I gather up my reckless determination, and gulp. I unlock the door with magic, and hide under the covers. Mizuho flies in and begins gibbering in a strange language. I reply quickly and hide deeper under the covers. She pulls off the covers, and then gasps. I am covered in discolored fur, like an animal suffering from an ailment. I give a great wailing sob, "It's the sickness Mom told me about! I can't believe I didn't sense it coming!" I dive under the covers and sob.

I sniffle from under the covers. "You can't heal it, it'll have to take it's toll and hope it doesn't wipe me out. It affects special demons and canines of all kinds who have been in contact with magical creatures recently. Like Mizuho...the only good thing will be that I'm gaining my true animal form from this." I mumble something, and then I burst out angrily, "I should've known! A few days ago I saw some wolves running through the forest into the mountains!" My dog nose twitches, and then I turn to Vazh, sitting up, stunned. "Hello?!" I clutch a tuft of discolored white and normal brown fur. "This could kill me!" Mizuho hugs me round the neck.

*My face becomes really worried and then I put an arm around her trying to comfort her.* I might not be able to cure it, but maybe I can lower the symptoms. We have the best infermary in the village and I'm pretty good with herbal medicines.

"Alas, there is no cure. It's been caught by everyone directly in my mother's line. It's just like a trial to see if I'm worthy of true animal powers." I lean on Kuroi. "Besides, if anyone tries to heal me in any way, as my mother describes, it'll just come on harder with worse side-effects."

"My side hurts and I've got a horrible taste in my mouth and-" I cut myself off, and lift Mizuho onto the bed quickly. I jump up and run to the tissue box. I hold one up to my mouth, and I taste blood as I cough. "Uhh...." I groan. Then I collapse to the ground, unconscious.
