*Removes the semi wet towel from her hair and places it on the water/blood puddle on the floor*

"There. That should take care of that for now. And thank you *smiles* Coco is one of a kind. I've yet to find a cat as smart as him."

*opens the first aid kit*

"This might hurt a little bit."

*takes out some alcohol cotton balls with a small pair of tongs and starts to clean the wound as Coco continues to watch them.*

Father Edmond cringes slightly, even though it doesn't hurt, as the young lady dabs his wounds with the cotton balls.

"Where are you from miss" Father Edmond asks as she cleans his self inflicted wounds.

*continues to clean the priest's wound with the cotton ball*

"You could tell I'm not from here?"

*Coco looks at Lavian and rolls his eyes* "Meeeooow"

*laughs* "Yes, I suppose my accent gives me away...I'm actually from England. I moved to here few months ago because of some...financial issues back home. I'm working at the inn here to earn money so that I can go back home."

*Takes out a bandage and starts wrapping the wound up.*

"What about you? Have you lived here all your life?"

-:England, in a slum in London:-

*Liam looked up at the darkening sky, the polluted air casting a haunting red light into his deep blue eyes. The sun was almost down. He quickened his pace just a little.

Even though the area he lived in was relatively safe from the creatures of the night, he didn't want to take any chances.

"Once I get back home, I'll be safe." he thought to himself. "Nothing can harm me in my sanctuary."

No one ever penetrated his so called "sanctuary", without exception. He usually used the word to refer to his little basement house, but after years and years of living the way he did, he'd unknowingly spread this sanctuary into his soul as well. He was, for all intents and purposes, alone, and he preferred it that way. Not because he was angry at the world for something dark in his past, no nothing like that. He just preferred to be alone. There was less to worry about when the only thoughts that needed attention were his own. He didn't have to comfort anyone, feel their pain, help them be strong when life got tough...he only had to make sure he stayed alive. This was the life he knew, and it suited him just fine.

Liam hurried past the thugs sitting on the steps leading up to the main part of the house that served as a roof for his. He tried to minimize the time he spent near them, fearing their knack for trouble would infect him like a disease, ruining his perfect existence. They absently glance at him, then go back to whatever illegal nonsense they were talking about this time. As he slammed the door/hatch behind him and set and locked all four iron bars into place over it, he dropped his shoulder pack full of groceries onto the small table and collapsed into a pile of clothes and rags that served as his chair. He glanced up at the last rays of daylight sneaking in through the small holes in the foundation he called "windows". He thought about the day, and a small thought entered his mind just before he drifted off to sleep. He didn't think it to be important, but it stuck with him and influenced his dreams.

"Life in the outside world - could anything make it worthwhile?"

Father Edmond smiled "I've spent most of my life in the Vatican" the lie rolled easily off his tongue, he had been using it for generations now. It was true that he had spent what humans would consider a lifetime in the service of the Vatican, hell, many lifetimes.

"Luckily my service to the pope allows me to travel sometimes. It's been a few years since I've been to England, what part are you from miss?" Father Edmond asks conversationally.

"I was born and raised in northern London. I'm hoping to go back there soon."

*finishes wrapped the wound up and puts the first aid kit back on the ground*

"I'll be right back."

*Lavian steps back into the kitchen, washes her hands, then returns to sit back down.*

"So are you ready for tea? It should still be warm. *pours tea from the tea pot into the three tea cups she brought*

*puts the tea pot down and grabs the sugar cube tongs*

"How much sugar would you like?"

*elsewhere in a small town in the Italian Country side*

a flash of lighting screeched across the sky as rain poured from the sky. The scintillating light from the flash illuminated a gruesome visage. A young man, no more than 20, stood towering over a limp figure.

Another flash of lightning reveals that the figure was skewered on a long sword its blood trickling down the blade. The young man let the figure slip off his blade, cleans it, then sheathed it.

"its done" he says in a grim tone as he leaves the scene of the killing as if nothing happened at all.

Another flash reveals several human figures all aghast with looks of horror, amazement, disgust, and envy. A voice breaks the awe stricken silence, " He...he...killed it... so easily! Not one of us was able to even get near it."

"Oh, no sugar for me" Father Edmond says with a smile as he takes the cup of warm tea. "Thank you for the tea miss, and for bandaging my arm" he says as he sips his tea. He drinks the tea with his right hand and hangs his left arm over the side of the chair, silently gesturing the cat coco over to him.

"Ah your welcome. It's the least I could do for you saving me back there."

*Coco walks over to Father Edmond rubs against his leg purring*

*Lavian sips her tea*

Father Edmond continues to sip his tea and absentmindedly pets the cat coco. Animals tended to stay away from him unless he was in his completely human form and most animals that had seen Father Edmond transform any part of his body, as this cat had, tended to avoid him completely. This cat however seemed to be accustomed to the unusual, confirming what Father Edmond had sensed about the cats owner.
"I've known the innkeeper here for a long time, he's a good man. Doesn't care who you are or where you came from as long as your a good worker." Father Edmond says smiling as he continues to pet the cat.

