Calin merely shrugged. "She wouldn't do that to me, Xe. She likes me too much." He let Lynx do the talking since he knew a lot more than he did anyway and he'd been fending off her questions for entirely too long. He couldn't help but sneak in a snide, "Is that why you're so quick to go running to the b***h?"
"Sounds like breeding to me." Becca was definitely not afraid to speak her mind. A certain sire if you will, handpicks the one they choose to turn to cultivate the same qualities in their own blood and pass them on. It's just like breeders do when they're looking for thoroughbreds." She listened to all Lynx had to say though her eyes did widen when he demonstrated the effect of silver on their skin. She'd always thought crosses hurting vampires was ridiculous since it was just an object but this cross was indeed silver. She adored silver jewelry. "Would the same effect be achieved with white-gold?" That would solve the jewelry problem.
"What about during the day? I know you can't go out but do you have to sleep or can you stay up and do things inside as long as it's dark? There are so many different versions of the tales...some say that you sleep the sleep of the dead and some claim that you must lie in dirt in order to survive. The dirt of your homeland is the most potent and healing. Others claim that you can fly at whim and control everyone with your minds. What's the real line between myth and truth?"
-------- "We will do whatever you wish to be done Mr. Jones. Make no mistake that your family's safety is as important to us as it is to you. And not only because of the deal hanging in the balance." She cleared her throat for a moment before continuing. "Enough mortals have suffered and died horrendously because of this war. I do not intend there to be anymore. Your family will be moved to a place of your choosing by the end of next week and in return you will pass along the information you have recieved. Do we have an accord?"

Lynx rubbed his temples wit his hands.
"white gold is fine. But I don't think you entirely grasp what happens. it's not 'breeding'. it's a sire childer relationship. like parent child. until you are deemed well enough to survive on your own, what you do lays at your sire's feet. They take the punishment. and you cna imagine that the phrase 's**t rolls downhill' applies here as well. being a vampire means you can be put through things that would kill or cripple a mortal without a care about it."
Lynx got himself up, and took Becca's hand lightly.
"I could break every bone in your hand, and then twist those bones and turn your hand into something that looks like hamburger. for you now, that woudl destroy your ability to use this hand for the rest of your natural life, and probably cause you pain everyday. as a vampire, your body will natural readjust itself over a night or so, also painfully, so that if I was still pissed, I could break it again. you can and will be able to endure pain that a mortal wouldn't. Ask Xearus about Darvien Adrik's punishment tactics for a more detailed accounting."
letting go of her hand and settling back down, layuing her cross on the table.
"during the day a vampire is sluggish. lethargic. only ancients, like myself, or vampires under fatal stress circumstance, like being faced with fire or sunlight, can do much more than move at a sloth's pace. the legends abuot our graves or dirt from our homelands is not true. neither are the things about running water, or not being able to enter a home unless with permission. So can fly, but not many. and not for great distance."
then a lean forward.
"Lets say I allow you to be embraced. what would you suggest we do to make sure your family never knows what has happened to you?"
"We have an accord. Now...care to have a drink? or will you be leaving now to account to the lord?"

Calin was duely grabbed by the shirt and roughly tossed over the back of the couch so that he would smack into the ground, all within a blink of an eye. Calin learned to shut his mouth on it and Becca got a demonstration. "You don't know the circumstances to that, you don't have the right or authority to comment on it, peanut galley. How many time must I throw you off or down things to get that through your thick skull?" It was a touchy thing for him.
But his attention wained to Lynx as he mentioned Darvien. "Yes Becca I know you have a morbid streak but please I would prefer you not ask me suuch questions...they make me crazy. Crazy vampires...not a good thing." Personally he didn't think she'd do it and leave Ami. Most vampires he had known had been last born or only children in thier families.

Calin hissed angrily and fisted his hands but he merely vaulted over the back of the couch. It was insulting to have such a thing done in front of Becca and Lynx but he knew better than to sulk or fight Xearus on it. "Maybe if you told me," he shot back. "Although Thalia told me she could be quite persuasive. She just offered you a deal you couldn't refuse."
She barely batted an eye when Calin was thrown over the back of the couch. "You deserved that." Then back to the subject at hand. "I didn't say it was breeding, Lord Blackrose, I merely said you made it sound that way. I'm well aware of how a vampire is made. There are few tales that don't at least show a glimmer of the truth. Such nonsense about one bite doing it, that would make the least bit of sense after all." She listened but her eyes never once widened though she did have to squelch the need to yank her hand away when he talked of physically harming her. "Calin has told me a time or two." That was all she was going to say to that. Lord Blackrose might not appreciate the younger vampires being so free with humans, after all. "Mmhmm, and just how old are you Lynx?" Of course she went quiet for a moment. "I have no family except my sister. She's too young to be turned though...perhaps she could be thralled for a few years?"
-------------- A rather sweetly seductive smile tilted Thalia's lips and she nodded. "Contrary to what you might believe Mr. Jones, I do not account to the lord. I tell him what I feel he needs to know." she intoned with a slender raise of one shoulder. "As it is, it's ben a while since a suave gentleman invited me to share a drink so I daresay I would be far too impolite to refuse. Of course drinking with a pirate might not be such a good idea, no?"

