I took it through my pregnancy. I worked with my midwife and doulah. The recomended amounts? I forget exactly but it worked out to start with one cup a day and work up to two daily for the duration of the pregnancy. It does cause uterine contractions but in those tiny doses for a healthy pregnancy, it merely tones the uterus. In a larger dose it could be problematic. In the last 4 weeks of the pregnancy you up it to a quart a day of tea which causes your braxton hicks to kick in well preparing your body for labor. In addition the last four weeks is when they added evening primrose oil to the mix. I took one capsule daily the last for weeks to help ripen my cervix. I went into labor on my due date. So for me...it worked LOL.
