t3h_haNakosamA my captain has 3 bruises in a row on her shin Good Lord.
You should really see the condition of my shins right now. See, my shins take forever to heal, so every rifle/sabre/pole bruise from up to three weeks ago is visible. Adding to this is the fact that I am pale as a paper. Though Dan is, I swear, translucent.
I killed my elbow with a sabre (trust me, they CAN break the skin).

I have a rather amusing story to tell about an injury. It didn't happen to me, but our visual instructor back when she marched in my high school marching band. She was doing a parallel on rifle and wasn't fully paying attention when it smacked herself in the forhead. She cracked her skull opened, so they had to call the paramedics. Some genious *note the sarcasm* decided to call it in as a rifle wound to the head. Once the ambulance arrived, a bunch of cops also showed up thinking there was a person with an actual rifle. Gotta love those stories 3nodding

I actually have scars from my sabre. Two cuts on my index-finger joint, gotten on two different occassions, practising hilt 6s.
Oh, I was trying to get the stopper off my flag once and it was stuck, so I stuck the edge of the stopper in the space between teh (open) door and the wall, pushed ont he door and had someone pull on the flag (it works for Brian, our instructor) Anyway, the flagpole popped out and my finger slid into the space and was crushed by the door, cause I was leaning on it. It was bleeding form around my fingernail and I thought it would fall off. (it never did) It bled so bad I almost passed out. It really sucked.

Oh, question: How would you know if you had carpal tunnel syndrome? I've been having killer pain in my left wrist, and I'm worried its CT, as its only getting worse, even when I faovr it and protect it and don't use it for a week.

OSH Answers The typical symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are tingling of the thumb, and of the index, middle, and ring fingers, and night pain. The pain awakens the patient, but is often relieved by shaking, hanging, or massaging the hand. Pain may involve not only the hand, but also the arm and the shoulder. Numbness and loss of manual dexterity occur in more advanced cases. Weakness of the hand also occurs, causing difficulty with pinch and grasp. The victim may drop objects or be unable to use keys or count change with the affected hand. The skin may dry because of reduced sweating.

Mine sadly wasnt a gaurd injury, it was a marching one. My dad didnt want me to wear my new shoes to band camp, so I had the old beaten up ones. Well what I didnt notice was the old ones were missing padding in the back. Well I continuted to march, until my foot felt like it was bleeding, so I sat down and looking at it. It had a clean slice on the back of my foot 3/4 off. So I waited for a bandaid, and till it stoped hurting. Then went back to marching with one shoe, which made it extremly hard to back march. The next day my foot was even worse and I could hardly walk on it so I missed the next two morning of marching. In the after noon when the gaurd had a sectional I would literaly hop around to where I was told to stand.

Well.. I have many a sabre bruises. Most from it coming down on my arm when I try to do a quad. Yeah I'm lame. xd But it scrapes skin off. Ouchie.
Hm.. in winterguard last year we didnt have our uniforms and we wore black pants and shirts. My pants were too long and I tripped at the end of the show. Hahaha.
Erm.. lemme think. Well.. it was my first year and I was spinning against a wall, and it hit a picture frame and banged up my head really bad. Lol. Im just a loser.

All I've really gotten is a bruise on the knee... circular, with an untouched spot in the middle. Brick flags, enough said. We made these poleless flags, for lack of better description, and glued/sewed four metal washers to one corner to make them fly better. Those things are nasty to get hit with at high speeds. Oh, and one of the guard almost took out a (sorry, the) sax player with one.

We stuck a helicopter toss in our show for the 3rd song (Shining Star), and since our new flags haven't come in yet, we ended up twirling with some from last year.. Which would've been all good and well if it hadn't been for the fact that we had no practice with these flags, and they're extremely heavy and difficult to handle cuz of their shape.. I ended up hitting myself right on the crown of my head with this thing.. During the show.. I ended up staggering the rest of the song.. I'm just glad there were only like 2 sets left and we haven't got the rest of the show put on yet..