"No."
Lynx shrugged lightly.
"You stay with people. wether you consider them family or not, they are legally responisble for you. your sister is not to be thralled, I won't have that, because siblings in such situations tend to get too close. You don't know the power of the blood. and a mortal can't really be told how it is."
A slight smirk.
"I'm a little over nine hundred. Oh and don't feel intimidated. if you want to argue with me feel free."
Jones only smirked lightly.
"Lynx Blackrose has never been, and I imagine never will be, on a 'need to know' basis. I imagine he knows more than you might first wager."
A slight chuckle, before getting himself up and opening the office door.
"drinking with a pirate is not dangerous. it's the deals and bargains struck while drinking or after drunk that are."

He clenched his fist and turned where he sat before standing on the couch to look over the back of it and thus at Calin. "Don't think you're too big for me to give a healthy dose of hurt to. I told you, you don't know what you're talking about and you don't need to know. I doubt you would understand anyway." Fur bristled anyone?

Calin merely glared at him. Nope, still wasn't happy with the situation at all. "I suppose you're going back soon huh?" Not said in a sarcastic or mean manner, merely curious.
Becca snorted. "Trust me. Those who 'take care of me' wouldn't care if I up and disappeared one day or not. They would be overjoyed and merely take to abusing my sister." She frowned slightly and then nodded, "I suppose that makes sense. She really only got interested in vampires because I did but I think she's cultivated her own interest over the years. I have no doubt that she'll want to be embraced in a few years herself. Of course I could go find another vampire who'd be willing to embrace me for a minor service...." Testing him? Why yes, yes she was. One eyebrow quirked over his response and she nodded. "Mindreader. I do remember you mentioning that Lord Blackrose."
---------------- Thalia smirked, "I'm well aware of my fiancees less than savory methods of getting such information. I know he knows everything that I know which is why I don't feel the need to tell him most things. Why repeat what he already knows?" She stood and followed him. "What do you have for me my fine pirate? Remember, I'm French," she said with a wink.

"you're young, even for a mortal. you don't know the effect your disappearance would have."
Lynx chuckled lightly.
"What service do you possibly think you could offer? hmm? money? we don't need it. Servitude? you wouldn't be able to stand it. being a blood doll? you'd not survive it, mentally. hell most that know exactly what they are getting into can't mentally survive it."
leaning forward some.
"A blackrose might. but unlikely. adrik probably would, but you, I don't think..woudl want to be little more than a slave for a few centuries. becuase we don't deal in timeframes as small as years or months. we deal in decades and centuries. think you would want to be some vampires little b***h for anything thier mind concieves for ten, fifty, or more likely a hundred or so years? and your sister isn't to know about us. and i am deadly serious. I find out that your school sudden has a cult in it that knows things they shouldn't I'll arrange for a series of accidents. and some immortals who best learn to keep thier mouth's shut will be part of that group."
Davy gave a slight chuckle.
"this is a pirates bar. we have whiskey, rum, more rum, and other hard liquors. I'm afraid wine isn't something you find here."

He listened for the sarcastic tone or anything of the sorts from Calin, but when he only got curiosity he calmed himself some, convinced he didn't have to beat him to a pulp just this moment. "Eventually before sunrise." Crossing his arms lightly and then slipping down back on the couch to sit comfortably as Lynx continued on.

Calin nodded sullenly and went back to studying his hands. Damn Xearus. He knew better than to think anything with Lynx in the room. THat was just asking for trouble.
"There would be an uproar for precisely five days. That's long enough for me to be pronounced a missing person and have the police out looking for me. When no trace can be found they'll determine the case unsolvable and leave it until new evidence comes up. I know how these things work. THe only way the police department will leave it open is if my 'guardians' press the issue and they won't. My little sister might but they would shut her up fairly quickly."
"You may not need money but that doesn't mean others wouldn't like to have it. Not all in their immortality have become as rich as you Lord Blackrose. But I would only let a handful of vampires embrace me you can be sure of that." Her gaze went to Calin for a moment and she shook her head. "My school is full of all sorts. Wannabes mostly, posers as their called nowadays. They know nothing of the real thing and I don't intend to share my secrets. This is like a secret treasure for me. The only one I would share with is my sister and that would merely be to have her embraced as well. I will not leave my sister alone and defenseless in this world, Lord Blackrose. It's too full of wolves and she's nothing but a lamb."
------------------- Thalia appraised the bottles with a jaundiced eye. Give me a taste of Jack. He has always gotten me through."

