked grin curled his lips. The demon did not enter, but instead backed away and disappeared.
