Dora smiles at Evere and Reiko and pulls out a paper from the bottom of her pile.
"Okay, if you two are ready we can start class now!"

"Maybe she meant the electric guitar and the tuba?" guessed Keru. "I dunno. Just a guess.."
Evere's eyes wandered over to Reiko. "Oh yeah! I remember! You guys have so many bips." She looked around. "Oh yay! A flute-pud! Aren't they shiny and pretty?" She stroked her flute.

"Ah, you're probably right." Dora smiles at Keru and shakes her head. "It's been such a long day..."

"Oh yes let's!" Evere picked up her flute and stared at it. "Um..So many hooles.." She marveled at it.
Keru returned the smile. "Yes. A VERY long day." She sighed. "Evere couldn't wait to go to her first lesson, isn't that right?"
Caught by surprise she quickly said, "Oh..yeah..sure." Then went back to staring at her flute.

"Well, she's got a lot of enthusiasm. That's very good." Dora giggles as Evere examines her flute.
"Today's lesson is going to be all about notes and scales. What do you two know about scales?" Dora leans over the podium and waits for her students to answer.

Looking down at her flute, reiko blew into the whole near the end of the flute. "I've been practicing at home yep yep. Every hard i think. Why did they make it do we have to hold it at a slant and blow through it miss dora?"

"Notes and scales are those squiggly lines on the paper that tell you what sort of things to do right?"

Embarassed Evere said stupidly, "Well..I know that scales tell you how much you weigh.."
Keru giggled. "Silly pud", She whispered.

Dora listens to Reiko and nods as she speaks. "Yes, notes are marks on the paper that tell you what to play. Very good, Reiko! We'll talk about how to play your flute in another class, this one is just to talk about notes and scales."
((For time's sake... I could go on and on about flute. XD; wink )
"Um, some scales can weigh you, Evere. But there are also scales in music. A scale is a series of notes."

"Oh..well..Ok!" Evere blushed. She turns to focus her attention on Reiko as she speaks. Nodding every now and then. "Mmmhmm.. hey. i never knew that!" She smiled at learning something new. Eager to learn more she leaned on her desk to hear better.

"There are many different kinds of scales. Majors scales, minor scales, chromatic scales, pentatonic scales... But today we'll work with a major scale. There are seven notes in a major scale." Dora pulls a pitch pipe out of her bag and blows a note, then sings. "Do re mi fa so la ti do. It may sound like there are eight notes, but the first and last note are actually the same."

"Oh wow. There are so many scales" She looked amazed. "Seven..Moooom!"
"Yes?" Keru replied from a chair.
"Could you PLEASE take notes for me?"
"Oh..well. Sure!" She took out a pen and notebook paper.
Going back to the lesson she repeated the seven scales under her breath. Just in case she forgot. Then she remembered that mom was taking notes. Just so I'll remember how they sound then, she thought.

Repeating that little ditty in her head, reiko looked up. "How come there are only eight int he major ones? Is there a difference between the others?"
