Sergio had known what to expect coming to Hogwarts. His brother had gone there as did his parents, and his cousins were also attending school with him. He was aware that both Corin and Sakura were in Slytherin which was exactly where he planned on being. After all he was a Devereux. The train ride was boring as ever. He mostly was left to his own devices, his cousin checked in once probably due to being prefect. It didn’t matter to him much. Sergio didn’t need the company.
Arriving on the platform, Sergio was dressed in his robes ready for the journey ahead. He took the boat across the lake and was led to the great hall. Professor Clarke who was apparently Head of Hufflepuff laid out the guidelines for the four houses. Mentally Sergio scratched off the one’s that didn’t apply, thinking solely of being in the house of green and silver. Entering the great hall, Sergio looked around the room. All eyes were on them, and he began to ponder why half of them cared. Was it because they were hoping for new house mates? He doubted it to be honest. Chances were none of them cared. The quicker they got through this the sooner they could all get to dinner.
Hearing his name being called, Sergio straightened himself and walked up to the stool. Taking a seat, he waited for the sorting hat to be placed on his head. ‘All Devereux’ belong in Slytherin… I see no reason to make an exception.’ He thought to himself. What Sergio didn’t know was just how wrong he was. After all the Sorting Hat had sorted several Devereux’s outside of Slytherin.

■ CURIOUSSergio likes to hear the views and opinions of others. Though he won’t outright ask necessarily. He takes in what others have to say around him to build his own theories. He has a need to understand the logic behind things and rarely leaves it to a face value answer. Drawing his own conclusions his curiosity makes him insightful and innovative, but it also makes him unable to let a simple answer be. ■ ANALYTICALTruthfully, Sergio’s need to listen and further understand is not because he necessarily cares. No, he wants to further understand that which he does not, to have a better idea on what he has to work with. Though he usually has ulterior motives when draw interest, he can at time be genuinely interested. Some might say he’s calculating, due to wanting to know how he can use it to get himself further. Though, it is more a desire to understand the pieces on the board in order to be several steps ahead. ■ AMBITIOUSStriving for what one wants is very much the Devereux thing. So, it comes as no surprise that Sergio is also very ambitious in his pursuit for what he desires. He’ll do whatever it takes to make things happen for himself. Even if his desire isn’t exactly wealth or power, he’ll ensure that he has the knowledge that other people don’t. After all knowledge is power more often than not. If work is required he isn’t afraid to put time into it. ■ STUDIOUSIf Sergio can avoid avoidable mistakes and remain informed as to not be caught off guard, he’ll make sure of it. He takes to studying books and people. Not because he’s a bookworm but because he has a desire to learn and understand systems unfamiliar to him. Sergio will look for further detail into topics far past the bare minimum required. He won’t flaunt this knowledge but he will save it for further down the road, when it is needed. This also comes at a cost when making decisions, as he tends to look for further answers even when not required. ■ STUBBORNSergio always does things his own way. Even if that way leads him to the same conclusion, as someone else. He can come off as being stubborn and at times difficult due to testing the boundaries. Forming his own ides, he tends to stick with them first and foremost. Though that does not mean he can’t be swayed toward a different plan of action.

There was nothing to worry about, she repeated to herself. Margo twirled her soft blonde hair to soothe her anxiousness. She could hear her mother’s voice, “If you keep bothering it, you’ll make it more frizzy, or worse, you’ll go bald!” so the tiny first year pressed her hands together, stopping her worst habit and took some deep breaths as the first years crossed the lake. Margo felt the nerves build, but taking in the sight of the castle converted every cell in her body into pure excitement. Life was about to start!
Margo’s smile felt permanent as they all scurried into the castle. There wasn’t any time to sightsee, as they were the main event to start off the new school year. Margo's oldest brother told her the Sorting Hat was a tradition, an embarkment into becoming the best witch or wizard you could be. Her family didn’t express any pressure on her House placement, and reiterated it about ten times as they all waved her and her cousin off at the Train Station. Her parents survived the Sorting Hat, her sister survived the Sorting Hat, and her brothers survived the Sorting Hat. She will survive the Sorting Hat... The concept of a giant mouth placed on your head was much more terrifying when you lingered too long on it.
She watched intensely as each first year walked up to the chair. Margo wasn't at all afraid of eyes on her, but something about her name being called made her heart sore to the occasion. She didn't speak to the Hat, she already imagined how wormy it might feel going into her brain- like one of the horror films her sister watched constantly. Maybe it didn't feel like anything at all! It was probably the second one- no one had screamed during their turn. If she thought about nothing at all, maybe it wouldn't know how terrifying it was to her...
