I think he did maybe. Because it was obvious in New Moon that he loved her. Then it became more obvious in Eclipse. Like, remember Embry.. Yes Embry, he liked a girl before he was turned into a werewolf? Then he really did imprint her after his transformation was complete. Was it Embry? I dont rememberrr. x.x Well anyways. You get my point.

Ok, my theory is this.
Jacob DID imprint on Bella. And he TRIED to win her over. But Bella would rather be with Edward, and I think Jacob realized that. So he did what he knew would make her happiest, and let her go.
And imprinting doesn't KEEP whoever was imprinted on from leaving. It's just, with that level of devotion, why would they WANT to leave?
(I think that was explained in Eclipse, but I could be wrong.)
(Ms. Meyer is going to explain a LOT in her next book, Breaking Dawn)

I can't believe I overlooked this thread...
The answer: Jacob did NOT imprint with Bella. It was never mentioned whether he was lying or not in Eclipse, which brought up concern, but when Stephenie Meyer attended an event, she stated that Jacob wasn't lying, and he has not met his imprint partner yet.
First video of the interview
Someone asks the question in one of the three parts to the video, so just watch it all the way through if you haven't and please tell us which part it is.

i knd of thought that at first but if he was then she wouldn't be able to leave him. like how Emily can't leave Sam. it's for both of them he can't be imprinted on her and her not on him.

yeah i totally agree with what you said. if he had imprinted bella wouldnt be able to be without him. besides. the book says that he didnt.

No i dont think he imprinted on her because all the others who where imprinted on had the same strong feelings toward there imprinter.
