Dreamway Express I haven't watched Monk yet, but since James Roday, in my opinion, is the hottest thing on the Earth, I think I'm a bit biased. I agree!!! I got hooked on Monk first, and I think it's a good show, but Psych is awesome too, and I'll probably come to like it more as I see more episodes.

Well, the main character of Psych is WAY different from Monk. Monk is more reserved and inadvertently funny. Shawn has a naturally funny personality.

Shawn throws himself out there more and is one of those kinds of characters that cracks jokes to, er, keep things interesting for him. I'm sure without any humour Shawn would lead a booooooooooring life.

I like Psych better, but I gotta say Monk is pretty funny too. I watch both shows but I think I like Psych's less serious ways of dealing with murder and crime. But honestly who can't want to give Mr. Monk a hug? I know I'd hug him. He needs a hug rofl . There should be a Psych meets Monk cross over like they did on Disney Channel's original shows. I can only imagine the possibilities of Shawn meeting Monk and playing off Monk's germ-o-phobia mrgreen

Monk has some funny episodes but it's not as funny as Psych. The last episode was So funny!! How crazy was that runway walk!

Argh... okay so I just wrote out this nice long stupid thing and then I pressed a wrong button and lost it all. Okay then...
Basically I think everyone's kinda biased since this is a Psych guild. xd
But like Kafrine said, they are very different shows and personally, I think Monk is better (I'm the one who voted for it sweatdrop ).
Yeah, I love Psych just as much as you guys, but Monk has more complicated and seemingly more thought out storylines and episodes. I mean, I've solved a lot of the Psych cases in just these two seasons. And in five seasons of Monk? I've only solved one and a half. Big difference between the two.
Plus, Psych is mainly a comedy. And they all say Monk is too, but it really is a drama/mystery before it is a comedy. The characters in Monk and more deep and complex. Not to say that they aren't in Psych, but we don't get as much of the complexity, as of yet at least.
But personally, I think Monk is probably the better show. Besides, that would be why Tony has won... 4 and nominated 6 times? at the Emmys for playing Monk. Of course I would love to see the whole cast of Psych be nominated, but in truth, they haven't, not yet at least.
I love it as much as you guys do, but when you compare them, I personally think Monk's better.

We are just getting to learn about Shawn's issues with his parent's divorce so that's kind of complex since he's been concealing it and he and his dad didn't speak for 5 years before the pilot. I sense a LOT of bad vibes that came from the divorce. But yeah I do agree the cases are focused more on Monk and the cases that are on Psych are kinda a means to get jokes. I like Monk for the characters and the way Monk solves the cases are always fun. The cases on Monk are always unpredictable, Psych has much more predictablility but I love 'em both.

I love Psych more because Shawn makes it 10x more hilarious then Monk. Shawn doesn't have a billion phobias (besides the dislike of pointy things) and he dressed like an actual person instead of suits all the time. The characters are more humorous and in-depth (gotta love Lassie).
Also, Monk is so old. It's the same old stuff every episode and it's lost it's touch. But, I still watch both shows...

But the characters in Psych are not at all very in depth, at least compared to Monk. Sure Henry and Shawn have their problems, and occasionally Gus does to. And yeah Lassie's had an "interesting" career and has to deal with some issues (snowglobes) and everything, but thats about it for Psych. Yeah, we're probably going to get more in depth as the series progresses, but it is not at all as in depth as Monk.
And Monk is never the same old stuff because they always have something new and interesting, and something actually challenging Monk. There have probably only been one or two episodes (Sixty Five Million Years Off, Psy vs Psy) that have really actually challenged Shawn. There is just so much more to Monk than there is Psych, and yes a part of that is because Monk has been around for six seasons, but still. There is no comparison.

Yeah I totally agree. I wish there were new episodes of Psych and Monk on now I miss the new ones being on on Fridays.
