Name: Mina Xanth
Occupation: UAC Weapon Research and Developement Scientist
Status: Healthy
Appearance: Mina stands at 5'4" tall with long black hair that reaches to her mid-back. She keeps her body in shape, doing exercises when she can. Therefore, her body shape is rather slim. She is usually seen wearing a red jacket, black shirt and skirt, as well as black shoes and stockings. If she's not, then she's usually wearing a long, white lab coat with the same type of clothes beneath, except without the stockings. Either way, she's ALWAYS got her flashlight with her somewhere, usually in a pocket or in one of her hands...
Biography: Mina grew up away from the city. Nothing special. She breezed through her education rather easily, very interested in learning most everything there was to learn about just about anything. However, she is terrified of the dark. It's always been an incurable phobia of hers. As much logic as she put into it, darkness has always sent a chill up her spine. Regardless, there was alot of money to be made on Mars working for the UAC, so she moved to Mars City and was assigned as a scientist to help with Weapon Developement Team. Her current project is the improvement of the Plasma Rifle.
Weapons: Flashlight.

Alex Reed walked out of the armory, rubbing his face with a yawn to try to shake the exhaustion off. He was up too late and needed a shave. Compared to Delta, Alpha level was positively boring. Still, the uncertainty of what was going on back there ate at him during all hours. He looked down and made one last check of his armor and weapons. Everything seemed everything was in place. He still had a half hour before his patrol started. He decided a coffee might wake him up and calm his nerves. Holding his helmet under his arm, he proceeded to the common kitchen nearby. As he walked in, he saw George Black sitting nearby. Apparently he had the same idea.
"Doctor Black." Reed said curtly with an inclination of his head. He passed the scientist and made his way to the coffee pot, grabbing a mug from a nearby rack and pouring himself a cup, then adding large amounts of cream and sugar before taking a sip and closing his eyes as the hot drink warmed him from the inside.

Liz sat at the front desk, her head propped up by one arm, the other on her mouse, casually browsing the internet. She'd been told before that she has work to do, that she shouldn't shirk her duties. Liz had already requested a transfer off, so it's not like she really cared about what she was supposed to be doing anyways. After a few minutes of browsing about MartianBuddy.com, she sighed and rolled her eyes, slumping further.

However, something weird happened. She could have sworn that she heard a voice, a voice from a little girl. It said to her, "Help me..." It came from the stairs to the Mars City Underground. Had no one else heard it? She looked about, but no one else seemed to have noticed. Was she going crazy? She'd heard of this, but never had she before experienced it.

Easing slightly out of her chair, her heart was racing, her breathing starting to get a little heavy. Looking around one more time, she started to inch forward to the stairs. Step by step, she began to make her way over, eyes frantically darting about, looking to see if perhaps she could find a little girl who had hurt herself. Oddly enough, she really hoped that was the case.

The Marine Reed walked into the kitchen, helmet under his arm, and greeted George on the way to the coffee. The scientist leaned forward slightly and put his hand behind his head, responding, "I must confess, I don't actually have a Doctorate, just a Masters in Particle Physics." He gave out a short laugh before continuing, "If you're not too busy, why not sit down and join me for a minute or two? I don't have anywhere I need to be for a while." He raised his coffee mug to his companion and took another sip from it before setting it back down on the table.

Reed eyed Black for a moment, then took a seat across from him. The scientist seemed relaxed enough, and he could do with calming distraction before going on duty.
"Well, I guess if it's wearing a lab coat, my first inclination is to call it 'doctor.'" Reed said as he sipped his coffee then paused. He heard a strange noise. It sounded like a kind of skittering sound. He lowered his coffee and looked around, searching for the source of the noise.
"Did you hear that...?" He asked Black, keeping his voice low so he could continue to listen for the noise. Was it coming from inside the walls...?

