Rook is almost completely shell-shocked. He tries to shake it off but everything is blurry. He switches on his long-range comlink.
"~Command. Mission has been aborted. Squad broken. Too powerful...~"
He crawls away from the wall and away from the creature but he isnt moving very quickly. He turns and tries to take a few shots with his MAWS in vain.

It's foot was now over Rook as it brought it down, but nearly missed. Instead, the impact threw him sideways, away from harm as it went back into the base. "If you value your lives... you will leave." it said in a fimine voice, deciding to take the labs for itself.

Rook brings up a map of the facility on his HUD and finds a small maintenance elevator in the lab area. He staggers up to his feet, and brings up a channel to his squad: "EVAC point Charlie. Pinged on your minimap. Get out of here!"
Rook turns on the loudspeaker on his helmet. "What do you want?!" he asks of the creature, still following it cautiously but out of its physical strike range.

"It's obvious. Even you should know the answer to that." It said, continuing to walk further into the labs.

Rook pants and then sighs.
"~Squad extracted. Are you still there commander?~" came over Rook's comlink.
"~I'm still alive, but I wouldnt count on it much longer...~" Rook replies, and then turns his comlink.
"Youre not going to be able to operate any of the equipment in this base at your size," he says to the creature, though he is trailing farther behind now.

A snicker came from the creature, which was followed by a burst of laughter. "...W...What makes you think I need this... ancient pieces of scrap?" It said, rubbing a tear from it's eye from laughing so hard.

"Then what do you want!?" Rook exclaims. "Maybe, I am just dense. If you dont want to use the lab for its technology then what could you possibly want?"

"I'm going to use it for a hive. What else?" It said, crossing it's arms as six hollogram walls as the began to change color at an accelerating rapid pace. "Now, I believe you've overstayed your welcome..."

"You're building a hive..." Rook murmurs and takes a step back. "More and more of us will come. Until one of us is destroyed. You or humanity."

"Hmhmhm... In case you havn't notice, your technology is far out-dated." it said as the walls got brighter. they suddenly dimmed down as it sensed something on the surface.
'Agh! Not them again...'
"I'll spare you for now, but don't think I'll be so generous next time!" With that, it took off further inside the lab.

Rook slides down the wall and sits against it, activating his homing beacon. He turns his comlink back on.
"What the hell was that?" Rook grumbled over the radio. "I better get a goddamned medal for all of this."

"Ugh, why can't I get a break from them!?" it shouted with fury, tearing the wall in the process. If it actually fired, it was surely to be spotted. After all, they're technology rivals it's own, and they've been in continuous battles many times. It was actully injured during their last encounter with them.
Unfortunetely, It seemed that a group of them had already beaten it to this planet...

Some time passed as Rook scanned the data files of the base that he was in, looking for some kind of experimental weapon or tool that could possibly be of any use against the monster.
He has a few leads but nothing solid. He gets up and starts to rummage through the labs, unknowingly getting closer to the creature.

As he wandered closer, he came across a hall that was completely walled off by a barrier.

"I wonder what's behind that?" Rook mutters sarcastically. He tries to glance through the barrier and see what the creature is doing.
