She looked up, pulling away slightly, wondering who the man was, slightly afraid "There where a veryfew that survived, such as Keri at the Moons Cafe, she was in the land of day when it happened, as for me, I was in the forest with a protector." she whispered, pulling away until she hit the wall. Not liking the man, she changed to her wolf form and walked over to Skeksys, laying down next to him he eyes on the new young man, but her soft voice intruding into Skeksys mind so only he could hear her. "It was the most beautiful thing in the world, so peaceful, no fihts ever broke out, and everyone was welcome, no matter who or what the where, but I will tell you more later, we have a guest."

Terry smiled, though his green eyes scanned the two with curiosity both of them were more then they seemed but he couldn't place what it was. "My name is Terry Emerald and I was sent by a organization called the Covaneant to help turn and then keep this city as peaceful as it was before it was destroyed." he offered his hand to which ever would accept it.

Skeksys stood again out of respect. Had the man not offered his hand, Skeksys would have stayed sitting. Taking the proffered hand, he shook it firmly.
"I am Skeksys and although I am not employed by anyone, our business seems to be the same." He introduced himself. His stance was protective though, a clear warning that he was ready for a fight even though there didn't seem to be one even close to happening. What he was protecting was not the city in this case though, it was Venesa. He felt he had found someone as alone as he felt and would not allow any harm to befall her.

Vanesa stood, still in her wolf form, her back comign to Skeksys' hip and set a paw in Terry's hand, she could run faster in her wolf form, and didn't want to change. She could also fight better, and she woul stay to protect Skeksys, though she hardly knew him, they where he same, and needed eachother. "I am Vanesa." she said with a soft growl, it was a difficult technique to speek in animal form, but she had learned in the woods during the attack

Ok so that explains one, thought Terry. He smiled, "well it has been nice meeting the two of you but I do have a job to do, damsels in distress, maybe a ant is hanging off a roof's edge, who knows but a job's a job." with that he turned looking at the designs of the buildings took to the rooftops.

Skeksys watched the man go and sighed.
"He seems interesting enough, not someone I will have to watch and he'll probably help with things around here but I can't help wondering why I feel slightly uneasy about him." He thought aloud. He turned to Vanesa and knelt down so that he was looking into her eyes instead of looking down at her.
"I'm sorry if this offends you, but, what are you actually?" He asked curiously.

She sat, dropping her head and speeking into his mind "I'm am nothing more then a wolf shapeshifter. I was a small child during the attack, it was Sera a fox shapshifter and woodland protecter that found me, she taught me how to speek into others minds, as I am doing now. I am part wolf, therefor I have the mind of a wolf, but the intelegence to do other things humans do, such as keep from attaching humans or anything not an animal."

Can you read minds as well?" Skeksys thought. If she could read, then she would answer.
"What happened to the other two that saved you? And is it difficult to control your instincts?" He asked, both questions with clear curiosity in his voice.

"Yes, I can read minds when I wish, and Sera was the only one to rescue me, I met Keri shortly after she returned from the land of day. Sera taught me very well to controle my insticts, but people don't think that way anymore, that don't want to believe that is posible for me to act human in a wolfs body." she curled up on the ground, facing the wall, waiting for him to leave her as every other person had.

Skeksys sat against the wall again and reached over, putting his hand behind her ears. He started to scratch there absent-mindedly, not forgetting that she was a shape shifter but remembering something else, his ability to connect with animals.
"You don't have to worry about me." He said, sensing her discomfort but not knowing exactly what it was about. He stopped the scratching abruptly as he came back to his senses entirely.
"I hope you don't find the scratching demeaning or anything." He said cautiously and apologetically.

she turned as his hand stopped "No not at all, it felt good." she nudged his hand with her muzzle. It had been relaxing and comferting, saying he wouldn't just drop her off somewhere and leave her to herself again. "Your different then the others, Your not afraid of me, I like that."

He allowed his hand to find the spot again and start to scratch. He remember that as a boy he used to do this to puppies and most of them would fall asleep to it.
"It takes a lot to scare me, the difference is I don't fear my own fear. I cultivate it, manipulate it and use it to make me stronger, to inspire me to become stronger. Although you don't scare me. No matter what or who you are one should be given a chance to prove themselves." He explained at length, seemingly speaking to the wall.

She stared at him a moment surprised by his words. She turned back to her human form and hugged him tight "Thank you." she whispered, a new hope spreading through her

He hugged her back, letting the silence speak for him. He was truly happy for the first time in a long time and she was not the only one who had a new hope engulfing her. He now had hope that maybe there was a point to his 'protection' of the city. Maybe this was proof that people would be able to see through the outer shell and start accepting one another again.
He put his hands on her upper arms and pushed her back slightly once the hug was done. "There is no need to thank me for the way I am. Just be happy that we found each other."

she nodded understanding what he ment "It's just, that it's so rare anymore, to find someone who accepts others. Everyone is so distrusting anymore. Do you want to hear of the City before?" she siled, her eyes growing wide the strength thoughts of the old city brought through her.
