Wow. It seems you hit the nail on the head. That sounds like an excellent idea, and, even though I don't know what's worked in the past, might be our only route to reviving this guild. My cousin is gone now, so I'm back, but school starts on the 28th. Blah.
Mostly, when I've RPed in times past, I've simply made up things as I went by them. RPing in a place that's not real allows for a more unlimited way to expand your posts. Thus in this area, which is Seattle, I do feel a little unsure of where to start. Plus, I live in PA, so I'm the absolute maximum distance from Seattle.
And...Lack of 'don't do it'? You posted at midnight, at least here.
I'll answer in reverse.. the "don't do it" for my idea of sample posts... my orignial post on that was posted on Tuesday... So when I posted the "lack of" on Friday, i simply meant in those interm days, no one had told me "bad idea" so I went ahead and did it.
Most of the RPing I've done in the past has been given a general setting, mostly Salem Mass, and we're just made things up as we went, but the addition of several fixed settings, like the club, the Manor, and the bed and breakfast, gave some people starting points. But I do hear you on the setting.. being so far away from it, or like me, never having been there, if makes it difficult to get involved in the setting.
For me, the sticking point to getting started in RP here has been the C-Sheet. In the past I've made them... but I never filled all the points in because we never really used them. Most of what I did involved the dots and occasionally, the gifts (which honestly never got used either)... So filling out a full C-Sheet here has had me checking and double checking it to make sure I've done it correctly (which I didn't the first time around). I agree that we probably will need a C-sheet here, because of the kind of RP this looks like it will be... so I'm not suggesting we nix the sheet... I'm just saying, that's been my major hang-up, because I can't post until I get one in.
Hopefully, things will pick up around here. I'm finally done moving, so tonight.. I unpack... I can't wait to find my books. ^_^
