On Topic: Has ever occured to you that some 'bad' words can be complements? Example
Jesus is the s**t.

Just because this is a discussion doesnt give you free range.
I cleaned up those that I wont allow in the guild. he rest you can say
without being offensive or vulgar
I dont care if you use them. There are select words that just offend me.

Wonderful. They offend YOU. But what does that matter to people who aren't offended by it? Thats like saying that because one person in congress believes that abortion is wrong, it should be outlawed. Yeah, I'm back, cause I got too bored on gaia without the underground. Ironic, huh? Yes it offends ME, but since the rule is in place, and I am the only active
and/or mod who cares. I just want to keep this as clean as possible.
The site is PG-13 and is our laungage?
In movies if you say F--- more then twice then its then labeled R.
on TV its not even allowed.
So is that suppose to tell you somehthing?
I mean come on. Like I said,
You can say almost anything except those few words.
As a mod, is it bad that I am trying to keep the rules?

Look, to those who can't face that Saint is doing his job, what does the guild look like to other Christians that want to join if they read cuss words? It'll look like it's disrespecting the Bible. And yes, the Bible, in Isaiah, states not to use words that foul God and the Bible. Cuss words were made and are intended to make fun of others. Sure, today they are used differently, but they are still considered bad naturally, even if the eyes today don't see it that way.
Now, take the rule and stay silent, please, or don't. Fighting won't change it.

Find me some evidence, ANY evidence that you're right, and I might reopen the matter. It's already been discussed. Oh, and go read the topic "Cussing/Profanity." Like, all of it. Saint: Okay, listen. I don't really have much of any problem with the cussing rules. Whatever. That doesn't matter to me. What matters is the amount of topics that were locked for being spammed. What matters is that every active topic was locked. What matters is is that I have to go to another thread in order to ask someone, "So, how was your day?" That bothers me.

It's the offense people take from the words that make them bad. The words themselves don't do anything. People take them offensively and that gives them their power.

Which is why Saint blocks those words. It offends people when those words are used, so it is blocked.

In case you all have forgotten. Gaia does have censors. Just go to My Gaia; My profile; Settings; and turn the censor on. You don't have to read words, others can type them, everybody wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which isnt the point here.
The point is that the guild rules clearly state that no profanity is allowed.
Which I have let slide generously until now.
Yes there is a filter, but it does not catch everything.
I just want to keep the the rules.

It is what the original meanings are that make them bad. Except for the 'a' word. That has always meant donkey. Actually, the 6 "universally recognized swear words" were actually normal words in the anglo-saxon language until the 1100s or so, when the Normans invaded. The Normans, believing the anglo-saxons to be inferior and by extension their language, turned the anglo-saxon terms for things into "vulgarities". In that regard, every time we try to censor out "swear" words, we are bowing to and condoning a 900 year old genocide and cultural opression. As for offensive, the laws of freedom of speech were not put into place to protect the speech we like. They were put into place to protect the speech we don't like, or don't agree with, or find offensive. The American founding fathers realized that people would always try to silence ideas they didn't agree with, just as people have silenced ideas and cultures since either came into being. Since swears were not "made intentionally to make fun of others", Retermined's statement doesn't really hold water. For that matter, who is he or anyone to say what "fouls God and the Bible"? Finally, I cannot find the passage in Isaiah he is referring to. Please clarify?
