"No. We kill it." Illuminatus concentrated hard on the temperature runes around the creature and began to lower them, freezing the creature, and then the air around it. After about five seconds, the temperature hit absolute zero and even the air became hard around it. "That ought to do it," said Illuminatus smugly before another Kappa dropped out of a tree and knocked Illuminatus to the ground, digging it's claws in and opening its mouth for the kill.

Yuki shot it before the kappa could go any further. "Damn!" she cursed and looked around. "Either they were on a stroll, or we're gonna be attacked by a whole group of them." she said, putting the gun away. She went over and carefully took the kappa off of Illuminatus. She placed it near a tree and made a little prayer. "Ok, Dr. Freeze, I guess you can get up now!" she said teasing him.

Illuminatus got up and inspected the creature, shot cleanly between the eyes. "You're an impressive marksman, er, woman. I certainly couldn't make a shot like that, at least not without using some of my powers." He suddenly spun and drew his sword, slicing another creature cleanly in half with the evil blade, which gleamed sharply and had an unpleasant aura of fear and death. Another one joined the first as Illuminatus stabbed it and ripped his sword sideways. "I really hate these things," he commented. "They're always trying to sneak-" And another one fell on top of him. This time, though, Illuminatus was able to reach out a hand. That was a mistake for the Kappa. There was a blinding flash of green light, and the creature simply exploded into charred bones. Illuminatus held what looked like green fire in his hand, squeezing it so it absorbed into him, claiming the life force of the Kappa for his own.

Yuki jumped back at the exploding kappa and pointed at his shoulder. "Um.. you've got some kappa on you. And must you be so cruel? Why do you think they're attacking us in the first place?" she said, avoiding almost all the creatures attacking her. She shot one, though it only scratched the side of their head, leaving them partially deaf and un-balanced.

Illuminatus brushed some ash off of his shoulder and replied, "Cruelty is everywhere. What do the actions of one man against a monster matter?" He aimed a crackling stream of deep purple lightning at another Kappa, blasting it backwards into a tree. "I think they're attacking us because they're hungry. No Kappa can resist human flesh." As he said this, hundreds of pairs of glowing eyes opened and looked malevolently at Yuki and Illuminatus.
Illuminatus stumbled backward and abruptly fell over. They had reached the lake, and the forest ended in a short, gravelly beach. A deep bubbling sounded behind him in the lake, and the kappas scattered, shrieking fearfully. This time, a deep watery growling sounded from the lake.

Yuki saw all the eyes staring at them, but was completely calm. When they reached the lake, and she saw how all of them left, she wondered what was inside the lake. "Psst! What do you think it is?" she asked Illuminatus, hoping he would know.

Before he could answer, the water flew upwards in a brilliant spray as a gigantic sea serpent emerged. Finned along the back for all 200 feet of its gigantic body, the creature towered above them, grey-green scales sheeting water. The thing's golden eyes glowered at them, and a long, black tongue came out and tasted the air. Sparks flew from Illuminatus's palms as he prepared to strike, light flashing all around him, and the creature bellowed at him. "Arezh naracazh!"
The rocks around Illuminatus sparked and melted as he directed his attack into the ground. "E czhero nagz Salacazharö?" he inquired before bowing and saying, "Erro Illérodrë* arda Ered Sineth al Sarádwan. E czhero eczhodîne." The sea serpent bent down to study him with boulder-sized eyes in a head the size of an SUV.
"Arzè nara. E dherö edra?" It rumbled, looking at Yuki.
"Introduce yourself," hissed Illuminatus. "I'll translate."
*Illérodrë- Illuminatus's name in Salacazharö.

Yuki pouted at his hiss and shrugged it off and stepped a little closer. She looked over quickly at Illuminatus and then at the serpent. "I'm Yuki Akamatsu. Pleased to meet you!" she said and smiled kindly. "Please forgive me for troubling you!" she said and took a bow.

"Taraczái al ered orû aldra." (The Pures are in an underwater city.) A mental picture was conveyed telepathically to Illuminatus, who realized it was some strange bubble-field that pushed back the water. He looked at Yuki and asked,
"How well can you swim?"

Yuki was surprised and tried to keep her face composed. "I can swim... fine!" she said and laughed a little nervous.

The sea serpent dipped his head, and Illuminatus carefully held onto one of its fin bones. When Yuki was aboard as well, the serpent dived underwater. The cold green-black depths rushed past them, and they approached a strangely lighted city made up of gigantic bubble fields. They crashed through the gelatin-like bubble field and fell on a cold metal floor.

Yuki coughed a little and rubbed her head. "Gee, thanks for the heads up..." she thought. "Uh, where... are we?" she said, looking at the metal floor and around.

"In a bit of a sticky situation," said Illuminatus. Several burgundy-robed guards were approaching, swords and guns drawn. "Got any ideas?" he asked Yuki.

Yuki looked over at him with a face that said 'not-at-all'. "Well, maybe they're guards of the village or a secret society." she said bluntly, still not sure and stood up. "Uh, hello! We're travelers! Yeah, and we would like to stay in your village for a few days. If.. that's ok, of curse!" she said to the guards. "Don't say where we're from, ok?" she thought so only Illuminatus could hear her.

The head guard sneered at her. "You've come to take away the Pures. I can see it staring out at me from your worthless mind. You're under arres- agh!" The guard was abruptly cut off as Illuminatus unleashed a brilliant stream of ultraviolet-purple lightning at the guard and his fellows.
