So, explain to me.. because I've got another friend in Quebec too, and her story puzzles me. You have to attend college before university? You cant enter straight out of grade school?

Alright you do 7 years of elementry school. [Kindergarden and grade 1-6]
Then you do 5 years of high school. [Secondary 1-5 (grade 7-11)]
Then you have a choice: 1. You do 2 years of Cegep/College. Different word, same meaning. Then go to university.
OR
2. You do 3 years of cegep. Then you can find a job.
You can NOT go to university without going to college/cegep.

And I don't know why you didn't go in IB at PC. Grade six teacher told my parents I should. They spoke to me and I heard "more work".
I didn't like that idea. :B

Very different. We have high school from 10-12. (Prior to that is junior high, elementry, etc.)
I think what you have installed is better, though. Namely because grade twelve was just an extension of the previous grades, and in NO way prepares you for the degree of work at university. Whole different ball game. That you guys have a college requisite instead of the 12th grade is awesome.
Should be mandatory across the country.

I don't like the fact that the education is different everywhere. It's kind of not fair.

I guess it's back to this... -_-;; Kiwih Guess who's back to the Canadian guild!?
I AM! Yaaay.
Hi Veelah. <33
VAAALLLLL!!! =DDDDDD    !!!! Kiwih Aw it's all the same people as this summer. wink I miss this place terribly. It really is all the same people. The place never dies ~ that's what I love about it. Deimos Scholarly writing tends to be complex. That's not my complaint. It's long, extensive and typically mingled with some strong vocabulary and intellectual rhetoric. That's fine. But when a student tries to replicate and write in anything remotely abstract? We're bashed into the ground and given a huge, bleeping red.. ?
Oh maaannn. That one's familiar. We learned last year how to look deeper into books and poems and such, to find symbolism and meaning. We had this absolutely amazing teacher, Mrs. Martella. You could tell she loved what she did, and I'm sure she could have easily taken on a job as a Cegep or University teacher. She was just that good. And this year we get a very regular, elementary-school-type teacher who writes with bubbly letters and gives out stickers if you do your work (I haven't gotten a sticker since October). Kiwih I am horrible in english. That's why I might go to a french college. I understand better in french.
But I really don't know what I want to do later on. I have to hurry because next year is my last year of high school. You are not horrible in english. But are you seriously planning to go to a french Cegep? I'm considering Edouard-Monpetit, because of how easy it would be to get there in the morning (I'd just go with my parents). We could stop off and pick you up, too. =D Kiwih I don't like the fact that the education is different everywhere. It's kind of not fair. Teeheeee, I love confusing people. "*Siiiigh* I can't wait until Cegep... *_* " "Say what?"

=S Val, that's not known to be a very good Cegep. My mum taught there for a year or two. I don't think she liked it much...
*Sigh* I have no idea what I want to do. I think I'd like Psychology. But I'd also like to be a lawyer (and that's probably something I'd be pretty good at).
I'd also like to be House. I'd just have to up my IQ a couple hundred points...
Oh, bee tee double-you. Adrian found a stray cat and brought it home. o.o; It's sitting on my desk next to me. Kinda cute... for a cat.

Covered in Fur Cegeps don't give two shits what program you were in in highschool. :] The Cegeps themselves don't, but the teachers do. In tough programmes where a lot of work is required, a teacher can hand pick the students who were in IB / at a private school within the first few days of class, from how the student responds to the work.
