“Sadly he has a lot to do with what classes get put in. I think that that’s why my ‘How to look like you’re working while you’re actually napping’ class didn’t get passed .” He sighed dramatically. “But you never know he could just have something against napping.” Greg really shouldn’t have mentioned that name. Now he would have liked to complaine about what was happening with him and what he was threatening to do and… Well he just had to pretend some more, like he did when he was normally upset. It wasn’t that hard after all.
“You never know. If you tell someone the elongated name of their punch enough times you might bore them into punching themselves. I’m pretty sure I know a few people who could manage that. And why do you assume that I know the names anyway?” He asked, eyeing her with a smile. “I might just write them all down on my arm like I did with all that art stuff that George used to talk to me about. I could call it ‘a punch to the face’.”

Alex snorted a little. "I'm sure he's against a lot of things. I'd be more surprised if he favored or supported something." She couldn't help the small frown that formed, hugging Greg's arm. It wasn't bad enough that the guy was an elf, he just wasn't very pleasant. Or practical, in her experience, but Alex knew she wasn't the most rational creature on the planet, either.
She turned her critical gaze on Greg, pursing her lips. "'cause you're smarter than you let on, Lo-er-Greg." The woman burst into sudden laughter, some of her previous heaviness evaporating and her near slip. After her laughter subsided into giggles, she smiled warmly at Greg, patting his forearm, "You're so eloquent." Her nose crinkled in another, more recent memory. "Ugh, Oz tried to teach me formal names, I think that's why he taught me to box. 'Hook' and 'jab' aren't so difficult to get my mouth around."

Greg frowned slightly for a moment at the comment about Dante. “He’s certainly in support of telling the truth it seems. Or at least telling it when no one wants to hear it…”Really thought he shouldn’t be talking abut Dante. The Elf would probably find out some way and end up getting him expelled and sent back and in trouble for what he did and… oh and just lots of trouble.
“Well you’re smarter than you let on too, my dear, dear Alex.” He said. “I think that you would be able to teach the classes all by yourself if you so had to. Maybe I should retire to the Caribbean now before my troubles and old age catch up to me.”

"Really." The one word was dry and cynical. "Damndest thing, that he couldn't be bothered to tell me about Lina's pregnancy while we were in China. Apparently everyone knew but me, but he couldn't share that small tidbit of important information. He doesn't seem to speak what needs to be said, only what suits him." Alex frowned, her brow darkening; no, she did not like Dante. Sure, some things had to be respected, but when lives and diseases were in the balance, privacy was not a luxury they could afford. She couldn't help being bitter over the situation; none of them could have possibly known how much watching Lina be ill had hurt her...
She huffed a little, calming down as Greg complimented her. "Of course I could, but do you really want a school of mini-me's running around loose in the world?" Alex turned her amused green gaze back to Greg's face, "They're safe in your care, y'know. Old fart or otherwise, you're a good man. Besides, I'm not ready to let you go after finding you again."

“He didn’t tell me about it.” Greg said looking over at her surprised. “I hadn’t heard anything about it until now… A pregnant woman should not have been there, ever.” He said decisively. “She could have lost the baby. What was she thinking? She was being selfish and stupid and…” He sighed and shook his head, forcing his thoughts away from that idea.
“Anyway a school full of min yous wouldn’t be that bad. I wouldn’t mind havening a min you slash min Kenth running around either.” He said smirking. “Although soon I might not get a choice. Dante might see to that.”

The woman shook her head. "Don't hold it against her, Greg. I would have done the same thing, in her shoes. I don't leave things undone." Alex was going to let the subject go, until the last part of Greg's statement. "What do you mean, if Dante sees to that?" Her voice darkened considerably, and she pulled herself into a stop, holding onto Greg's arm to make him stop as well. Green eyes narrowed to a point, and her good will was gone. This was the part that very few ever saw, and in two unfortunate cases, was the last thing they ever saw.
"Just what kind of man is he, Greg? I don't want to stay here if someone has a God-complex."

Greg muttered and shrugged at her first response. She would have done the same. Bah. If Alex had done the same while pregnant he would have promptly tied her hands together and taken her back somewhere safe. He would have liked to have made Lina do that as well, but he really couldn’t change the past. It was just… They could risk their lives, they were able to make that choice, but they should make sure that they weren’t putting another persons life in undue risk because of it. Especially someone who couldn’t do anything other than sit there and go along with the ride.
He stopped and looked at her surprised when she suddenly turned so vehement. Staring at her for a moment, he shrugged and hopped that he hadn’t made her dislike Dante too much. “He doesn’t have a God-complex, Alex. It’s just…” He really, really wanted to tell her. Why else had he been dropping clues? But he also didn’t want her to go storming into Dante’s office yelling at the Elf. “He knows about… Before.” To illustrate his point he waved his hands around vaguely.”And he’s been saying that he’s going to tell people.”