Mina looked around. Her room in the living quarters was dark, which was odd. She usually kept small nightlights on all around the room, not enough to make it bright, but enough to keep some light in the room while letting it remain dim. She could only see some light peeking into her room from the cracked door... which also struck her as odd. The doors were automated, so if it was cracked, then it was likely broken, or ran out of power when someone tried opening it. She began to shiver, eyes darting around to the surrounding darkness in her room, hands quickly fumbling beside her on the bed. She grabbed her flashlight, quickly switching it on and aiming it around the room, only to see the light flicker on for a moment before shutting off... But that moment was all she needed. The flashlight revealed a corpse in the corner of her room before shutting back off. She let out a scream and ran doward the door, only to see a large, shadowy figure block the light in it and let out a loud, monstrous roar before the door dented inward, the dent striking her in the chest and knocking her back against the wall. The door suddenly ripped open and the large figure, whatever it was, was quickly apon her...

Mina let out a scream, sitting up in her bed, heart pounding as she looked around. The nightlights were all on. There was no corpse. Her door was fine... Just a dream... She shook her head, going to the bathroom of her living quarters and showering quickly before walking out and checking the time, making sure there was plenty of it before she had to go continue her work on the Plasma Rifle. Dressing herself in the usual black shirt, skirt, stockings and shoes with her red jacket, she grabbed up the flashlight from her bed and set it away in her pocket, then headed out. She needed some coffee, so she started out of the living quarters and headed to the kitchen. Not a long walk at all...

Name: Jeremiah (Joe) Luffin
Occupation: UAC Weapon Research and Development Scientist
Status: Healthy
Appearance: Jeremiah usually wears the white lab coat given to all the Mars compound scientist. His hair is cut short, maybe ten centimeters in length, and it's a jet black color. As many of the marines jest, he's a white lab rat, due to his pale skin. His eyes are a dark shade of brown and he stands only an inch above five and a half feet. All in all, he's just a standard scientist placed on Mars for the more 'extreme' expirements. When off duty, Joe, will often be seen still wearing his lab coat as he forgets to take it off often because his mind is still wrapped around work. What can be seen while this is worn are his black or khaki pants and his black shoes. He also has a silver watch on his left wrist.
Biography: Jeremiah was picked up by the UAC right out of college. Graduating Valedictorian at MIT with a major in Physics and a minor in Computer Programming, Joe was eager to join up with this renowned company. Knowing that many of the most advanced technologies did indeed spawn from this company. Within two years his expertise was required on more pressing expirements which would require him to move to the new Mars compound. Jeremiah didn't have much of a social life, though as most scientists are had a couple crushes here and there, and his family died off long ago. This meant he didn't have any ties to Earth and no real drawbacks by accepting there offer. Six years down the line, Jeremiah, now known as Joe, has been in and came up with many projects the UAC has offered. However, the ones he's involved with now seem to be a bit odd to him. And with the constant rumors and power failures, fear has crept into different crevices of his mind.

Mina let out a sigh, rounding the corner into the kitchen. She offered a nod to the men already there. "Morning, gentlemen." She let out, heading over to get herself some coffee, seeing some had already been made. So she merely grabbed herself a cup and added plenty of sugar and cream. She was obviously doing her best to maintain herself. After all, out of everyone here, she was possibly the easiest to effect.... About the sounds coming from where they shouldn't. Add this to her phobia of the dark and she could very easily freak out at the sign of a power outage, or flickering lights...

She approached the men, taking a seat and sipping her coffee. She guessed they had a conversation going, so she thought she might join it. It'd help to settle her down after the dream she had last night.

Reed said nothing as the new scientist arrived, sitting stock-still in his chair, listening. A scratching sound, coming from the walls.
"There it is again." He said quietly, his eyes scanning the kitchen for a sign of the source of the noise. Finally his eyes rested on a small metal cabinet off in the back corner of the room. Setting his coffee down, Reed slowly stood up and made his way to it. The scratching became more aggravated the closer he got. It sounded almost insectile, like some big bug skittering inside the cabinet. As he approached, his hand strayed the the pistol at his hip. Once he got within five feet he leveled the gun on the box. The noise coming from it sounded like whatever was in there was close to escaping. He looked back at the two scientists for a moment before grasping the handle firmly with his left hand while keeping the pistol trained on it with his right. The cabinet was shaking slightly, the door almost pushing against his grip. Reed took a breath and in one motion flung the door of the cabinet open and then quickly took a two-handed grip on his gun. Inside the cabinet was full of plates and cups, nothing else. Reed let out a sigh and his pistol dropped to his side before he replaced it on his hip.
"What the hell is going on here?" He asked incredulously, giving voice to what was on everyone's mind.

