"Yea, I guess you're right," Nomaa said, stifling a yawn with the back of her hand. She smiled over at Mimi as she stood, bending over her pack and pulling out a pair of shorts and a tank top. Turning her back to Mimi, she quickly slid out of her dress, though she still had her undergarments on. In a flash she was in a pair of blue plaid shorts and a white tank top, slithering underneath the covers with a contented sigh. "Night Mimi," she yawned out, the tail end of her words fading off into a contented breathing of a girl who was more tired than she would have liked to admit.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sunlight streamed in from between the shades of their little room, causing Nomaa to stir. She had slept like a rock all night, so as she woke up, she yawned, stretching out on her stomach. Her left foot was dangling out of the bed, the covers pulled around her randomly, almost tangling around her. Yawning again, she shook her head, pushing up from the bed and looking around the room. She had to wonder what time it was, and for that matter, what time they had gone to bed at. Still, she felt refreshed and ready for another day's training.

((I thought I would saf etime with a little jump there. Sorry it took so long!))

((It's OK...I hate when the "night" drags on anyway xp ))

As the morning sun brightened the girls' room, it caused Mimi to stir slightly. Unlike Nomaa, she wasn't so willing to get up. Instead, she merely rolled over onto her back and draped one of her forearms over her eyes to block out the light, while the other arm rested beside her head on her pillow. She stayed like that for a minute or two before sighing and moving the arm that covered eyes to the other side of her side, mirroring the other arm. Slowly, she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling she was currently facing. She took a moment to remember where she was before turning her head to see Nomaa in the bed on the other side of the room.

"Good morning," she said softly, as she was still a bit tired. She stifled a yawn and continued, "Guess we have to get up now, huh?" Mimi enjoyed sleeping in, but today was a big day and she couldn't afford to spend all morning in bed. Still, she was rather slow to get up and get ready. At this point, she had merely pushed herself up in a sitting position, where she sat rubbing the sleep from her eyes and brushing loose strands of blonde hair from her face.

Sakura walked through the gate that acted as a divider. Well, she staggered is more like it. She was finally back to civilization. After so many days in the forest, anyone would be happy to finally get back to a city. Maybe a couple days in Pewter City's Pokemon Center would get her used to the city. She would then challenge Brock with stronger Pokemon. Of course, she would train her Pokemon in the surrounding area of Pewter. Not the forest of course, the territory in front of Pewter. More Pokemon would be there, not those stupid bug pokemon clogging up her path. But Spear wasn't stupid, he was one of those Pokemon that couldn't ever be mean. She managed to stumble over to the Pokemon Center. "Nurse Joy, I need you to heal my Pokem---" Sakura's voice failed and she got dizzy. "Uh..." She felt her body hit the floor and Nurse Joy scream. Then everything went black...

When Sakura woke up, it was morning and she was in the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy was hovered around, along with an old lady stuffing herbs down her throat. Sakura couldn't help but cough everything bitter up after it had been crudely stuffed into her mouth. "What are you doing?" Sakura said with a muffled kind of voice. "Oh, dear, you sort of passed out on the Pokemon center floor." Nurse Joy folded her hands together and placed them in her lap. The herb lady was busy packing up and leaving, she obviously was just called to make Sakura wake up. Her mother being an herbalist herself, Sakura was taught that herbs could do everything and everything but with a natural cure. The herb lady dropped some energy roots she was stuffing in her before, as she is an old lady, and old ladies lose things all the time. Nurse Joy was cleaning up after the herbalist, all the little fragments that semed to come by were swept up. She put all the energy roots on the table. "So... What happened to me?" Sakura asked the Nurse. "W-we don't like to talk a-about it here!" she stammered, then sighed. "Your parents should be getting a note in the mail about your conditions." Sakura paused, then whispered to the Nurse. "My parents are not alive anymore..." The nurse gasped and shook her head. "Well, then I guess I'm going to have to tell you..."

Nurse Joy didn't exactly tell Sakura what was happening to her, but she didn't exactly keep it a secret that this thing was a bad, bad thing to have. Sakura ended not wanting to listen when Nurse Joy was ready to tell her, so the nurse typed it down on a stiff piece of painting paper. It took up a good page or so, and when she was done, she put it into a nice envelope and sealed it with some candle wax and the Nurse Joy seal, a cross. She flicked her wrist to send it over to the table where her bag and pokeball's were. "You can leave now if you want, you'll be quite weak but ready." She gestured toward the envelope. "And anytime you see a time when you need to know the information sealed in there, it will be in your 'Bottomless Bag'[tm] pocket labled "mail". So just anytime." She put everything back where it was supposed to be and passed it to Sakura who was already up and staggering. She took her bag and started to walk off. "Oh, and are my pokemon healed?" She said with a slight grin.

