Father Michael let the wind take him and he flew up into the sky, the small pendant that was still around his neck, glittering. He could see the mountains in the distance, but knew that it would take at the least 2 days to get there with rest.

Keeping an eye on him, and the pendant that reflected the light, she managed to avoid anything that happened to be in her path, amazingly. Generally she couldn't watch something, run, and not trip on something.
As they neared the edge of the plain, she realized there was a forest between the mountains and where they were. "I can't see you if you fly above the trees! You'll have to come lower." she yelled up to him, wondering why neither of them had thought about food or anything of that nature earlier, before they were a ways away from the city.

Father Michael fell to the ground, his energy wasted. A feather drifted from the back of hi excorcist uniform as he breathed the cool air deeply. He sat with one knee on the ground, and the other in a crouching postion for a while. His fist on the ground as he held his chest with the other. His heart problems were kicking in, but after a moment he stood up and said, "We're going to have to travel by foot through the forest, the canopy is too dense for me to fly through and the braches would just make it harder for you to see me." With that, Father Michael turned around and began to walk, as if nothing had happened.

Holding back a retort, she followed him, unnerved by the forest for some reason. "The silence...." she murmered, realizing that was what was so strange. The forest was silent; no animals could be heard or seen.

Father Michael turned, "Stay close, these forests have changed over the years." He continued to walk, his feet silent through the leaves, just like he was taught in his trainings.

As silent as the priest, she continued to follow him, even though she was perfectly capable of finding her own way through the forest.
As it neared dusk, Saro spoke up again. "We might want to find somewhere to rest before dark, it'll be much harder then. And we can't make it to the other side before nightfall." Sha said as she moved up beside him.

Father Michael nodded and turned off to the side. He walked in a ways and found the tree he was looking for. It was a great oak that had a wondrous base and Father Michael smiled at his find. He looked bck at Saro and dropped his bag on the ground, pulling out a loaf. He split it and threw one half to Saro. "Climb the tree and try to rest in it, don't sleep on the ground." With that he stuck the loaf in his mouth and grabbed his bag, he began to climb the tree like a monkey and slumped down into the crook of the branch and the trunk.

She climbed up after him, finding a slightly more precarious perch at about the same hieght, just a few inches higher. Hr back against the trunk, she let one leg hang down over the side of the branch, the other foot resting on the limb. "Do you know what's happened to the forests? They've all fallen silent, or almost all of them at least." she asked, pulling a piece of the bread and eating it.

Fathr Michael finished chewing before saying, "Some evil has fallen on the forests, the Order has been trying to find what's wrong, but what I think is that some ritual was, or is, being held here that has warded off the animals. Being a Rook, I can feel an evil aura around the forests. You might feel it too, but I don't know because you're not an animal." Father Michael sighed and shook his head, "It's horrible really, because it takes everything I can just to walk through here, and it makes me wonder what would happen if a mothr had to leave her nest." He continued to eat, staring out into the night. "Then there's the creature..." He mumbled, mostly to himself.
Ako awoke and decided to finish gathering her supplies until night fell. She picked up the bag and began to walk back toward the town. She reached into her pouch to see how much money she had left when she noticed the glass bead. It was a leaf and it seemed to grow in her hand the longer she held it the bigger it got, until it was the size of her face. When it stopped growing, she stare at it and it seemed almost like a mask. She dropped it and it shattered into many peices. She stepped back and ran around it to get back to the town. Preturbed, she hugged herself until she reached the edge of town. She hurried to different vendors, buying equipment.

"Creature? What is it? I've heard it, and seen tracks and what was left of it's meals, but never it itself." she said, eating another piece of the bread.
Karik found himself wondering for the hundreth time why he was helping the girl again. Akarni's orders.... he thought with a sigh, wondering why someone else wasn't being sent to watch the man's pawns. He saw the girl, Ako, again and ran after her, grabbing her shoulder as he reached her to stop her from running off. "Ako?" he asked, praying he had the right person this time. Why were there so many girls that looked the same if you only saw the back of their head?

Father Michael shook his head again, "From what we can gather, we think that it's a human eating crow." Father Michael was almost chuckling to brush off the idea, "At all the scenes black feathers were left, along with bird footprints the size of chest. What ever it is, it's ravenous and huge. We assumed that it can't fly because it's tracks are always on the ground until it reaches a lake, then they mysteriously dissapear into the water." He frowned then craned his head to look at Saro, "Have you ever heard of anything of the like?"
Ako turned int surprise to see the man. She cocked her head to the side, "Umn, who are you again? I don't believe that we've met." She smiled politely and brought her hands together in front of her.

“No… Unless it’s some sort of water creature, that’s all I can think of. Is it the same lake every time, or different ones?” she asked, racking her mind for anything about an aquatic monstrous crow.
“A friend of Saro’s. I was told to find you, and to tell you he’s not dead. Father Michael I mean. The last time I checked, he was entering a forest with Saro, looking for you.” He said, letting a lie mix with the truth. “Well, I was told to find her and give her the message, just not by Saro….” he thought silently, keeping his thoughts from his face.

"The lakes vary, but they're all connected to the ocean by rivers," Father Michael explained.
Ako's eyes filled with shock and horror at the realization that Father Michael was in the forest. He had always warned her not to enter it without a guide, but Father Michael wasn't a guide, that she knew of. "I must go find him!" She exclaimed in a rush.

He grabbed her shoulder, to prevent her from running off. “Don’t, you’ll only get lost in the dark and you won’t be any help to him then. We’ll find somewhere to stay tonight and then go find them in the morning. And I’ll stay with you to keep you from doing anything you, or someone else, will regret.” He said, praying he didn’t scare her off.
“The ocean…. The only person I can think of that would know what it is, is a sailor, or pirate. The only one that would know and tell me is Akarni, but I’m not about to find him just to ask him.” She said, letting venom seep into her words as she brought him up.

Ako turned back around and looked at Karik, "Will you really help me?" She asked, her eyes filling with hope that she had found someone that could help her.
Father Michael looked forward again and was about to respond when he heard a crunch on the forest floor below. He heart began to skip beats and his hand began to sweat. Before he saw it, he smelt it.The sun was finally setting, and the moon was beginning to glimmer, he wasn't sure if Saro could see it, but right now he was just glad he was high up. He reached to his side and fel the hilt of his sword. He wanted to see what the creature was, but it was too dark under the shadow of the tree to fully see it.
