A NBR worker whispered something into her ear. Riyoku nodded blandly, then on impulse, reached for her rifle. A second impulse made her draw back, this task didn't require a rifle, she wasn't going to do any sniping and it was long and awkward. Checking to make sure the twin X-15s on her hips were fully loaded and functional, she put on a long black coat and a pair of sunglasses many perfects would wear, then exited through enterance C. The memo the worker handed her said that it was a retrieval... and the target was only about a mile or two away. Good... with a few cuts and luck, she should get there in no longer than 15 minutes.

By now, he was sitting underneath the desk, absent poking at a wad of gum stuck underneath the desk. He could never get the formula to work out right, and he grew tired of trying.

Where the hell are you guys? Could you be any slower...

Again, he heard the faint whisper
[you're not a child you never were you know that and you still don't get it stop being such--]
of the voice in his head.

Riyoku reached out to tap him on the shoulder. Her eyes plainly said 'I know you' but her lips made no movement. Her hand beckoned for him to follow. The formulas caught her eye, she skimmed it in a glance and showed just the slightest sign of intrest and happiness in her eyes before the light died.

"Come." Riyoku said to him, and started away.

"Just hope you're not as noisy as you are when you're underground." He seemed to fade from under the desk to her back. He held his right hand up, palm open. He turned and mouthed "Wait." His left hand went down. Two fingers extended, then a ASL "R". Two clones, probably armed.

Riyoku nodded, then walked silently towards the door, and vanished suddenly. Her eyes trained on a suspicious portion, and calculated. Underground short cut half a block to the right. To get past undetected, the best thing to do would be to wait. There was no luxury of time... so the second best--a diversion. Magnesium diversion grenades were always good distractions. Then there was how to throw it without detection. Night would've made it easier.

The girl returned next to him with the same silent suddeness and handed him a magnesium grenade. Her eyes allowed a questioning detail, he was intelligent enough to understand.

He smiled and nodded as he took it. Again, there was that strange illusory blurring of vision as he glided over to the door way. Now he was on the floor. He pulled the pin of the flashbang silently, ever so silently.

He counted off the seconds. 7...6...5...4..3..2...
The he rolled it out the door, one ear on his shoulder, the other with a hand clapped over it, and his eyes tightly shut as the flashbang exploded. He vanished outside with his switchblade, dashing from one clone to the other, dispatching them with a quick thrust to the kidneys and through the heart. The intense pain made it impossible to shout out and alert fellow clones. All in all, it took barely over eight seconds.

He searched their pockets and found what he was looking for. Two transmitters encased in silver shells. He threw them some five hundred yards away. "These bodies won't be found for quite a while, at least a few hours. We have time," he said as he walked back in. "They'll suspect and they'll search; they'll never confirm. Trust me on that."

"First NBR dispatch terminated." She told him and motioned for him to hurry up. Riyoku dashed through the most indescreet of spots, vanishing entirely at times. She was pretty fast for someone under five feet, but it was easy for him to reach her speed.

He slid through the narrow alleys of the former black ghetto, noting the small marks in the wall that former retreivals had used. This path had been used too long. He went inside one of the rundown apartments, pausing, waiting for the girl to catch up. He opened the back door, left his own mark, an infinitesimal scratch at the bottom of the door. No doubt she would see it.

Riyoku followed his path and accelerated when she realized he was nearly twice as fast as she was. Eventually she caught up to the door, and felt a cold sensation running down her neck. "Summon 17.2..." She whispered, calling up Ryuthe, the black winged cat creature in her gate. "Signal if late..." The cat nodded and flew through the door way.

She led a different path down another hall where she knew there was another path.

"No problem at all! As long as you don't shoot me!" Belg let out a deep, booming laugh, typical of those as big as him. Crossing the threshold into the clean room, he casualy grabbed a random pistol by the barrel and handed it to KP. "Here I'll set up for you."

