... when you go to the library specifically searching for leisurely reading and end up with a book on linguistics. (Happened to me just today, actually. xD)

... when you study a foreign language for the sole purpose that you could steal vocabulary for your conlang. (*coughfrenchcough*)

xD

You randomly shout woeds at people with sounds that correspond to your conlang in order to see what sounds good for curses and other shouting material.

(Yes... xD)

... when you find yourself thinking in your conlang even though you've only been conlanging for a little while.

... when you don't know a translation into your conlang you immediately make one up on the spot.

... when you carry around your conlang notebook everywhere in the sense that if you make a new word you add it to your master spreadsheet later.

I carry a notebook everywhere. I need a better vocabulary indexing method though (the"write everything in a notebook" method is nto working well).

... You insist on translating all of the works in your English textbook into your conlnag
...THEN you insist on beinging it to class and using it insted of your English vertion

(English Lit. class is never the same afterwards).

Haha, that sounds fun. =P

... when you speak in children's language games such as Pig Latin or Gibberish in your conlang. (Shudugiluduga luduga sudugoludugerudugeshudugi Nudugiudugoruduga! whee )

... when every game, movie, tv show, website, book, and person inspires a new aspect of a new conlang, and you then spend a half hour daydreaming about how the grammar would work instead of interacting with said inspirational source.

Even this thread is making me think of new ideas. So many ideas, so little concentrating power. surprised

...When you're supposed ti be watching your team compete at state competition, but you spend all the time you aren't swimming working on your conlang. sweatdrop

...When you translate other's language lessons into your conlang.

(I just spent the past hour translating Vajra's Indonesian dialogs into Aha'uluyi'i.)

Can you say, "Niya?" =P

All my friends use it now.

... When people know what you are saying by inflection alone because they never know what language you're speaking. (Yes. Mucho.)

I do nothing like anything you guys do. My conlanging process goes so slowly, but surely. Like a glacier.

.... when your head is full of more half-assed concept languages than there are real languages in the known world.

.... when you consider yourself bilingual, multilingual, or a polyglot, because you can speak one or more conlangs (with no more than 100 world-wide speakers each per conlang).

.... when you're tempted to tie down (figuratively) relatives and friends and other loved ones and force-teach them your favorite conlang so at least SOMEBODY knows what the hell you're talking about. twisted

.... when you've made or learned so many conlangs that you begin to lose touch with natlangs, including your native language. (This are happens to self all-time?)

I'd say my conlangs progress at approximately the same rate as the expansion of the universe.

No one knows exactly how fast it happens, and we're not even sure if/when it does happen. But it does eventually happen. mrgreen

Ooo~ That sounds intriguing... Muahaha... *wanders off to do so*

... when you learn other people's conlangs because you want to see from another perspective of conlang creation. And/or solely because you think the words will sound cool based on your recently acquired knowledge of phonetics. (Haha, I just read like... five essays on phonetics... too bad I can't remember anything because it was so much in one sitting! xD)

The majority of my conlang doesn't even really exist. And it has basically no lexicon. Its just a bunch of ideas living in my brain. As time goes by, one idea eats some of the others and gets big a fat, then it exits my brain and incorporates itself into the language.

You can see all that I have here. Phonologically its complete, though I've yet to record it all on the site yet. Besides that, the ideas in my brain are still debating on which one gets to come out.

My conlanging happens at the speed of procrastination. The more work I have to do, the more conlangily inspired I am.
