Ajit raised his eyebrow. "You're strange, ya know that?" He asked as he fluffed his wings out some. He was getting restless just sitting around. Xun and him had come out to let some steam off and ended up meeting up with Amaterasu. "So...how're we going to carry on a conversation?" He wondered outloud as he looked the red and white Eoghan over. Her crimson markings were brilliant, against her white fur, in the hot sunlight.

Amaterasu simply stared at Ajit and let out a loud, disapproving yawn in his direction. Hmph! Strange. No she wasn't! He was just boring... Yeah, that was the problem! It was true that he had a fun little rodent pal, but this Eoghan was duller than the sand under her feet! She tilted her head and smiled shrewdly at Ajit, and with a light jup, Ammy took off towards the south. Her white coat gleaming through the cloud of sand that was being kicked up all about her, she spread her wings out just enough to add some speed to her pace.

Ajit sputtered and coughed as sand was kicked up into his face. "What the..." He mumbled as he looked up and saw that Amaterasu had just taken off running. He looked down at Xun and grinned. "Well, looks like the chase is on." He said happily as he winked down at his pal. He crouched down low to the ground and, pushing off with his powerful back paws, he took off running, Xun close behind. They were both pretty quick but it seemed like this Amaterasu character was just as quick if not a little faster than the two.

Amaterasu glanced over her shoulder- Aha! So what if she couldn't speak? So what if she was "strange"? This guy got the message! A determined expression spread from her grin across her face as she angled herself forward in an attempt to make her body more aerodynamic. Ammy quickly glanced behind at Ajit once more. Goooood; He was just close enough~ With a snicker Ammy spread out her wings all the way and pushed herself high into the air with a heavy flap, leaving a small whirlwind of sand where she'd stood. Let's see him keep up~!!

Ajit skidded and fumbled to avoid the small whirl of sand that would have otherwise blinded him. He slowed his pace down long enough to grab a hold of Xun and flip him onto his back. "Hang on little friend, we're going for a short flight." He laughed as he spread his wings and Xun's short claws buried into Ajit's fur and held on tightly. He sped up and used his hind legs to push off the ground. "You're fast!" He yelled after as he shot up into the sky. "I'll catch up though!" He laughed more as he smiled. The stress that had prompted him to come out to the desert slowly melted away from him and wafted in the wind that was blowing over his body now.

Ammy smiled sharply to herself aupon hearing Ajit's voice behind her. He was 100 years to early to be able to catch up with her!! Her beak twitched in the breeze and they climbed higher and higher, closer to the bright sun. The rays it showered upon them were particularly strong that day, and they felt wonderful on Ammy's back. Before she knew it, her pace had suddenly slowed to a near-halt as she hovered on a warm air current peacefully. Amaterasu loved the sun's warmth more than anything else she knew of. She closed her eyes and let the wind carry her softly. It was enough to make any Eoghan fall asleep then and there.

The sun's rays were bright but didn't seem to bother his eyes as much as it usually did. All of a sudden a warmth surrounded his body and he took a deep breath. The air was warm. Not stifling warm but a relaxing, makes you want to take a nap warm. He realized that Ammy had slowed down and he was now catching up with her. Dang, but that Eoghan could fly fast. He hadn't met anyone that was as quick, if not quicker, than him. He smiled at the thought and was happy to have finally found someone that put up a challenge. "Hi there." He said as he finally flew up to her side. Gliding away from Ammy a bit he stretched out his wings to their full length and let himself just glide on the warm currents surrounding their bodies. "This is wonderful." He muttered more to himself that anyone else.

Hearing Ajit's voice, Ammy opened her eyes as if startled out of a daydream. She quickly relaxed, however, as she turned herself forward with a smile to catch a gust closer to where Ajit hovered. The skies in the desert were much nicer than anywhere else for her. Rarely were the they cloudy, and enough wind was swept in from the ocean to make for easy flying.
The ocean... water...
No matter how much she loved the desert, the fact remained that it was dry, hot, and downright inhospitable to most creatures. And Ammy was thirsty. She tilted her wing-like ears forwards over her forehead into a makeshift visor, and scanned the ground below. And there, waiting a bit to the north, was what she wanted. With a loud and happy screech, she pushed her wings forward into head-first dash towards the ground.

Ajit blinked as he watched Ammy. Boy was she a weird one. One moment she was relaxed and gliding on the wind and the next minute a screech was coming out of her beak. Ajit let out a frustrated breath and turned his attention to where Ammy was headed. Was that...water? He rose an eyebrow and wondered if the sun might be playing tricks on their eyes. Though, he knew that wasn't the truth. The desert was his backyard and it never did effect him in that way. "Xun, old buddy, looks like we get to take a break. Hang on tight." Ajit said as he tucked his wings in close to his body and headed in the direction of the water. Only he was going slower than Ammy. He really didn't feel like taking a head long dive into the water.

As she grew closer to the ground, what had been but a dot before came into focus. Just ahead of them was an oasis. Though small, it contained a pool of water, several palm trees, and clusters of flowering cacti scattered about. She glanced over her shoulder, grinning at Ajit, unsure whether or not he'd followed her or fallen asleep in mid-flight.
Ammy's smile grew wider and wider the closer she drew to the water. It was time for a break! Before hitting the water's surface, she spread out all four of her legs and beat her wings hard, breaking the speed of her divebomb. Water sprayed up from the resulting gust, showering both the surrounding plantlife and... Ammy. Pushing herself backwards, she came to a stop on the now wet sand in front of the pool.
Amaterasu. did. not. like. being. wet. With a distasteful snort, and furiously shook her entire body in an attempt to dry herself off.

Despite being a bit behind Ammy, Ajit hadn't managed to avoid the spray of water caused by Ammy's wings. As he landed in the sand next to Ammy water dripped off both him and Xun. He couldn't help but laugh. They were all soaked and it seemed Ammy didn't particularly like it. Xun jumped down from Ajit's back and they both shook their fur out, sending droplets of water flying through the air.
"That was fun." Ajit commented as he stretched his front paws out and yawned a bit. The sun beating down on them was quickly drying his fur and the warmth he was feeling calmed him even more than the flying did. This day was turning out to be a good one, even if it didn't start out like that.

Ammy closed one eye as Ajit and Xun shook themselves off, little drops of water flecking her side that faced them. She shook her head back and forth, trying to lodge any remaining water out of her ears. Amaterasu was all about the sun. Water, on the other hand, was not her thing. At least touching it wasn't.
Despite the strong sun's drying prowess, nothing could get her dry fast enough for Ammy's taste. She flumped down into the sand, rubbing her back on the ground ackwardly as her reflector got in the way. The sand worked its way between her fur and feathers none the less, taking with it any dirt that was on her as it fell back to the ground. She turned herself right-side up and stood, shaking any remaining sand out of her wings.
FINALLY! Dry once more! Happy as a clam, Ammy turned back towards the water that had caused her so much grief, and carefully dipped her beak into it, taking a good deep drink.