Belg stretched out a palm, opening his gate. The energy that poured through him stung, a sign that he still wasn't all healed. Hus faithful familiar Nakt appeared, rolling into the firing range and erecting targets in every direction. Not too hard to hit, though. She was still coming out of the infirmary, no need to strain her. Belg grinned and the giant metal beast returned to the gate, and he lowered his arm. It hurt less than it did last time... I guess it was in improvement.

"There we go! Go crazy! Not too crazy though!"

A smile didn't form unto her lips seeing the gate, instead she held the pistol firmly by the handle in both hands with both eyes open. "You're gate..." she began firing off a few shots and turning here and there, she didn't exactly hit the middle but she was pretty close. And a gun wasn't her natural weapon. She loved to use swords. "Is it exactly naturally painful for you to summon your gate?" After firing a few more times she lowered the gun timidly and looked up at him questionably.

"I know you question the bandages on my arms... my weakened state. The truth is for these bandages," she pulled some off revealing the horrid purple, blue, yellow and brown scars with tears over them in her flesh. "That I have a rare disease... sometimes I get a sort of spell...a sickness, my flesh becomes weak and vulnerable to most touches..." She looked at him seriously, "This is why they won't put me on a mission yet." She then smiled to him raising the gun up once more, "It hurts all the time... to summon my gate."

"Errr..." Beads of sweat weere begining to crawl down the side of his face. Trying to make a new friend and he goes and screws it up. No need to give up, he thought. There's still a chance to salvage this.

"I see..." Belg was still racking his brain looking for a way to turn the conversation on to a slightly more cheerful topic. And failed. "Well I guess that's expected... None of us are perfect." He shurgged. "My old age stops me from being the strong fighter I was in my youth. But your gate is probally really strong, right?"

He thought for a moment and quickly added. "Oh, but don't think you have to demonstrate! Don't hurt yoursefl! I trust your word." Honestly, though, he didn't trust very many people when it came to just words, but he figured he had no choice in such a situation.

The gun slipped from her hands as if it were an accident, but truthfully she had purposely let it fall that way, she looked at Tank for a moment. Then she turned quietly and walked slightly away from him her head lowered. "If it's as strong as you think...why couldn't I save them all?" The silence peirced her ears, and she could remember all of the fighting and the screams. She took in a breath and softly sighed turning around to him, "So...where's the cafe around here? I'm quite hungry, how about you?"

He was on the outskirts of the ghetto, making his winding circle back to the base. He was taking longer than usual, but he thought it was necesary. After all, he did just slay two of the clones in under eight seconds. A troop was sure to come in a few hours to scour the place. They wouldn't destroy it...they needed the cover. They were as skilled in guerilla combat as his Resistance. My Resistance, eh? And I'm barely even a part of it, now!

What was taking the girl so long? He was sure she wasn't so stupid as to take an overlong trip through this ghetto or to go straight to the base...Maybe, he thought, he should forget about her and finish his trail.

He went down another few alleyways, then stopped to rest next the the fading blue dumpster. Amazing, how long this place has lasted...

"Uhh..." He stood dumbstruck. Idiot... Once again, Belg had screwed things up. It was just like when he had shot X a few weeks back... Except this time, it wasn't X.

He didn't know what to say now. He wanted to try and comfort her, but he knew it was a lost cause. There was nothing to save now. Belg shakedly opened his mouth to dirrect her to the mess hall, but no words came out. He froze up, unbale to grasp air. In a fit of panic, Belg grasped his neck and started coughing up blood. I guess using my gate wasn't my best idea...

The pain in his arm had been nothing, but it must've been the shock of sustaining Nakt for that brief moment that had caused his brain to back-up. His heart had stopped pumping for a moment, and when it had started again, it had forced the blocked blood through tissue and into his throat. The pressure of trying to befriend a new ally probally didn't help either.

He stood doubled over, puking up what he could, but he couldn't, there was too much. He was dying. With one hand still around his neck, he reched to KP to get help, unable to scream while drowning.
