She nodded at his words. Aithne too, firmly believed that all things had their own purpose, and Herne had reasons, however infinate and inexplicable they may seem, for everything he did. Of course some of these happenings were harder to deal with than others, but it did not shake her belief. Life worked in mysterious ways, not always to the satisfaction of the one who was living it, but that was all part of it.
His request caught her off-guard slightly and she wasn't quite sure what to respond to that. Stay close to the herd? Well, certainly she wasn't planning on a jaunt out into the depths of the forest, or a small walk over to the Great Mountain anytime soon...but how close was 'close'? She did have a tendancy to graze closer to the outer areas of the herd, within the outriders patrol, but not exactly Home Oak either. Ah yes, Telyn had a tendancy to wander, as did she. He was sharp, she would give him that. But...the way he had said 'so much danger' seemed to insinuate that 'so much' was more danger than normal. It made her curious...Aithne wondered if he would answer outright, or perhaps she would have to weedle it out of him? Either way, it had sparked her interest.
"Well, now that you mention that I was planning on knocking out a few of the outriders before they saw me and taking a short trip over to the Great Mountain...but I suppose if you insist I could hold off for the time being." Her tone was something akin to that of a fawn reluctantly obeying her mother, but her eyes twinkled as she said it. It was in humour, or at least...it was mostly in humour. She wasn't actually planning on knocking out a few outriders and rushing over to the Great Mountain persay...but it would be a lie to think she hadn't fantasized about it on an occasion or two. Nevertheless, she respected Brychan, so she would keep in mind not to wander too far from the herd. "Especially with all the pressing danger out there right now." Aithne raised her voice just slightly at the end of a sentance, almost a question, but not quite. More of an invitation for him to speak more on it if he wished, but she understood, if not rather unhappily, that certain things were for outrider ears only.

Brychan couldn't help but laugh good naturedly at the idea of Aithne taking out a couple outriders and then running off into the wilds somewhere. That would certainly make a tale to tell for generations to come, if it was even possible. Which it probably wasn't, unless she was truely sneaky about it. Still... it painted an amusing picture. He would see Telyn doing that if given the chance.
However, he caught the inflection in her voice that seemed to be probing for more information. She was reminding him more and more of Telyn as they spoke. "I wouldn't say pressing.. but there has been some wolf activity in the past few weeks. Its been quiet recently, but that doesn't mean anything." He smiled lightly, for even if he wanted to say more.. he couldn't. If the rumor of a white wolf out there killing hinds spread, there could be a mass panic, and it was his duty to help prevent that. So he didn't go into much detail.. although Telyn probably would if asked. Brychan did tell her about it.

He laughed, and she smiled with him, secretly considering this idea. Could she knock out a few outriders? No, probably not. Not by herself anyways. And, it would surely take a few hinds at least, so perhaps it would be best to reconsider other options. Sneaking past might work a lot better...and be a lot less troublesome. Perhaps when they went to change shifts? She wondered how that worked, she would have to pay more attention the next time she saw them switching...
His voice startled her out of her thoughts, and rapidly she put on the most innocent and interested face she could muster. Ah, so wolves were the cause? Well, wolves were never a good thing, and the finality of his tone implied he wouldn't be able to say more. Which was fine with her she supposed. She would go dig around the rest of the herd and see if they knew anything. "I see, well I don't fancy the idea of being eaten, so I suppose I shall avoid any ventures outside the herd, just in case."

Brychan had a slightly dubious look on his face as she said she would avoid any ventures. Why did he not quite believe her? It was just too easy, really. And she was too much like Telyn to just leave it at that. But he wouldn't say so.
"That would be a wise choice" he agreed with a nod of his head. An ear flick and Brychan turned to look towards the borders where the Outriders stood. Oh yes. "Well, I should return to my duties, I'm afraid, but it was nice to talk to you Aithne." He would have to take care of the rest of the velvet on his antlers later. The stag then offered to touch noses with her in a friendly manner. He liked her... perhaps he would ask her to join his harem come Anlach.
