Shaving does not make hairs thicker or darker. If this was the case, all women would have grizzly legs after a day or so, and all men would have a dense, dark 5 o'clock shadow by 10:30.
Shaving will, however, stimulate the hair follicles and make the hair grow faster, removing the tapered, dead ends of the fine hairs that currently exist. Removing those aforementioned tapered ends makes the tips of each hair feel sharper and "stubblier" when you touch them. Give it a little while, and it'll be right back to how it was, soft and indistinguishable to the touch.
"Well, my brother said that as he shaved over time, it made his beard grow in more!"
Well, your brother was also going through puberty at the time too. Of course his beard would come in thicker over time. My beard is coming in thicker over time, but it's not because I'm shaving it; it's because I'm on T and my body is gradually changing.
Some female-bodied persons experience the same thing with their body hair as well. When I was 15, you'd be hard-pressed to find a dark hair on my body. 18, you could see a bit of a fuzz trail on my belly. At age 21, it was a little darker, along with the hair on my arms. Changes like that aren't going to stop until you're nearly into your mid-twenties, for most people, and possibly beyond.
Therefore, sorry to say, shaving is pretty futile if you're trying to transform yourself into the next member of ZZ Top. However, you can certainly still do so; you might as well practice for later. ;D
EDIT: And just a note: I guarantee, once you're on T for a while, the novelty will wear off, and shaving will just be ANNOYING.

Even if you only have peach fuzz, I strongly suggest shaving. It doesn't promote hair growth, but it makes your face a little "stubbly," you know, so it actually looks like you've shaved. Even if you don't get the "shadow," you'll still get the texture.
If you grow significant amounts of facial hair, I'd reccoment using shaving cream. It really helps prevent razor burn.
Does any one know how to prevent nicks? I'm sick of having a bloody chin D:

In regards to Bas's comments, he's right for the most part. But, I've been on T for a year (save a week or so) and so far, I've had to REALLY shave after.. 2 months only? Basically, it takes two months for any noticeable facial hair to come in. And I still have no sideburns. Might be genetics, mind you, but for a female I was freaking hairy. As a male, I'm less hairy than average, even on T. It's kinda ironic. I guess it depends on the whole genetics pattern and general hairyness in the family. My father's a hairy b*****d, I'm not, go figure. Or T just takes that long.

I've shaves since I discovered the razor-blade, but that's cuz I'm weird... It's just a couple of years ago I started shaveing my face, cuz it grows a fuzzy wersion of hair, even if it's barely noticable it makes you look more like a girl. And I'm sad to say that my shaveing would have Kyan (from Queer Eyes) crying. -_-; I don't use a single product, unless you count water, only thing is that I shave in the shower. (Mirror, who needs that? xD) But I still haven't gotten any form of razor-burns in my life, I can't recall haveing cut myself the bit either.

Anhedonic Hedonist gonk Oh, dear god. I completely forgot about parents. My mother doesn't seem to realize how dramatic this is, and my gender is on my mind 24/7. I sit down, and I have to slap myself on the wrist and say, "Look at how the boys sit. Sit like them!" JUST because I'm self conscious and want people to think I'm male. This goes on every second of every day of my life. From a young age I hated swimming because of my female bathing suit- so from a young age I developed the habit of wearing a t-shirt and shorts over it. She doesn't understand how self conscious I am over this, and I really really need to transition ASAP. I sometimes say stuff like, "Of course she knows how to do that, she's a girl" or, "Girls are weird" and, "I want a mustache" and "I'm not a girl!" Then I remember I am technically female. I honestly forget I have no p***s... ha... Another question: Can people feel this way, and change their minds, and live normal female lives? OH MON DIEU! >.> I tought I was weird for having to remind myself that this isn't how boys act. Sometimes I get really hyper and I act like a total ditz. Then I feel really depressed because it makes me question if I can't be a boy cuz I don't act enough like one. I mean, boys are ditzy too at times right? I think so. Sometimes I yell at people or start crying when they call me a girl, but not all the time. I forget I'm a chick all the time unless I'm reminded by my cursed bust size or someone calls me Sophia. Total buzz kill. lol You have to feel it. If you feel it's the right thing go for it. I know I do, so no more second doubting myself ^^ It feels good.

As someone who taught for a living I can guarantee there are boys who are hyper and ditzy. Not the majority, know, but there were one or two in every batch of 30-40 tthat passed through my room in a given day. Be gentle with yourself. you don't have to conform to some arbitrary ideal of what a boy/man is; you need to find out what being a man/boy means to you. What sort of man are you? What sort of man do you want to be? Once upon a time they would force transfolk into extreme gender stereotypes. They don't do that anymore. why should we have fewer choices or be lest diverse then cismen are? Not all cismen like the same things or act the same way.

You're right. I've never wanted to be the stereotype man. I want to be considerate and a total gentleman. I want women to see me and not go after me cuz I'm hott, but because I'm an awesome person. ^^ I don't want to lift weights, I don't watch sports, but not all guys do. I want to be classy.