Sakura walked into the inside of the small gym. She wanted to see how hard Brock was to defeat. She could probably determine that by challenging the trainer that stood in her path. She let Miss out of her Pokeball, and let her sit on Sakura's shoulder. She wouldn't be using Spear here, he was weak against rock. Unless either Brock or the trainer had a ground type Pokemon, her Beedrill would be staying inside his Pokeball. She was just here to fight the trainer, go back into the city to gain a few more levels then, she would be ready to challenge Brock. She stepped in front of the trainer and waited for some groan-inducing pun to be said by him, but it didn't come as quick as she thought it would. "Um... You are here to challenge Brock, but... uh... I'll teach you a lesson with my rock! Uh... Pokemon!" Was all he managed to get out. "Go Geodude!" He sent out his first Pokemon and Sakura scanned it with her light brown Pokedex. The color was just to match her regular clothes. Misdreavus floated to the battlefield and got the first attack.

"Miss, use Psywave!" Miss quickly let the attack go, almost full blast, but this Geodude was quick. She only managed to hit it's side, still causing moderate damage. Miss dodged to the side when the Geodude used Roll out when it recovered from the blast. It was the first Roll-out, but since the move didn't hit, it would be discontinued. "Use Psywave once more Miss!" She did what she was told and hit Geodude directly on his face, er... body. It wasn't THAT strong, but the previous attack plus this one had caused massive damage to that rock Pokemon. It was too much for it, the Geodude struggled to get back up a few times, but then fell down, fainted. "No! Geodude!" He returned Geodude to its Pokeball with out a word, and sent out his Sandshrew, his eyes hidden by the protrusion of his baseball cap.

Sakura quickly scanned the Sandshrew and found out that is was a ground Pokemon. "Ooh! Spear, this is your chance!" Sakura sent out Beedrill as she watched the trainer's expression turn to awe as he suddenly realized he was not going to win. Beedrill took the first move as he hit the Sandshrew with String Shot, like Sakura had commanded him to. Sandshrew stood there as if open bait; his trainer did not tell him to do anything. Sandshrew got hit and was thrown back to against the wall. "Spear, hit him again while he's recovering!" String Shot had a direct hit again, and when the smoke cleared, the trainer was running out the door carrying Sandshrew and his other Pokeball. On the ground where he was standing, was a sack of P220. Up some stairs, there was Brock, waiting to take her on. His eyebrow was raised and he was tossing his Pokeball up in the air and catching it. Sakura raise her hand and put a finger up as if to say 'wait.' She rushed back to the city and was ready for some major training.

"Yep, that's the plan. Let's get a move on sleepy head!" Nomaa smiled at the girl, slipping out of the bed only to trip on one of the tangled covers and almost face plant onto the floor between the two beds. Managing, somehow, to stay on her feet, she pulled the covered off of her and tossed them back onto the bed for now. One could definitely say that she was not the most graceful swan in the flock - wait what? Slipping out of her night clothes, she stood for a moment in simply her undergarments as she rummaged through her bag for a change of clothes. Pulling out a neatly folded pair of jeans and a black tank top, she slipped them on, folding the dress she had been wearing the day before and putting it in the bag instead of the clothes she now had on her other change of clothes.

Glancing over at Mimi, she began to run her fingers through her hair to put it in some sort of order, a bright smile gracing her lips. She had to admit that she excited for another day of training. Before long she would be able to take on Brock, but for the time being she had to work something else out. Maybe work on training her Magikarp up enough to where it would at least be able to do something...but who knows how long that would take. "You ready for today," she asked Mimi, wondering how the girl was doing with the pressure of taking on a Gym Leader in battle. For any pokemon trainer, this would be one of the most nerve racking days of their lives - she knew it was one of hers, and she was not even facing anyone today.

Mimi forced herself out of bed shortly after Nomaa had gotten up. She rummaged through her bag for her clothes. She opted for the same outfit she'd worn yesterday - her peach-colored uniform, knee-high white socks, and red shoes. She was sitting on the edge of her bed putting her socks and shoes on when Nomaa looked over at her and smiled. She didn't say anything for a few moments, probably lost in thought, so Mimi finished dressing in the meantime. The moment she finished buckling her shoes, Nomaa asked her question.

