tommy-tonebender ANYWAY. My heart goes out to all who are saddened by this. I know I am. Another rock legend, gone. I have serious respect for all muscians. I think Russ says it best... Russel writes:- "As with many musicians, myself to a more a physical extent,we all have our inner demons to battle, and Ike Turner's were welldocumented. However, despite the shadier and less respected parts of hislife, his contribution to the world of music shouldn't be overlooked. Hispioneer-ing approached gave us the very first footprint of rock n' roll withhis record 'Rocket 88', and he went on to combine rhythm n' blues, rock,funk and soul in a ground-breaking way that set a template for decades tofollow. His collaborative spirit, musically, is something that will begreatly missed. Playing with Ike at Manchester and in Harlem last year, gavethe Gorillaz' performance of Demon Days a much deeper dialogue, and left usa musical memory that none of the members of Gorillaz will forget. In response to the 'darker' areas of Ike Turner's life, I must say that I don't know who to believe about all that anymore. I find it good practice, in the long run, to separate the art from the personality, the music from the musician.
Ike Turner created amazing music. His family and friends will miss him for his personality; the world will miss him for his music.

I have the concert for demon days live, and Ike comes out in this ridiculously tight jacket and can barely move in it.
Unfortunately, that's the only way I'll remember him.

The cause of death for Mr. Turner was released not that long ago. It was a cocaine overdose.
