when i worked in the veterinary hospital, once it got to be march there wasn't a single day that i went in and we didn't have a litter of kittens that was dropped off. often they were left outside in taped-up cardboard boxes, and if the babies were lucky there were a few towels in there.

once we got them inside and all snuggly warm (latex gloves filled with hot water then wrapped in towels can do wonders) no one could walk past our room without hearing the siren song of teeny little mews....

my kitty is named flynn. i got him when he was about five months old. my cat nissa had just died a few days earlier (my ex and i had adopted her nine months earlier. no one wanted her because she had terminal mammary cancer. we were essentially a hospice for her. when we brought her home in october she barely weighed eight pounds. in early june when she left us she was nearly fourteen. xd she was spoiled rotten.) and my fiance had gone out of town. [watch me get back to my original point! w00t!] i wasn't about to spend an entire week in an apartment completely by myself.

i called my ex to ask him if he had a color preference for when i went to adopt another cat. he said he wanted another orange tiger, but he didn't want a kitten. the only orange cat our shelter had was the five-month old kitten. he only fit half the criteria, but he whenever i would go visit him he would always pay lots of attention to me.

they had named him havana, but i didn't really like that name. it didn't fit him. my ex wanted to name him.... um, some italian word that i can't remember. it meant "clown" or "trickster" or something. i didn't like the sound of it. so i went to baby name websites. flynn supposedly means "redhead." it's the b*****d child of some derivation of gaelic. xp but it works. it also means "troublemaker," which fits him to a tee.

he used to sleep on my head. but now that i moved back in with my parents (and very far away from boston) he's decided the best place to sleep is on my mother's head. or near my parents' feet trying to beat up the dog who sleeps under their covers. xp freakin cat. but he'sh my baby.

Sally came to us when we were still in Orlando before we moved to Winter Park... You could see his bones plainly through his skin and he seemed like he was looking around for someone... We had some extra cat food from the last kittens (my mom gave them back to the Humane Society because she thought I was allergic to them, but it turned out a month later that it was something else). So we gave it to him, and he ended up hanging around.

Then a few years later, on Valentines Day, my mom and dad got me a hyper-active teen-age Golden Retriever instead of chocolate. Sally still treats him like a stranger

I ended up getting Zodiac from the great memory I have that activates itself when people say they will give something to me or if they owe something to me. When I was forced to move up here, my parents said that they would get me a pet. That was when I was 10 or 11-years-old. About six years of badgering later, and being ultra responsible, I finally got my ball of fur.

My mom ended up getting Neko because she loves Himalayan cats, and she has wanted another one for a long time. xd Plus she wanted Zodiac to have another playmate.
