I'm going to agree with everone else with the rainbow Phoniex.
Think about this way:
A Phoniex rebiths from it ashes
A Rainbow Phoniex represents the different kinds of powers we have in this school.

Not many people know much about them and don't bother to give them much thought. I think it would make a great symbol, Always try to get the light which everyone else has abandoned as untouchable. Many die trying but no one knows for sure if all of them fail. Our powers are new and hard to control, we could easily die if we get overwhelmed. Plus when exactly do we succeed in Mastering our powers? That's us, Dancing around our power trying to get a better understanding without getting singed in t the process. Plus keep in mind tat ever animal that is famous is like that for a reason: Someone decided to give it meaning. Maybe we could give the moth it's shining moment.