It took a moment for his words to seep in; her confusion showed on her partially raised eyebrows and inquisitive eyes. "Before?" she echoed, trying to piece together what the red-head was saying. "Before...here? What--oh, you mean your name?" Alex pursed her lips, shaking her head a little. "Great. Now the boia knows more about you than I do?" That seemed to upset her more than the situation; she didn't know exactly what he was talking about, still not understanding why he was here and not back in England.
She scowled, growling something else in her mother tongue before she released his arm, sliding next to him and wrapping him in a hug. Alex rested her head under Greg's chin, not wanting him to see the rampant dislike that was so obvious in her glowering eyes. "I don't know what you mean by telling people about your name, but...more importantly..." The woman paused, shifting a little before giving Greg a squeeze within her embrace, "...what is he to you that it matters?"
The man had always acted as a guardian, a big brother to her. If someone else was giving him grief...well, ending up on the Italian's bad side never ended well for anyone involved.
((Boia is 'jerk/bad person' in Italian.))

Greg grimaced, at Alex’s confused look. ‘See? This is why you don’t tell people stuff,’ he thought. ‘You assume that they know things they don’t and then you end up telling them and making them worry and you make a big mess when you should have just stayed quite.’ He knew that he should, but Greg couldn’t help it when a smile crept onto his face as Alex tossed in that one Italian word. It was cute, and he could smile at it if he wanted… even if he shouldn’t.
“It’s a little more than just the name… He knows why I’m here, and why I shouldn‘t be here. Frankly trust you not to tell enough to tell you, if you want to know.” When Alex hugged him, Greg huggeed her back and rested his head on top of hers. As she asked her question he was glad for the change, because it was obvious that she wasn’t Dante’s biggest fan, and she didn’t need to see the way that he smiled.
“Dante’s someone that I care for… a lot.” He said quietly.

The woman grunted, irritable. "Of course I want to know! But...if you don't want to say..." Alex had a momentary inward struggle before she gave in, "...I promise I wont pry." It angered her to some degree that the pompous elf knew more about the man she had spent the better part of a year with than she did, especially given the circumstances that the year was spent under. She grumbled a little, feeling her invisible hackles raise, her skin bristling with dislike and mistrust...
And with those few words, all the rage in her died. Her shoulders slumped, her hackles laid flat and the irritation dissolved in favor of something warmer and more understanding. She was quiet for a long moment, trying to find the words, wondering what in the blazes that up-tight elf had done to earn Logan's affection, which he obviously didn't deserve. Sighing softly, Alex asked in a quiet voice, "It's the first time since then, isn't it? I can tell by your voice. I haven't heard you speak like that since before..."
She didn't need to finish her statement. They both knew what she was talking about, and to give voice to it seemed rude in the face of the man's proclaimation of fondness for the other.
Damn, but she really didn't like Dante. Now she had to be civil.

(I have a pile of Chinese flash cards that’s as big as my coke can. O_o; )
Greg simply smiled and gave Alex a little squeeze. “Yeah,” he said. “first time since. So promise me that you won’t go breaking down his door and throw him out a window at least, hm?” he chuckled. “He probably has some spell that lets him fly, but it wouldn’t be the best impression of you to make. Especially when you’re such a nice person otherwise.”
Now it was Gregs turn to lt out a little sigh. He had told Alex that he would explain to her why he was here, and he would, but it wasn’t something that he was very happy about. Nor was it something that he really wanted to tell her about. She still liked him, and he didn’t want to ruin that. He supposed that he could lie to her, but that would just be rude, and he didn’t want to start that up with her.
“As for why I’m here… I just left.” He shrugged, not really sure how else to put it. “I just got up and moved away. I changed my name, took George and left the country. Dante figured that out and threatened to tell… everyone I suppose if I didn‘t leave him alone. So I did because I don‘t want to get court marshaled and George still needs money to go to college and Kenth… well it would look bad for Kenth even if he didn’t care.”

