I don't mind if it has romance in it, as long as it isn't a "romance novel"... Know what I mean?

Exactly. I want a story. It is especially annoying when it is a book in a series, and the rest of the series is great. Then, they have one book that is more like a romance novel and if they just changed the character names, no one would know it was part of the series. sad

Fortunately, I have only encountered that one time.
I also don't like it when the first book of a series is awesome and then the following ones are crappy. sad That was the case with The Forbidden Game Trilogy. I can't remember who wrote it, but the first book was amazing! Then, I had to wait almost three years for the library to get the second and third books... I wish they hadn't. They were just so terrible.
Fortunately, though, most series have really good books. I don't think every book has to be AMAZING, but to only have three books and two of them are crap... that is just wrong.

oh mi gosh! I've found home!! xD
ok, sooooo there's my favorite: Shade's Children by.....ummm...crap. -looks up- GARTH NIX!!!! It's a wonderful science fictionish book. go read it xD
Hummmm I'm reading this series called "Blood Books" by Tanya Huff. It was made into a lifetime series I think, but it's one of the GOOD vampire series out there.
My friend is obsessed with Howl's moving castle, however I have yet to read it ^^ ((and it's a big deal for Ci Ci to be obessed with a book. She reads so many it must be good for her to want to read it OVER and OVER and OVER and-))

hulachowdown Some good books are those written by Tamora Pierce. They are more for young adults, well enless you are a kid that doesn't mind a bit of moderate romance( not like super graphic but still, there you know) but adults can read then too. My mom reads them too because she just adores them and the fact that the newer ones are over 400 pages is a bonus( the first ones were just over a houndred pages) HERE HERE!!!!!! 4laugh I almost forgot her!!! eek And the Claidi Journals by Tanith Lee. Amazing Series. Read all the books! >3

Omg! Anther good Vampire series would have to be the House of Night series..
You have good and evil in it and a twist of romance with some startling betrayals.
House of Night: Marked Betrayed Chosen Untamed
5th comes out in March can't wait ^-^
It's by P.C. Cast. I think you can only get this series at Barnes and Nobles though....

She reads so many it must be good for her to want to read it OVER and OVER and OVER and-)) yay for garth nix, i used to LOVE the abhorsen trilogy books. havent read them in YEARS. 'the mists of avalon' is AMAZING, i caution the severely religious when reading it... all of the redwall/mossflower books are perfect for imaginative middle schoolers.brian jacques is phenomenal. heck im 20 and i still love reading them LOL. hmmmmm. voyage of the dawn treader and the silver chair are my fav C.S. Lewis books. C.J.Sansom is a great author for those of you that are partial to the mystery novels, they are lengthy but great nonetheless, and generally set in the past, such as Henry VII's era. hm. the "pretties" series is good for middle/high age. and so is the 'a great and terrible beauty' trilogy, tho a touch dark but great fantasy novels. i only ever read one of tamora pierce's novels and it was decent, i was just to busy reading everything else to keep going. 'the seer and the sword' was a great book, again middle/high age. armageddon summer is a good find for middle/high age. the angus thongs and full frontal snogging books are HILARIOUS for high school age girls. not much in them for boys... the artimis fowl books are interesting, good fantasy books. melissa mar is a good writer too. ugh, there was another trio series that was great but i cant remember the titles or the authors sad oh well. but these are great finds..

I finished the Sword of Truth series... The last three books were extremely repetitive and could have been about one fourth of their actual length to make them better. There were only two parts of the ending that I liked, the rest was garbage. lol Such a bad ending for a series that started out so great.
