Snow.
Snow.
Snow.
Snow was everywhere, it was almost always here, it rarely go warm even in summer, though there was less snow in the summer and they were able to grow things...She sighed and smiled, she loved the snow, loved how it glittered in the sunlight, loved new smooth fresh snow looked after it was freshly fallen. Loved the sound it made under her feet. Humming happily to herself, Uriah, bundled in a very warm, fur lined coat, hood drawn up over her head to keep her heat in.
That's where Abner found her, "Uriah!" He caught his breath when she swung around to look at him. By Grayval, she was beautiful. Fur lined a perfect face angelic face, large blue eyes that now glittered at him happily as she smiled. Her nose and cheeks were touched with rose; she looked like some kind of winter goddess. He shook himself, "I'm sorry, what?"
Uriah laughed, "Stunned by the sunlight reflecting off the snow again?" She asked. He grimaced inwardly, that happened a lot around her, good thing she actually believed it.
"Yeah."
"If you want to go home, we don't have to go hunting now, I'm sure there will be plenty later tonight." Uriah's smile had disintigrated into a look of concern.
Frantic to get that smile back he said hurriedly, "No, no, I'm fine! Let's go, it'll be much colder later and we want to build up our stores. Old man Teras' knee is twinging, a big storm he says."
She nodded, her expression sobering, the opposite of what he wanted but her mind was on the coming hunt, "Alright then, good hunting to us." She pulled up her bow which she'd stuck into the ground beside her and moved down the snow hill, making her way down expertly so she didn't sink into the snow depths of the drift.
Abner followed, stepping where she stepped, "Good hunting to us." He agreed under his breath.

Snow. The King stared out at it as well. Although the sight of it, and of this beautiful children frolicking in it, should have brought him joy, it did not. It, like everything else, filled him with dread.
The king saw signs everywhere. A spilled cup of milk was an omen. A spiderbite on his daughter, Idun, spelled her doom.
Others might think him crazy, but they did not carry the burden he did. The well-being of everyone in Greyzval was on his shoulders. He knew he had been given a special foresight to protect his country. The damned White Council was up to something. When were they not?
The King stared out the window and brooded. He saw a dark future for himself and his children, and perhaps all of Greyzval.
[[OOC: and I just realized there is a White Council in the Dresden Files series XP. Oh well. It isn't really anything like this one.]]

On the contrary, the future Uriah saw, couldn't be brighter. She was as happy as could be, having no knowledge of the nefarious council or the burdens life outside her home. Right now she was sighting down her bow at a rather large and healthy looking animal, horns high and proud, reaching up towards the sky. She loosed her quarrel and it struck home. HEr prey screamed but didn't fall, instead it took off, away from danger. Uriah took off after it, feet moving surely and quickly over the snow. She pulled back one more arrow, stopped, paused then loosed it. The head buried itself in the fleeing animal's hind leg and it went down hard.
"Sometimes I wonder why I even come with you." Abner said, his voice full of admiration, "The Hunters taught you well." He smiled down at her appraisingly.
"Remember you're one of them too, Abner. I couldn't have done it without you too." Uriah grinned up at him then started after her game.
Abner flushed but puffed his chest out as he followed.

((I might xP Sorry for the gone-ness guys, my internet company cancelled are service. We should get it back though. It was due to a misunderstanding in our payment method. They took it from our bank, even though we mailed a payment in. Then a month passed without them giving it back, so we assumed they had just put it for next month's payment as well.))
