Ai shakes her head and continues to concentrate on the race, (I'm almost at the finish line... whatever energy I have, I'll focus it on my legs...) Ai uses her adrenaline to boost her speed a bit, "Almost there...!"

Just as Ai was about to win, her body jolts and falls to her knees. "...What...the..." Her demonic ebony armor becomes attached to her from instantly due to the armor's magical attatchment to her. She slowly gets up looks at Laharl while catching her breath and getting her guard up, "..Do you feel something...?"

Ai nods, "Y-yes... My armor tends to attach itself to me if I'm too far from it... That, and when it senses anything that may prove to be malicious and harmful to me..." Ai's armor crackles slightly with a crimson and deep purple sparks as it did when the Wraiths attacked them.

A couple of loud 'thump' noises can be heard coming from behind the two.
A pair of Gargoyles start to fly and sweep at them with their claws.

"What the bloody hell...!?" Ai quickly jumps out of the way of the gargoyle's way and curses at them while looking down at the ground, making sure she doesn't look into their eyes, "Damn it!! Laharl!! Watch out for the other one coming at you! And don't look into their eyes or they'll paralyze you!!" Ai unsheaths her sword and casts a spell called Darkness, "This is a blind fight now..." The area that they are in now has a veil of darkness cast over it, though they can't be paralyzed by the gargoyle's sights, they only have a 50 % chance of hitting their targets, leaving everyone relying on sound rather than sight.

"Not fake, it's the very same spell as certain creatures of darkness can use!" Ai hears a gargoyle coming at her from behind again and swings her broadsword at it, managing to break one of it's wings off.

Ai yells at Laharl, "No!! Don't use it! I'll take care of them myself if I need to but please, don't use your Arcana Gun...!!" Ai attempts to thrust her sword into the same gargoyle but misses.

Both gargoyles sense the strong aura coming from Laharl and chase after him, his aura makes them believe he is the bigger threat.

"No!" Ai senses the gargoyles heading towards Laharl, she quickly runs back into the area filled with darkness. With her left hand, she casts a fire spell over the gargoyles, "Hell's Inferno!" A giant pillar of fire errupts below the two charging gargoyles infront of Laharl, burning them and causing them to be thrown back a little. " There...Now you have time to use your Arcana gun..." Ai kneels down recovering from using a stroner spell of hers that she hasn't cast in quite some time.

Ai nods and watches him blast both gargoyles away. "...That blast almost took out both... Time for me to finish the other one off!" Ai darts toward the remaining gargoyle. She jumps into the air and delivers a vertical strike of pure dark energy at the gargoyle, "Bye bye~!" The gargoyle crumbles into dust.

"Ha... That wasn't too bad!" Ai picks up the spoils and gathers them in a small pile, then calls Laharl over, "Hey, Laharl! The gargoyles were kinda loaded! Look!" She shows him the loot, "We'll split it up!"