Lynx leaned back some.
"Is that so. the person in charge of you is a given caretaker. it's his job to see you are kept alive and well and relatively safe. it's what he gets paid for by other people who want you taken care of. Losing you woudl severely cripple his chances of keeping your sister, adn thus his employment, and thus that nice house and his income. while he may not have a great concern over your personal well being, he does know a meal ticket when he sees one."
Then a small smile.
"Vampires deal in cash. only ones as old as myself, or perhaps Xearus, have any use for banks or the like, as they require information not easily gotten for those younger. any vampire seeking to embrace you knows that you are competition. your in thier playground, not mine. you're going to be fighting tooth and nail for that little apartment or house, not me. Just like in the wild kingdom, there's a food chain. vampire's my age have the power, the finance, the ability to blend into high society, or get into places younger vampires can't. those are my hunting grounds. the streets are yours."
Then Lynx got himself up, and walked over to a bookcase, and pulled out a book that looked like, and probably was, written centuries ago, adn walked over and set it on the table.
"this contains all the names of my mortal family, and all my decendants through to about the late eighteen hundreds. not one of them knew what I was. not even those who are at present Elders in cities all over the globe, know my relationship to them. Darvien Adrik and Thalia are an exception, not the rule. your sister couldn't know what you are until after she's turned, and even then it's not always advisable."
settling back down, taking a glass of blood and draining some of it.
"I have seen this before. and only rarely has it not happened like this. you reveal yourself. she, at least for a little while, is enamoured with your new condition. you have to do things to make sure your safe. you have to kill, to hunt, to hide yourself from daylight. then will come the deals. she'll help you for blood, at first. to be ghouled. technically thralls are those that you put under mental command to a point were they see you as thier master no matter what. ghouls are the blood tainted mortals."
"She'll love the boost of power she'll get. and she'll want more. give a few years, she'll be so addicted that she'll want it every night. the need to feed on you will be as strong as your need on mortals. the killings, the secrets, they will wear on her. she'll demand immortality to keep your secrets. and when you can't give it...she'll either try to take it over your ashes, or we'll have to arrange an accident before she does something or says something to put us all in danger."
Draining the rest of his glass.
"So lets try again, what would be your plans reguarding your sister if you have to keep her in the dark."
Davy just chuckled, and got the glass of jack for her, and the bottle, and rum for himself.
"So what are your plans for the evening, Miss Blackrose?"

Little smartass Xearus had to comment on mr. caretaker...or Jonathan rather. "He likes to use shot guns to keep adolescent males away from the young maidens." Giving a snort and a snicker over that, tossing back a mouthful of blood from that flask he had. It was indeed interesting to sit there and listen to what Lynx talked about. After all, for those that were turned against thier will, they never heard such things.

"He's rather delusional really but only doing his job. Truthfully I don't think he'd even notice if I left nor would my elderly uncle. We are just another place at the table, another mouth to feed and another body in the house to cause dust and particles to gather."
Her eyes widened slightly as she glanced at that book and shook her head but chose not to comment. Talk about an illustrious family tree. Becca was silent for a while and then she shrugged. "You know Ami would be just fine without me. I would merely write her a note saying that I finally went off to chase a dream. She'll assume it has something to do with the music industry and be just fine with it. I'd like to keep an eye on her though if that's possible. She manages to get herself into loads of trouble. You helped in that respect." Glaring at Xearus.
------- Thalia shrugged. "I don't really know. Barhopping doesn't sound like much fun this evening and I don't much feel like doing anything strenuous." She shot her drink then slapped it down for a refill and shot that one too. "I as going to go meet with someone but I think I'll clear off my social calendar and just head back home. You were my main objective this evening and I've fulfilled it beautifully. Besides, I have a family to make disappear..."

Lynx watched her a moment.
"you're very flippant about your needs. they change with the wind...as long as you get what you want, I imagine you'd agree and tell me anything I want to hear. how old are you? sixteen to eighteen maybe? I don't mean it as an isult, merely a curious question."
getting himself another glass, offering something to Becca. mosr of a sugar and syrup kind of thing. didn't taste back, but was semi-viscous, much like blood. another small test of the girl's percieved readiness for this little endeavor. so far she wasn't scoring very good.