"Yes, he is a very sweet old man. It's rare to find people like that nowadays." Lavian sighed sadly looking down at her tea cup.

"He and his wife are probably the closest thing to a family I've gotten here-"

Coco looked up at Lavian with narrowed eyes and meowed.

"Other than Coco here. He's family too." The girl laughed as the cat went back to purring as Father Edmond petted him.

"They've been looking after me like I was their daughter. I hope one day I can repay them for their kindness." Lavian said as she smiled fondly at the thought of the older couple.

Standing up, the girl sat her tea cup neatly back on the tea tray.

"Well good father, I do terribly hate to say it, but I haven't to much longer till morning and I've got to finish washing up laundry. If you'll excuse me for about an hour I shall return."

Father Edmond sipped his tea and continued to pet Coco.
"If you have work to do then I should probably be leaving so I'm not in the way." He stood up and bowed slightly to her.
"Good evening miss" he says to the young lady and then turns his head to the cat "Be sure to keep her out of trouble now." He turns to leave, as he nears the door he turns his head back to the young women "If you ever need anything you can find me at the Vatican, just ask for me." And with that he steps out into the night air. It was still raining ever so slightly as he walked back towards the Vatican. that girl and her cat, I will have to get some more information on them but for now I should return and report he thinks to himself as he walks through the rain, the sky slowly turning from the black of night into the gray of pre-dawn.

Coco cautiously watched the door as the priest left. He had to be sure the man was gone before he could say anything to his master, or their secret would be out in the open before the Vatican.

Lavian looked over at the cat as she put her laundry basket down on the counter. "Well that was all certainly un expected. He has devotion though, I'll tell you that. To hurt himself like that....just wow."

The cat jumped up on the counter next to the young girl. "He knows you know. He wasn't fooled by ether of us." The cat said to his master.

"Well who's fault is that, hmm?" Lavian replied. "If you hadn't gone and let yourself become a play toy for those stupid wolves none of this would have happened!"

Coco pretended to be hurt by her comment. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry that you had to call them 'Stupid flea bags with no intelligence' just to get them to stop using me as a chew toy. They wouldn't have even known you weren't human if you hadn't called them that."

Lavian threw a hand towel at the cat that almost knocked him off the counter. "You know as well as I do how hard it is to remember what 'humans' can't see all the time. It's like going around pretending to be color blind all the time.....You know what...I'm tired. I need to get something to eat soon."

The cat regained his posture and looked up at the girl. "You want me to go cook you something again...don't you?"

The girl picked up the cat and hugged him. "Oh would you? Thank you!" She put him down on the floor and smiled. "Beef will work tonight. Ooo oo and make sure not to cook it too much."

"How did I get reduced to being a freaking cook..." Coco said under his breath as he walked towards the kitchen.

Father Edmond entered the Vatican as the first rays of sunlight struck the spire of the cathedral. The rain had stopped and for being out all night Father Edmond was remarkably dry as he knocked on the door of Carlisle Flanagan.

"Yes Father Edmond" came the voice of Carlisle Flanagan from the other side of the door. Father Edmond opened the door and entered the room.

"I hear you had some trouble on your walk last night" Carlisle Flanagan says as he looks at Father Edmond's ripped shirt sleeve, the white of the bandage showing through.

"Yes, two werewolves were chasing an innocent girl down some of the alleys. I dispatched the one who appeared to be the leader and let the other one live with a piece of silver lodged in a few of his bones." Father Edmond replies.

"Why did you let him live?" Carlisle Flanagan asks, his eyebrow raised.

"I was not ordered to hunt him." Father Edmond says flatly.

"And what happened to the girl Edmond" Carlisle Flanagan asked. Father Edmond had hoped he would not ask about her.

"I escorted her home where she insisted she bandage my arm." he says holding his arm up.

"Do you know why the werewolves were after her" Carlisle Flanagan asked.

"She was protecting her cat, they were apparently using it as a chew toy." Father Edmond responded with a slight chuckle.

"Retribution has new field assignments. It appears that a Demon has appeared in the southern end of Sicily. Can you be ready by nightfall?" Carlisle Flanagan asks picking up some papers from the small desk next to his chair.

"I can be ready now. What type of Demon is it this time?" Father Edmond says.

"Here is your assignment Edmond, I expect this taken care of quickly." He says handing Edmond the packet of paper off his desk. Father Edmond opens it and quickly reads through the papers. There at the bottom was the information he was looking for. Minimal force is neccessary, first limiter only followed immediately by the popes symbol and his signature. Father Edmond looks up at Flanagan.

"I shall have this taken care of quickly" he turns and walks out of the room. Having till nightfall Father Edmond sets out to the library to pay a certain librarian a visit. She might be able to get the information hes looking for.