Alex couldn't help but giggle at the idea presented. Her? Storm into someone's office and throw them out a window? Sure, she didn't like confrontation, but she wasn't above violence, either. She scoffed a little at the 'nice' comment, but let it slide, falling silent as she felt his mind and emotions shift. Slender fingers drew small circles on his back while she waited for him to speak again, content in the hug as she was certain he didn't want her to see his expression.
Just as quickly as her rage had left her, it came back, boiling with a vengence. "You care for this guy?" she asked incredulously, pulling back a little to look him in the face. "Why would he do that to you? Jesus Greg, he doesn't deserve your affection!" She voiced her previous thoughts, her eyes simmering with a cruel heat, her lips pulled tight in annoyance. It was quite amazing that she didn't wear herself out with how quickly she reacted to things.
And then he brought George into the picture, and that angry inferno hissed and simmered into a disgruntled smoldering. "Leave it to Georgie to make things difficult," she grumbled, looking more pouty than enraged. Alex took a deep breath, green eyes upon the red-head wearily. "Have you been doing this ever since I left? That's a heavy burden to bear by yourself, even with your strength and endurance." She knew he could take a lot, but...all this time...alone? The woman felt the first pains of regret since she had left ten years ago, her expression slowly dimming into something sorrowful. "I'm sorry you have to do it at all, Logan." She made sure his name was said quietly. "You've already suffered so much."

Greg sighed again, he seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and hugged Alex tighter. “I care for him because I like him. He doesn’t need to do anything to earn my affection other than be himself. After all what makes you like Kenth so much?” Unconsciously he started playing with her hair, something that had worked with calming George when he was younger. He knew that it was strange, but it was what it was.
“It’s not George’s fault that things are as they are; he’s been a good kid, and I knew what I was doing when I left. I knew what the consequences were, and I accepted them, I just…” He hugged her once more, and kissed the top of her head. Dante may not want to talk to him anymore, and Kenth may not have talked to him more than snatches since he was barely a teen, but at least he had George. At least he had her. “Don’t worry Alex. Tch I should be asking what you did while you were gone. I mean I’ll get through it, I always do somehow. I’m just glad that you’re here. Who knows, maybe you can be for Kenth for what… she was for me before?” He was a lot quieter and was essentially whispering “Wouldn’t that be great for you two?”

The woman nestled her head beneath his chin again, taking on a state of calm that was very unusual for her; in fact, she only displayed the type of sudden calm she was experiencing around Kenth. "I was poking fun at Georgie," she explained softly, squeezing him as he played with her hair. At his gentle show of affection, her eyes fluttered shut, become as docile as she was capable of. Alex listened as Greg spoke, both to his voice and the rumble in his chest, which dimmed to a soft whisper as he finished.
She remained as she was, squeezing him tighter but not letting up. "We always manage, you and I." There was a moment's hesitation - to tell him about the last ten years of her life, or not? - and moved onto the more tender subject instead. "I would like that, to be so important," she replied kindly, feeling tears threaten at the mere thought of being to the doctor what she was to Greg, "but it's not love, Logan. Certainly not on his end." Alex managed a crooked smile at that, still wrapped around him. "I'll be there until he says not to, and then..."
Her mind searched for the options, going down each avenue, before coming to the only conclusion that was suitable to her. Eyes still closed, she sighed softly. "...then I suppose I go back to life as I know it." Alex knew she couldn't stay, but it was best to wait and see what happened before she made claims prematurely.

Greg rested his lips in Alexs hair as she squeezed, once more kissing the top of her head. He could have told from the pause and the squeeze alone that it wasn’t an easy topic for her. He wouldn’t have needed to hear what she was saying. He smiled and sighed.
“Alex… I was glad when I found out that it was you that felt that way about Kenth, because you’re the only person I know that’s stubborn and strong enough to make him admit that he loves you. We both know that Kenth isn’t the most emotional person, but I think that he cares about you. After all you’re here, and he asked for you to come here. He ask specifically for you. He hasn’t run away yet, he lets you come and talk to him, he doesn’t avoid you, and he doesn’t seem to mind when you’re in the same room as him. That’s a lot for him. It may not be love like most people see it but… But I’m sure that someday he’ll admit it and call it love.” He certainly thought that it was true. After all Kenth was still here, and that was a lot more than could be said for the two of them. It was too bad Kenth was a stubborn idiot who couldn’t realize his own feelings.
“And life as you know it better involve staying here, because Kenth isn’t the only one that would miss you. I certainly would and I know that if you left I would dust off my bounty hunting gear, go find you, tie you up, and bring you back here.” He finally lifted his head and looked down at her. “I don’t want you wandering out of my life again. If it’s like last time I’ll have to wait years to find you again and when I do you’ll be half dead. By that time I’ll be so old I don’t think that my heart will be able to take it anymore. So just stay around here, for everyone’s sake. Please?”