"Mina!" a voice shouted. The sound was dampered by the thick glass surrounding the kitchen. As the source approached the doors, which slid open with a soft 'woomf' sound, he shouted again, "Mina! Have you looked at the expiremental data we just received. I've been paging your PDA for the past hour." Jeremiah just walked past the marine, unaware of the previous event, and made it to the table where Mina and George were sitting. "The message says a copy was sent to you as well and I thought it'd be best to get to work on replicating these results." After taking a couple breaths, he realized George. "Ah, how you doing George?" Jeremiah asked with a tone more for politeness rather than actual care. The anticipation and excitement were evident and he was eager to get back to work.

"You know Dr. Betruger isn't pleased with our progress," Jeremiah started again focusing on Mina, "especially since we're two months behind schedule. But if this data is right, then we could start field testing in less than a week." Jeremiah took a seat next to Mina and laid his PDA on the table as he quickly started doing different scenarios in his head and the results seemed to please him.

Reed was a marine, and therefore had some tough nerves, but the sudden shouting that came from Jeremiah Luffin made him pivot on the spot, his hand jerking toward the pistol again. He sighed as the scientist came in and put face in his hand. The sudden incursion of the real world into the strange event that had just happened brought him back to a calmer demeanor. His brow furrowed, he ignored Dr. Luffin and picked his coffee up and took a sip before almost spitting it up. Not a minute ago when he put it down his coffee was fresh and hot out of the pot. Now it was stone cold and tasted as though it had been left out for a day and a half.
"What the hell?" He whispered angrily as he put the cup down. He looked at Black to see if he noticed anything else strange.

(((Will Xenos or someone who knows what's going on, please tell me what is happening!? I've never played any of the Doom games, so I'm a little lost. I think i'll get the jist of RP quickly, but just how exactly do I begin RPing? I mean, should I just act like I'm patrolling a lab, or be in a battle with a bunch of demon-ghosts? So someone fill me in please.)))

Mina blinked a few times, looking to Reed as he turned his head to look around at something, the quiet words he spoke making her a bit nervous. Is he hearing things right now? She thought to herself, then shook the thought from her head. As she brought up her coffee, she heard her name, turning her head to look to the side and nearly spilling her coffee before realising and quickly steadying her hand, letting out a sigh of relief before she moved her hand holding the coffee down to the table. She turned her head to look back at Joe as he walked up to her, and set down the PDA on the table. Work already, and I haven't finished my coffee yet... Though I guess this shouldn't be unexpected. We are behind...

"I guess he has reason to be upset with us being behind... And people requesting transfers off of mars aren't helping..." She let out, looking over the PDA before removing her own from her pocket, checking to see if she'd received the information as well, and let out a sigh. The damn thing wouldn't turn on. This has got to be the fifth time this' happened.... She thought to herself, opening it up and checking the batteries, which should almost never run out. She pulled out spares, since this wasn't exactly the first time it'd happened, and set them in the old one's place. "This would be why your pages didn't get through..." She let out with an irritated sigh as the thing finally turned on with the pager sound playing. She quickly stopped it and began checking through her mail for the information that was supposed to reach her. Thankfully it was there, so she began scanning over it...

"This does look promising..." She let out, looking over it all. "This is nice.... You're right, less than a week before we could get field testing done if this is all correct. How fortunate..." She then looked up to Joe. "Infact, in comparison to the other departments, ours hasn't had as much trouble with our progress. The only one that's doing better seems to be the one's working with the artifacts..." She let out, trying to make conversation while processing everything in her head, though she guessed it might be in vain. He might have already gotten lost in his train of thought...