"I'm not sure," Mimi admitted. "I think I'll be OK. I've trained enough and I have a type advantage. But this IS a gym battle. It's supposed to be challenging. So I have to admit I'm a little nervous." Mimi suddenly became aware of the heart beating wildly in her chest. The anxiety didn't really hit her until just now, with the gym match closer than ever. This would be her first true test as a trainer, and she wanted to pass...she wanted to prove that she had what it takes to be a trainer. And although she was really banking on her type advantage, she knew future gym matches would require more than just that.

"What about you Nomaa? I know we haven't known each other long and we're already going our separate ways. What are your plans? Maybe we'll cross paths again in the future? I sure hope so."

For one reason or another, Nomaa didn't think about her words making Mimi more nervous than she had been before. That, of course, was not her intention, but she had a feeling that the girl would be just fine. They had only been together a short time, but she could tell that the girl had promise. Giving her a broad smile, she looked down, adjusting the waist of her jeans slightly. "I'm sure you'll do fine. As for me, I guess I'm going to head forwards until I can figure out a way to overcome my type disadvantage. I could shoot myself for not thinking of it sooner, but I'm sure Charmander is going to come in handy during some of the later Gym Matches. Just have to get through this one first!" She laughed heartily, though there was a sense of seriousness in her voice.

Nomaa really was slightly disappointed in herself for not thinking of this dilemma sooner. No doubt the trainers ahead were going to be a lot tougher - the majority of them will have already gotten the badge. She was just going to have to work something out if she stood any chance of beating Brock in the near future. Type disadvantages sucked. "Yea, I hope we do get to meet up at some point too! It was nice to have company," she said with a smile, tossing her hair behind her shoulders as she went to shlump her bag onto her person. She was sincere when she said that she wished they could keep traveling together - but their journeys were taking them separate ways, and she had a feeling they would be back on track at some point. After all, they still had a long way to go before they could take on the Indigo League Pokemon Championships. Stepping forwards, she extended her hand towards the girl, never really being good with saying bye. "Mimi, I really think you are gonna do awesome today. Wish I could stick around and watch, give you a cheer leading section, but I don't wanna fall too behind! Good luck, is what I guess I am trying to say."

Mimi got up from the bed, tossing her bag over her shoulder as Nomaa did the same thing. She sighed, knowing goodbyes were in order. The girls didn't really have the luxury of wasting time with idle conversation, putting off goodbye. Mimi took Nomaa's extended hand firmly and smiled warmly. "Thanks, Nomaa. I know you'll be fine too. You'll get that badge somehow." She sighed heavily and paused for a moment, reluctant to end the conversation and leave Nomaa for who knew how long.

"Good luck to you too. And..." her eyes closed and her smile brightened as she added, "it's not really goodbye. More like a 'see you later,' right? So, I'll be seeing you, I guess." She nodded once, half to signal she was finished talking and half to swallow the small lump that had unknowingly formed in her throat.

"Oh, I'm sure I will," she said with a laugh from the encouragement Mimi gave her. She knew she would get the badge eventually - she had to regardless. At this point it was more figuring out a way to do so. There was a brief moment of awkward silence between the two of them, but it ended as Mimi brought up a good point - this was certainly not the last time they were going to see one another! Laughing, she leaned forward and gave the girl a hug, glad that she had traveled with the girl for the short amount of time they had been able to.

"You better believe you aren't getting rid of me that easily," she said with a small chuckle, releasing the girl from her grasp. For some reason she was finding it harder to leave her, but she knew that Mimi was right - they would meet up again at some point. Giving her one last wave, Nomaa turned and walked out of the room, forcing herself not to look back because she knew that the moment she did she was going to be reluctant to leave once more. Heading out of the pokemon center, Nomaa released Charmander from his pokeball, feeling like she needed the company to continue on without Mimi. Giving him a smile as she paused outside the pokemon center doors, she kneeled down, giving the small flame pokemon a high-five.

"You ready to get going? We're gonna have to figure out a way to take out those rock pokemon before we can come back and earn the badge. There's going to be a lot of strong trainers on the next route, but I think we can take them, right?" Charmander responded happily, the only way he knew how - with an energetic "Char!" Nomaa chuckled, standing and adjusting the straps on her backpack before turning and heading towards the pokemon mart. She wanted to make sure that she was completely stocked on things before she continued on her journey. Continuing on without the badge and battling the trainers who were sure to be tougher ahead was a little nerve wracking, but it was the only way fr her pokemon to gain enough experience to evolve.
